Going to do some serious grinding to get a group c car tonight as my friends all have one and want to race with them. Don't want to waste money on one with terrible handling! Was thinking of getting the Sauber but happy to go a different direction! All suggestions welcome :)

787B is the best if I'm honest... Won the CORE Group C championship with it, make sure you put a little bit of ballast in it and get it to 50:50 weight dist and will make it super stable

I have only one at the moment, the Sauber C9, which I would say is quite good.

The best Group C car that I have is the Pegeuoghvt 905B.

It's... So...

....Hmmmmm...

... Ahhhhhhh...

*Bad Dragon*

As mentioned above, there are really three cars to choose from. Sauber C9, 787B, and Peugeot 905. While the C9 is the fastest among them, it's also a tough one so for a simple and still very fast, the close second 787B might be the better choice.

I know that if you want a high top speed group c car the c9 is a good choice but the 787b is greater is the corners

"Greater in corners" just means that it's easier to drive but the C9 is actually faster when you get it right.

The 905 is not a Group C car, although it was raced against handicapped Group C cars initially.

The Toyota 88C ("Minolta"), Nissan R92CP and R89C and Jaguar XJR9 are, though.

I vote Sauber C9, of course, purely after a (practically) lifelong fondness for the car.

I must have missed the memo. :)
Having looked into it further, I'm not sure anymore. The World Sportscar Championship series ran in 1991 and 1992 with different rules allowing previous Group C cars (with "performance restrictions") to run with the new cars also described as being Group C; but they are substantially different.

The 905 was one such car built to the new rules, and the two types of cars (new and old) belonged to different categories. It's all a bit confusing, to be frank, especially since those categories existed before the rule change, and different sources conflict as to which category each car belonged to (I think the previous C1 cars became C2, and the new cars were then C1; the old C2s were got rid of since they were only privateers getting in the way and making a mess...).

So I suppose, technically, it is a Group C car, but it is not drawn on the same ruleset as the earlier cars at all - it is considerably slower as a result (which was the aim of the rule change). I'm surprised and slightly disappointed no-one corrected me! :D

My apologies! :)

Yes, as I was sure it was a Group C car I also decided to look around for information. I as well found contradicting articles and simply gave up and assumed it wasn't. :p

The Toyota Minolta has always been my car to go to on pure pace. I ended up getting the Jag to a decent setup so it was close, but the Toyota was still the fastest for me and my driving style (least tricky on the limit).

787. I remember this was the only Group C in GT4 that didn't eat the rear tires in a just a couple of laps. Ever since I haven't bothered trying any other. I did try the Jaguar in GT5 and it was okay I guess.
