I know most of you guys mapped their DS3 to fit their unique playing style. Which mapping setup is best suited for drifting?

Oldschool and classic:

X = Accel
Square = Brakes
Ball = Horn
Triangle = Reverse
R2 = E-brakes
L2 = Look back
R1 = Shift up
L1 = Shift down
D-pad = Wheel turning
L3 = Wheel turning (rarely used)
R3 = Accel / Brake (rarely used)

About the settings:
It depends your layout and your style. Some drifters like to emulate a wheel response, so they set their wheel turning speed to very low (-2 to 0) and some others are used deal with the in-game g-force in a diferent way and prefer to have fast answers from the DS3 and still maintain smooth transitions (3 to 5). Also, the controller layout and settings will define the car setup style (springs rate, damper levels, lsd...). Its highly recomended the use of the ABS, at least 1 level, specialy if your desired button not be analogic (R2 trigger, for exemple).

I don´t defend the use of d-pad for turning, but is what makes me feel more confortable (i use D-pads since i was kid and resisted to use analog since GT1 on PS1, so...). I can domain a car using the analog, but makes me feel like im writing with my left hand. Im very happy that GT5 still providing a dynamic engine, witch makes me choose d-pad to drive, if i want to.

Nice explanation Lazy liquid..I consider myself as an intermediate drifter but still need to work a lot on my transition between corners. I'll give a try on ur setup and let u know how it handles!

R1 shift up
R2 gas
L1 downshift
L2 brake

You setup does not use the right stick analog. I heard it is pretty needed when drifting. Will give a try

R2 - Gas
L2 - Brake
O - Shift Up
X - E Brake
Square - Shift Down
Triangle - Reverse

Whatever you want for the rest.

Interesting setup but also prone R3. I will test it too!

R1-up shift
R2- Gas
R3-steering
L1-Downshift
L2- Brake
Triangle-reverse
Sqaure- Rear view
Circle-Ebrake
X- Flash/ toggle Hi/low head lights

R2- Gas
L2- Brake
R3Up- Upshift
R3Down- Downshift
L1- Look Back
Circle - Ebrake
Square- Left View
X - Right view

I love this setup because using the right analog stick for shifting gears feels more aggressive especially when I'm racing. I also like this setup because its easier for me to look on my left and right sides when drifting with the square and X button

I learnt to adjust throttle and blip the throttle with the default layout. The only thing I changed was the dpad which I use to look around the car

R1-shift up
R2-brake
L1-shift down
L2-e-brake
Right analog up-throttle
Left analog-steering
Triangle-look back
Square-reverse
Quite honestly I don't bother w/ the other available functions(look left/right, horn) besides start for pause, and select for view change...this layout is my standard for just about every racing game I've ever played(from ps2-up)

I done it this way because I have too much spare time :lol: At nights when I dont use my wheel thats the config I use for DS3:

After going through some setups I gotta admit some are just ridiculous (no offense).

R2 - Gas
L2 - Brake
Square - Shift up
X - Shift down
Circle - E-brake
Triangle - Reverse

A simple layout.

I use the same one. It really doesn't matter about anything else but have gas R2 and brake L2 with steering left analog. That's the best for racing, drifting, drag, whatever else you can think of since it gives you more control like actual gas and brake pedals.

Edit: I use X to gear up since your thumb is already pretty much on it anyway and O to gear down.

I dt need right analog at all so i dont have to do any position switch since my midle fingers are always on brake and gas n my index are always on shifting buttons so i have always my other finger ready to ebrake or look bhind
