I been trying to beat "Gran Turismo World Championship" in "Amateur" with CLK Touring car, I maxed it out on HP and I tuned the suspension but the car does not seem to be good enough... I beat all the other races in Amateur with it with ease.... ( German Touring Car Challenge, Gran Turismo All-Stars, and All Japanese GT Championship). Am I doing something wrong or I am just using a wrong car?

thanks :)

well go beat LIKE THE WIND race in the pro mode and youll get the mazda 787b that car should win every single race you can enter.

Take a look at this thread Amateur Dream Car Championship in the write-up section. It pretty much spells out what I did to win. Race a few qualifying laps around the track, and learn some of the braking points. Once your times are comparable to the ones listed in the write-up, it should ease the tension a bit.

I used the Altezza LM, and made a good run. One thing I can't stress enough, is practicing the tracks. Brake earlier than you think, and repeat mantra "Slow in, Fast out".

I also recently tried this series in that car. Go here to read all about my success, or lack of it. The CLK touring car seems like it should be competitive, and it is for the first five races. After that it's hopeless.
:(
Check out the Writeups board for great information on a lot of series and enduro races. Good luck!

Neon:

Excellent write-up. I hadn't read that in a while, but it's great. Right on the money, and very nice story telling...the Pennzoil Proctologist....

Indeed B0mb3r, these two threads should give a bit of insight as too what others suffered through to finish that series.

AO:

The reason you haven't read it in a while is that I only wrote it on Thursday. I didn't finish that series until Wednesday night of this week.
:smilewink
But thanks for the compliments! Still not up to your level of detail, though.

thats funny, I have the same problem first 5-6 races i can usually either win or place 2nd after that I can't even get 5th! Its almost like they get car upgrades... or computer just cheats.

They do, and they do. It doesn't seem to happen as badly in the single-race cups, or in the shorter series races.

However, in any of the longer, like 10-race series, the AI gets a big boost at about the halfway point. So you need to do one of two things:

1) Start the series with a car that wipes out the early competition, and be equal for the last half of the series, or;

2) Purchase a big power/handling adder like turbo or NA tunings, and uninstall them for the first half of the series. You can change parts that you already own during the series, but you can't buy new ones.

Using the second method you can play competitively during the whole series.

Loctite/Zexel GT-R and I finally got it :)
after some trickery with suspention and stage 2 turbo I did the perfect 100 :)

too bad my thumbs are numb now :P

This is a job for: Corvette C5R. stage 1-2 powerup.
I tried to find a Superman smilie, but it just wasn't happening.
