I'm currently looking into purchasing a cheat device for my PS2 so I can use it with GT4, but can't seem to figure out which would be the best one..

The three i have narrowed it down to is:

1. GameShark Game Codes with Media Player

2. Action Replay MAX

3. Code Breaker PS2 (V9.0)

I'm thinking maybe getting the Code Breaker PS2 (V9.0) or the Action Replay MAX but any suggestions are greatly appricated.

Thanks In Advance.

Action Replay Max because you can download new codes & new saves uploaded by many people (online), it's always updated everyday with a forums. Action Replay Max is very useful!

AR is nice but they took down the forums and are usually late on games.. Best software/hardware available, but in my opinion it takes to long. They were quick on GT4 but on MGS3 we waited weeks after release.

Action Replay Max is best with a USB Pen Drive. It opens up a whole world of fun with a PS2. 👍

I used to be pro gameshark but now I'm going with the AR Max. It seems to me they have better codes than the gameshark

Trust me... I can testify firsthand that the GS GameCodes (with or without) Media Player blows ass. After wasting $30 on this thing, I found out that it is impossible to add your own codes and make them work (on GT3 at least).

You're better off with a V3 or V4 Gameshark 2, or an ARMax.

okay so its either the ARMax or Codebreakers..

I've mentioned the codebreakers because it seems to have alot of codes for GT4.

Keep those suggestions comming.

Thanks!

I have been shopping around for the same thing and the only GameShark I can find in Bestbuy, Game Stop, and Circuit City is the Broadband Enabled version. I did see CodeBreaker v9.0 and AR MAX. I have always used GS devices on all the previous GT versions when building hybrids except in GT3 where I built the using the SharkPort which I also used to back-up all my different game saves to my laptop, and also load game saves downloaded form the net. I feel (not sure) that if GT4 has hybrids they will be built from the memory card (GT3 style) using hopefully a new version of the Great MK's program.

From what I have seen the only difference is that the EVO includes a 16mb usb flash drive.

okay. i think i'll head over to the shopping malls to see what the difference is and see if there are are any AR Max Evo's or Code Breakers.

So between the MAX and EVO MAX, there is no difference?

Gonna hit up my local compusa and gamestop right now then.

Thanks again and keep those suggestions comming in..

On a side note I found these 2 products
http://www.gamestop.com/product.asp?product%5Fid=801851 (GT4 only)
http://www.gamestop.com/product.asp?product_id=801973

Both are only $10.00, but is only good for limited games and you will not be able to add any new codes to it. I guess it really depends on how many games you will be using codes on.

thanks for the links but i think i'll just get the ARMAX or code busters.

those things look kinda cheezey to me.

Thanks again for the response..

I think the potential problem with the ARMax is getting an up to date version (you would still have to get hold of the GT4 codes anyway). That is one reason I ordered a Codebreaker V9 off ebay (they were happy to ship to the UK). From my understanding of the thing (yet to arrive) you can download a new set of codes (called "Day 1" codes) to a USB drive to load onto the PS2. There are a number of "Day 1" codes for various recent games on the Codebreaker site that can be downloaded. One set of codes, so no problems even with a dial-up. It cost me $15, shipping to UK brought the price in to less than I would have paid for an American ARMax in the UK.

I got an AR MAX and I like it but I haven't had any luck with using any kind of USB storage device which I thought I heard people claim it could do. Another thing that's bad is I can't update thru the internet because I'm on dial up... When I go to enter codes though it's cool because I can hook up my keyboard VIA usb to the PS2 and type normally rather using the confusing PS2 controller.

I think it's decent, these cheat code products have come a long way since the game shark for the ps... I hate ps because of the bad experience.. just a frustrating product. Don't know anything about the CB product.

I have codes for my older GS2 v1/2 unit now but after looking and reading a lot if I were to buy a new one it would be a CodeBreaker v9.0.

what about unlocking cars, unlimited money etc?

If someone can confirm they all work, I think im going to be making my purchase after work.
I don't know yet, but i think it should works when all licenses codes works, or you can get a game saves that i upload in the PS2 Online.

which one would work with MK better ?

Just a guess, but I would think the CodeBreaker would since the ARMax uses a different coding format as in see below in the different 'Max Cash' codes.

ARMax
QM9M-29XB-MQND0
MED1-TJGJ-P5PK0
WZ2X-XM62-EPR84

CodeBreaker 9.0;
2B9E69D6 EAF90DEC
14167B11 A3D83E50

GS2 v1/2; (which was used in the GT3 proggie)
20A1FCA8 B8C9425E
20A1FCAC 7A726F98
(codes are in RAW format)

I remember playing GT on a PS(version1) and using a printer cable to hook it up to my PC via GS1. When I would look at the game while it was running I would see it in RAW format same as the AR/GS2 does with the xxxxxxxx xxxxxxxx coding format.

It really all boils down to which one MK will use to map the parts/codes on each vehicle with.

|\/| P 3 players may or may not work depending on the mp3 player but go with Codebreaker, i use it for like everything and they had Gran Turismo 4 codes the day after it was realeased...not to mention its cheaper if you already have a flash drive

Code breaker has the codes first...the best codes... and you can down load the off a flash device ( max drive etc. ). I have vs. 8 also the intrface is user friendly without all the extra crap of AR max. I also own a GS 2 vs 3 and Action replay max ( several versions ) so I have had plenty of time and games to compare each. So far the code breaker wins in a runaway landslide.
