X What?
Can anybody tell me what is the best overall DTM car for various tracks? I'm gonna participate in a championship 580PP. We will run only real tracks like Suzuka, Fuji, Nurburgring GP/F and Lacuna Seca etc.

This is the list of cars i can pick from. Those are allowed for the championship i'm participating.

AUDI A4 TOURINGCAR ‘04
AUDI TT-R ABT TOURINGCAR ‘02
MERCEDES CLK TOURINGCAR ‘00
OPEL/VAUXEL CALIBRA TOURINGCAR ‘94
OPEL/VAUXEL ASTRA TOURINGCAR ‘00

I hope for some good detail information. And if anyone can give me some tune(s), you would make me really happy. I'm a decent driver but can't tune. You can share your tune by PM if you don't want to make it public, i will keep it for myself. (i know i can found tune here on GTP and all over the net, but not every tune suites my driving style. So the more tune i can try, the better)

I prefer good handleing above top speed and hate understeer

Thanks for the informatio and sharing.

Depends what track and the regulations tbh but the CLK, Audi TT-R, Astra super touring are all good dtm cars. PS this is in the wrong place

Ok thnx for the feed back so far.

Can some mod move this topic

In the meanwhile, if somebody else want to give his opinion about my question, please do

Thnx

Move it yourself with the thread tools and Move Thread button. ;)

And my DTM car of choice for online?

IS F RC, duh. (it's close enough to a DTM for me anyway)

But for people who want ACTUAL DTM's I'll say...any of the modern ones really. They're all roughly good enough for each other online...

Ok thanks, i moved it.

Hopefully to the right place now

The MERCEDES CLK TOURINGCAR ‘00. Of all AI opponents this car is always the best in the new seasonal, so that says it all.

If there is a fairly low PP limit I do well with the Calibra but if its high I would go for the CLK.

I think thats a bit high for the calibra, if I get some time tonight ill check the PP at 580 and let you know. CLK is considered the best by most of the people I know, if your a vauxhall fan like me the astra is awesome too. Why not do some testing?

Online with 615PP cap, it seemed that the Merc was best.

I always went with the TT though as I cant drive the merc at all :P

The best way to find out which car is the best for you is to test them. They're not very expensive in the Online dealership at the moment. A race or two in the Seasonal events should see you get enough to buy one.

Buy one, tune it to the right specs for the races you'll be entering, then test it at the tracks. Its really the only way to tell. Its all well and good people telling you which one they think is best but it might not suit your driving style in the tune you need it. So see how you get on.

CLK because it can generate the most downforce, it's in a totally different league than all the other DTM cars.

Max downforce doesn't do you any good on LOONG straight tracks.... Sarthe.... Grand Valley, both Daytona and Indy Road Courses, etc......

And don't forget that with the new seasonal you can also use the BMW M3 GTR race car - better than the clk I reckon. Also, make sure you don't by the UK/Vauxhall version of the Calibra - buy the Opel one as that's considered German.

You can win easily with the Calibra - as long as its the Opel one. Remember the 4x4 2.0 turbo road version of this car from the 90's ? - cool stuff. :)

It does, but in seasonals you can use it in the DTM-series, so it is DTM/LMS car, lol.

That's kind of ironic though, it's not dtm, so the seasonal should be german racecar seasonal (technically) unless the r8 lms abides by both sets of rules

The CLK is the best one of them. With the same PP as the other DTM's it still seems to be the fastest one.

The pp is based on hp weight and handling probably more, I ASSUME it takes a little more skill to drive, but has more power or less weight

YES! I had one, it was chipped and an absolute beast :)
I miss that car, great handling!

I think the OP is participating in online racing, if its DTM they will boot him if he tries to use the LMS R8. I think it would own the other DTM's.
Not sure where they would stand with the vauxhall/opel thing. It should be ok as the Alfa is an Italian DTM.
