what is the best car to do the M<R challenge in the pro league? i have a RUF 3400S, but it just cant keep up with the zonda and the gt40. i had the zonda, but i couldnt keep up then even with 1000+hp and sold it. what can i use thats under 1.25 million and would beat them?

Well, you can always use the same car that's beating you. Then tune it higher or drive faster. A little of both usually does well. Other than that....if you must pound them into very small chunks of metal, break out the Nissan R390, Toyota GT-One, or Mazda 787B. If it's still not working for you use and F1 car (neglecting the fact that you really suck if you NEED an F1 car).

How high did you have your RUF tuned? I've just run that race with the 3400S at max tune but lost because of tire wear. I'm about to slap on super slicks and try it again, should work this time.

I'd first suggest tuning up the RUF all the way with T2's and trying that. If that doesn't work, try the GT40 instead of the Zonda C12S. Maybe try a Motor Sport Elise in there too. And don't forget the ZZ2. Spiffy little car. But unfortunately, once you hit these cars, the next MR's up the line are going to destroy the competition.

Good luck, have fun.

I did the races with the Honda NSX Type S Zero... I was also able to win the race at Laguan with a stock C12S Zonda, with T2's on...

Also, the ZZII is considered an AWD by the game, so it doesn't work for these races.

Hi! Do you have the Nissan R390 Road Car 👍 or Race Car, Mazda 787B, the Tommy Kaira ZZII or, any of the Racing NSX's Raybrigg/Arta/Castrol, all Prize Cars).? Check the Prize Car List, i really suggest the R390 Road Car. 👍
Medium tires f/r, you will have to pit at end of lap 5. I just tried out the MR Trail Mountain with the R390 Road Car 👍 , against 2 GT40's, a Zonda C12S, a Ruf 3400S and an Esprit Sport 350. At the end of lap 5, i entered the pit at -15.6.., and came out just as one of the GT40's was flying by. Caught up to it in the long tunnel and eventually finished 1st.
2nd:.................GT40 @ + 10.706
3rd:..................GT40 @ + 13.377
4th: .........Zonda C12 @ + 25.428
5th: .........RUF 3400S @ + 50.226
6th: Esprit Sport 350 @ +1'14.407
I love that car  If you don't have it yet, get it!!
Add stage 3 turbo and oil change, you get 641HP.
Also add the Racing Transmission and full differential, all the rest, leave it stock!
Limited slip initial: 10, Accel: 40, Decel: 20.
Set gear ratio @ level 29, automatic!! And then... go get'm! 👍 Good luck!

Thats like... cheating.. why not just hit the win button... :P

I'm gonna try it with an MR2 GT-S now...

Well,

I have a few suggestions in mind, but one in particular seems to be the most fitting.

You see, I would have thought based on your post that you needed more driving skill. However, I'm thinking that you may need more tuning skill.

For starters...
Take the Zonda C12s out one more time (if you can), only this time I would like to see you apply every modification except power mods.
This is gonna make the car feel really good. It will not be over powered (so your brakes may actually work ;) ) and it is also going to still be powerful enough to win out over most of the competition.

If you can't hang with the group after trying that setup, try up'ing the power just a little bit and then go back and try again.

Good luck and come back to keep us informed.

I am sure we could all contribute something to your game. :D (atleast I hope ) ;)

He's having a hard time, perhaps next tire around, he will use an NSX-S as you did or NSX-R as i did, but it requires a little....track/settings knowledge 👍
No room for mistakes against the GT40's.
He will decide, eventually!!

Indeed, no room for mistakes against the GT40.. I won by 8 seconds overall my first time thru it with the NSX Type S Zero.

The thing I've seen about MR cars is you need to stay on the gas after corner entry, or else they will start to spin out. That may be more of a result from my tuning, but its different from an FR car, as even more steering is done with the gas from what I've seen. Many races with my MR2 GT-S, I turn into the corner, and then let the steering go mostly neutral, and just steer with the gas, maybe a little counter or correction as needed, but 90% is gas work.

My fav MR is the NSX, and I'm really biased against all the Japanese cars. But it just handles so damn good. I gave it n/a power mods if I remember correctly, didnt want gay turbo lag and also too much power. The car is a dream on any track, especially Tokyo and Monaco.

The best is either the GT40 or the Zonda. If you are a seasoned racer, these cars should be part of ur elite arsenal no questions asked.

I know what you mean, I used the Zonda for that competition (it was the same type as the computer was using, whatever it's called). IIRC I don't think I tuned it much really apart from tyres, didn't change the setup.

Laguna Seca was tricky. I used medium-soft tyres and made 1 stop, didn't bother qualifying. The car is unpredictable, especially under braking, doesn't have much grip, it slides a lot, especially in the fast corners where you have to leave a margin otherwise you may get turfed off into the dirt. The important thing is to get ahead on the first lap, and then go from there.

It took me 4 attempts. First try I led by miles but the computer crashed when it took control in the pitlane, and got stuck. Next 2 goes I crashed on the first lap. 4th go I won.

