Best Gr.3 car?

So now that we have to watch every penny that we spend after the credit nerf, I don't have the luxury of buying cars just to try them. I've been sort of struggling with the Gr.3 races. The computer opponents just seem to be accelerating much, much faster out of the corners. Are they using nitrous? So I'm looking at some better cars. In your opinion, what are the best Gr.3 car(s) to get to help with those 730pp races?

For me, ive found the 'GR Supra racing concept' to be the easiest. It seems to get out of corners very easy. Good all rounder i reckon.

My test for this was the Daytona Cup, i tried the 'Supra GT500' and the 'Ford GT Race car' with no luck.
Interesting, yeah I was definitely looking at that as a potential option. It seems to have really good stats on paper. I was also considering the BMW M6.

I tested:
GT500 Supra- too slow without the turbo
Pre-order stealth Mazda- seems underpowered
Viper- gets neutered to get under 730pp, becomes fat and slow
Lancer- good hp, but still feels weak accelerating out of the corners

I did a couple 10-lap GR-3 races and the Mercedes AMG GT3 and the Dodge Viper GT3 always pull away, and the Mazda Concept always does really well too.

I got the Subaru WRX GT3 and it its definitely slower on the straights than the Gr3 cars mentioned above, but it is very fast and stable in the corners - if its any indicator of its speed - I'm doing 6:45 on the Nordschleife with it, on racing hards and no driving aids.

I wonder if the computer opponents in the viper are staying under the pp or if they are playing the full power car. I got the viper and had to turn it into a pig in order to get to 730. Mercedes is an interesting option, looks good on paper, wonder how much power I would have to take off in order to get under 730

For 730pp Gr3, I'm leaning towards the 458 and the 4C atm. At the SPA Gr3 event, I'm running low 2.17.2xx in the Alfa on RH...very surprising since it was one of the slowest cars in GTS.

Yeah I was thinking about the 4C as well. It doesn't seem like hp is doing much in this category for some reason. I feel like no matter how much hp I get on the car, it still drives about the same in terms of speed. So I'm really wondering if it makes sense to go for lightest in order to get best cornering

My experience says that hp does matters, esp on high speed tracks. For example, go to High Speed Ring and play around with HP verses torque. But saving said that, most tracks rely on torque to pull/push you trough the corners...but getting traction to bite also requires LSD & tranny optimization (not to mention inputs).

Look for stability, traction and cornering consistency first...then u can always loosen things up.

For Daytona I used the Jaguar F Type Gr3. It is very balanced and you can upgrade the supercharger and still stay under 730pp. I won it 2 ways, high hp with a ballast and full power upgrades. And high downforce low ride height track grip style. I found the high hp a little easier even when I pitted and refueled fully. Max power I was hitting 200+mph so fast. Ride height and center of gravity matter a lot FYI.

For smaller tracks the M4 and Supra have the most torque. They accelerate fast and have great balance. The WRX is nice too. The Ford GT and Porsche are probably best if you can drive them....

GR Supra is good all around. Great at high speed corners and decent rotation on tight tracks. It seems a little nerfed from GTS but we don't have BOP yet so i can't judge. I have a ton of laps and races in GTS and won the most with it even in the Manu series.

911 RSR is a great utility car. What it lacks in straight line speed can be made up in the corners but needs good throttle control just like the Supra.

The BMW M6 was a beast in Sport, but since things are a bit fluid between it and GT7, I'm hesitant to recommend it. But since Kaz loves the brand, I have a feeling it still rocks pretty good. It's a shame you don't gel with the Ford GTLM. I love that thing and could use it to catch the M6 rabbits.

For SP, get a gr.2 and detune it.
That's an expensive way to get there, but when I can afford them, I'm going to try that out.

M6 and Ford GT LM are still very fast. Some races you cannot de tune to enter. GR3 only, no GR2.

So I guess I'm not any closer to picking a car

I tried the M6 but if feels just slow out of the corners stock. Anyone got a 730pp tune for it?

I guess Toyota seems like an option, maybe the Jag? Anyone else have other suggestions?

Don't overthink it, and checkout the turning forum...lots of tunes in there to start with.

I'm gonna put my weird hat on and say the Genesis...surprisingly stable through the fast stuff, struggles with low speed turn in, relatively nice on the throttle
Genesis GR4 and GR3 is great but you gotta be perfect vs fast cars. 1 big mistake and you won't recatch the pack.

The best for 800 PP, well, for that it's ANY Gr.3 car since most if not all can't even reach 800pp and they would still be far faster than any other the AI.

But the overall best car for 800p for the WTC800 is the Chaparral 2J. Just add max ballast and take out HP from it until it reaches 800p. It ends up with about 495 HP and over 900kg, which makes it much faster than any Gr.3 car and it grips on slow corners like no other car in the game, while the other cars are doing hairpins at 70-80kph, the Chaparral does it at 100kph. I easily on the outside of any corner just overtake the AI casually.
You just have to be careful out of corner exits and high speed corners when you are doing them at high RPMs, at that point, just short shift it and you are good, the car tends to oversteer sometimes.

730pp Gr.3 however does seem to be a whole different ball game. I can win the races with the Gr.3 Corvette, however, the one in Daytona is really hard, the time for you to pit is just about when the leader pits, and for some reason, your pitstop takes longer than the others even when taking just the necessary amount of fuel. I went into the pits in that race just behind the leader (which was a yellow Nissan GT500, the Penzoil one) and I came out of the pits, 13 seconds behind it and with other cars in the way who pitted after me. Overtook the Nissan on the last lap, but this is something that shouldn't have happened.

This is my choice so far. Once you get uses to the difference in throttle points in the corners vs a FR car, it works great.

Agree. I went with the Supra for the Manu cup and it needs work. The BOP setup is trash and it rotates like a garbage truck. I'm 2 seconds out top split and usually just under 1 or putting up an occasional top 10 time. Oh well.

I'm disappointed because it treated me so well in GTS. Should have followed my guy and signed with Porsche.

Ive been doing well in the updated BOP sport races with toms supra its pretty fast the way they have it set up it has more tq and less weight than most other cars BOP.

I encountered this yesterday, super frustrating. I'll try the Gr. 3 'Vette and see how it goes. Having to wait 16 seconds before rolling into the pits is absurd.

I feel like I'm a loner here, but I really like the Jag Gr3 car. It's very well balanced and easy to control under braking and coming out of turns. It's a great jack-of-all-trades.

The Ford GT 18 is also a lot of fun but I had to mess with the tuning. The lift-throttle-oversteer was really bad, even worse under braking. But, add some rear downforce and front brake bias and it's so much better. I will say it's not good for the 730PP races since it needs to be de-tuned and just doesn't seem to like it. But for the 800s it's GTG.

I wonder this same thing. The Viper is - for me - basically always the lead car or right up there in the Gr3 races. So I bought one, but I have to keep the fuel at 5 or 6 to get to lap five unless I am doing a double pit stop which is just throwing the race away. It was so slow I couldn't hardly compete. Not sure if the AI is doing a PP cheat or a fuel cheat beacuse I've seen the AI Viper go multiple laps more than I can without pitting.

Are you changing tires on that Daytona race cuz the AI doesn't. Might be why they're getting the jump. I enounted the same thing so I checked on the replay.

I've won that race multiple times with the Jag and the Vette, with and without changing tires. Usually I do just so I can drive like a madman and it's fun to attempt to re-catch the AI. Doesn't always happen, though!
