Ok, I'm talking pre playstation days here. I'm thinking the top are

1. Megaman 2 - Simple, but perfect for what it was:D
2. Super Metroid - One of the few soundtracks that could really work your emotions in an action game.
3. Zelda - Just because it was Zelda, heh heh;)
4. Gunstar Heroes - Best 2 player shooter of all time had great music as well.:p
5 Castlevania Series - Just good stuff all around.

Comments?

Super Mario Bros. : )

Miata: Really? SMB? the whole series or just the original.

Just the original. . . It is one of those songs that you can get stuck in your head for days unless you actually play the game. If you are musically inclined too, you can put a pretty dope beat to it and jam out all day : )

That much is true. I have a few SMB remixes. Of course I think the Megaman OC remixes are the best. And the the airman one the best of those.

Kirby's Adventure for the NES.

kof 96! concuring with castlevania >> and sekon dehuitseden 3

Dquan: My fiance` has the movie of the guy playing that tune on the guitar. It's a trip to watch. Pretty amazing actually.

Chrono Trigger and FF3(6) had some great music, but for the time Starfox had the best music by a good margin.

The link I posted is that movie. You can either left click and play it streaming, or right click and save it.

Dquan: Doh! I'm on this work machine and it doesn't have the latest Windows Media Player. So only the audio came through. My bad. but good link. Thanks

Wasn't this thread about old school vgm?

oh and btw, i enjoyed that game ;)

Kaniyodrift: I have to agree with you about the music for the Ridge racer series. Except for Wipeout XL, all the other racing game music pretty much blows!