Honda NSX-r (full tune, T2s), Zonda C12 (fulltune, T2s), JGTC NSX (anyone of them, base with t2s)

In that order if you want a challenge.

If you want to blitz it use the ZZII with whatever mods you want or any of the lemans cars mentioned above or an F1...

But what is the fun in that?

Will using the Clio Race Car, be: cheating? :irked:
It has alot less HP than a Zonda C12
I think i tried that but i can't remember how i did????
I'm gonna try it later on, and the GT40 too 👍

The CLio race is good, very stable, very grippy...which makes it boring as old boots to drive (IMHO).

I'v never tried it in that race series so I am not 100% sure. As I remember the Clio race has alot of low end grunt but suffers on the high end. So on tighter/twisty circuits you should be ok, though on more open ones, like Tokyo or Midfield I don't know.

Give it a shot, I'm curious.

i dont have any of those prize cars listed in the first reply. i beleive my 3400s has 549 hp, or something around there. if i cant win with that, im going to buy the nsx-r because i can win the mr and then the type r races. i use super slicks so i never have to pit and i can usually have about a 40 second lead by 10 laps.

Well, i tried the Clio Sport Race Car @Pro MR Mountail Trail 10 laps, and this is what i got on my second trial. On first trial, i had wrong tires in rear

Now i will try the GT40 :indiff:

The Pro MR Challenge, with either Clio, has been written up here, so you might want to do a site search. The only difficult race, once the car has been set up and you get used to it, is Laguna Seca against the ever present GT40. The GT40 is tough to beat there, for the average player.

I am about to do this series, for the second time.
Maybe it will be a bit easier now.

Cheers,

MasterGT

What about the F1 cars? they're MR aren't they?

Try NSX type S zero, and NSX type R they're the best!

If using the Auto Backs APEX MR-S @ 512HP, @ Pro MR is "cheating", i guess using a Zonda C12S @ 790+ HP is not?? :boggled:
Then, using the Clio Race Car, should also be cheating??

Race cars are always faster, period. Power is meaningless if it can't get to the ground, along with the fact that race cars normally weigh less and have superiod handling and downforce.

You're biased against non-Japanese cars? Wow, you have a lot of **** at your disposal. And I do mean ****. Try venturing outside Japan and racing some of the exquisite European cars.

The best MR car is, without a shadow of doubt, the Super Autobacs MR-2. NSX is the best non race modified car.

Hey, stinky!
Watch your language please.
(btw, that's no joke)

Now regarding the best MR car...

Plenty come to mind.

First off, almost all of them are good.
It's really a matter of finding which cars are not good.

People will always have biases to certain cars, but all in all I really don't think there are many bad ones.

Like the Zonda (for example).
Many people say it is bad.
Truth is, it is capable of so much hp that when people max it out there is almost no chance of a novice controlling it.

However, if you tune the zonda and keep the hp at a stock level, you will surely be able to rule almost any race with other street cars as the competition.

Now, on the other side of that coin would be a car like the Raybrig NSX.
This car can handle any level of tuning and at almost any level of game play it is capable of winning against any competition.

So what's my point about this?

Don't tune your car to match the race.
Tune your car to match the car's potential.

With all that being said...
IMO stand out MR cars would be...
Road Cars:
RUF 3400S
NSX
Zonda
Clio

Race Cars:
MR-S Autobacs
Any NSX Race Car
Zonda Race Car
Toyota GT-One*
Nissan R390 GT1*
Mazda 787b

finally, those " * " indicate that the road car versions of those cars are easy overkill for any competition. ;)

Good luck in your racing. :D

Heck, I'm biased against none Japanese cars as well. Doesn't mean you have to yell at people. Its just a matter of taste - I like relatively small engines... V8 and bigger cars are just yucky.

Now... the MR-S is a wonderful MR car... though I doubt the standard version could be tuned to compete well, just because it lacks power... but I will test it out, since I tweak one out anyhow for the Pro Spider & Roadster race.

I did the races with an NSX Type S Zero, fully tuned. Simply an exquiste car, with lots of high end power and not so much torque you melt your tires all the time.

I still have yet to get the MR-S Autobacs in Simulation mode; I've only used it in Arcade... but I love it in Arcade mode.

Hey guys...

I went onto the track today and tested a tuned Zonda and I must say. :indiff:

Tuning will help that one. ;)

So for now I am gonna have to say the Zondas aren't exactly great and do not at all match up to many other MR cars in the game.

However, a few more MR cars to consider would be the Lotuses. (sp?)

Pretty much any lotus is great and you can find great praise for them if you look into the WRS archive Week 72 at apricot hill (523hp esprit v8) or week 57 (*2.5pwr @ apricot hill II).

In week 57 a few individuals ran the esprit 350 instead of the rgt or anything else.:D

Any way,
I will be back again later on if this thread has any life. :D

Till then,

As the question was "Best MR car?", not "Which car should I use for this particular race?" I'd have to say the GT40 road car was among the best in the game, handling is a little quirky compared to some of its modern counterparts but once you're used to it, its tremendously rewarding to drive.
My second unorthodox choice has to go to the Vauxhall VX220/Opel Speedster.
