I'm currently exploring a neglected segment of the game, that is to take a raw HP power hungry beast from the early 70's, i.e Dodge Hemi Superbee, and give it a competitive whirl on the Nordschleife.

Do any of you have recommendations for car choice / tune settings, around 500pp for them? I have fairly good knowledge of track, so that is half the battle, I just want a nice metallic painted snarly car that will get me to the finish, along side modern BMW's , if possible. (7:00 mark lap time)

I am also aware to tune the tranny with higher top speed / taller gears, to compensate for the HP/Tq line drops in high RPM, that will take some experimentation to set right.

The mustang mach 1 is a blast to drive on the ring

Is that the premium Transcammer? How would that car fare? (although I think its pp is in the high 570's

Nope, its in the ford manufacturers tab or whatever you wand to call it. Never have had tried the transcammer though, granted most muscle is for straight line speed, you get a good tune for the mustang. Its smooth sailing

the premium '69 camaro z28 will probably pull the fastest laptimes on the ring at 500. a flat 7 may be possible but it will need a good tune and a good lap. it's power curve is more 'modern' too (it doesn't choke as much in higher rpms). a key will be keeping close and drafting the bimmers on the straights.

as a bonus, it's one of the best exhaust notes in the game with the racing exhaust.

agreed, the 69 z-28 is a beast of a car. the only other old muscle car i use on a regular basis is the gt350 mustang. The stang gets a little squirrelly at speed, but handles nicely if your gentle with it.

'69 Z/28
'69 Corvette
'71 Mach 1

Those are easily the 3 best. The Mach 1 in particular is underrated.

The Chargers and Challengers have lots of power but are just too heavy. You might be able to get more top speed out of the Superbird but it's still a boat. The 427 Cobra looks good on paper but is kind of a mess.

The camaro is a dream,i have tried the superbird, Its fun,but like you said it is a boat, leave it at daytona

thx for suggestions, how about that Hemi Superbee, I am fond of it's natural ability to stay planted straight, as you mash the gas, although front end suffers from knockbacks when coasting the apex,

in anycase, I will try the above for some ****** comments from others online later tonight. cheers.

if you really wanna turn some heads run a dodge ram at 500pp, it'll suffer on the long straights but if you can keep close and draft it's a contender - it will out-accellerate anything.

^ yeah, I can do this with a Ford F150 Lightning. It's fun, especially when acting as a snowplow toward the lowest elevated sections of the track.

The 69 z28 :)

The 427 is the best if tuned right.

It's even better when you leave it stock. It's just a beast to control, and there isn't a ton of top end, but the thrill is intense!

try taking off weight then add it back with the ballast at 50 (at the back) and camber in the 2.1/1.8 F/R range. might get you in the 6s @ 505pp

You might think I'm nuts for writing this, but I have very displeasing results whenever I add camber on the Nordschleife. I prefer to tune other suspension and wheel settings, and leave cambers at 0. I find that whenever I add camber, it makes my cars grip less where I need them to. Very frustrating. I believe the Nordschleife is programmed into GT5 with All rough track surfaces, further amplifying the grip reduction when cambers are set.

I could be wrong, but this is how I feel with my driving style.

8:59s on the 24hr track layout, , came in 2nd place, 6s behind a tuned Fairlady Z-Z pro driver., while in my 69 camaro, tire wear on. no aids, no cambers.

On smooth tracks, Camber may play a proper role.
