Best on-track fight with AI ever!

I've just come off the best on-track battle with the AI I've ever had.

I've finally started my quest to win the Formula GT series with a non-F1 car - weapon of choice being my Nissan R390 LM car, tuned to around 1200hp.

I actually managed to jam the big fella on pole with a lap in the 58's, but ran on a strategy of running on superhard tyres and stopping on lap 15 of the 30 laps race.

I battled away on cold tyres, knowing that I would start to catch the AI as my tyres warmed up, and as the A1 tyres went off.

Sure enough, I got past the three Poly 002s fairly easily, and started to pick up the draft on the two leading 001s as they made their first stops on lap 8 and 9.

They fell behind until I made my stop on lap 15, and I came out right behind them - and so the battle raged until lap 27 when the two 001s stopped again.

It was brilliant - I had the straight line speed to get in front anytime the track opened up, and they would get past in the corners, particularly where there were quick changes of direction or heavy braking. It raged for 12 laps, including coming out of the constant radius left hander at the back of the circuit three wide (that got pretty wild through the fast right hand kink!), and everyone drafting each other down the pitstraight - very exhilirating.

I saved the replay, so I might take some shots with the ol' digital camera.
 
I havnt even tryed the formula cup yet im stuck on the S liscence...But the best battle I had so far is one of the races in the beetle cup I forgot to do and a few days ago I went to finish it and it was horrible...I kept getting raped out of the win...Everytime I would get beat out on the last straight...I hate the freaking beetles they suck so bad...I would rather drive the vitz than the beetles...
 
Hey man, that's awesome. You got big nutz for taking on the F1 series without using an F1 car. I'm tippin' my hat to that.

Heheheh cool ones vat... a good and short battle I have had was in the altezza series... those altezza boys are a$$holes! :P
 
The best I've ever had was a C5R battle in the amutuer American Cup thingy. There was another C5R and man was that tight. Lots of wall shuvin' too. He'd pass me, I'd Pass him, I'd Get fed up and slam the dork into a wall, then he'd come back and do the same thing!

I had to draft win him too!

The second best was between a F090/s and a 787B on the test course in GT All Stars in Pro-League. I had to draft to win. Lots of passin' I won by a Inch! A INCH! NO JOKE! About a 17Tenths difference!

The second best I have is with the vitz races they...And same with the evolution meetings the cars drive dirty and always knock me off track but I always come back and get them stuck on a corner...
 
the Vitz AI are the most maniacal cheating ratbastards on the face of the planet.

I just picked up GT3 again after a couple months playing WRC (although not very much). I'm over 90% complete, and one of the series I have left to do is JGTC. So I picked up my virgin Calsonic Skyline (fancied a challenge), added stage III turbo (622bhp) and super-slicks.

Went into race 1 (GVS) with the Raybrig NSX, Castrol Mugen NSX, Pennzoil Skyline, Denso Sard Supra, and Loctite Zexel Skyline. Ran a single qualifying lap to check ratios, which were close-enough stock. Put it into 3rd.

Then had a ding-dong battle for the first 12 laps with the two NSXs and the Supra. And for all those who thought I was cheating putting Stage III on, the Supra would blast past me out of corners, like I was sitting still!

Absolutely fab, and it really reminded me of just how great GT3 really is...

I had a similar thing in GT Concept - I was running an Ace level race at Tokyo, and got put into the wall by the AI at the first corner, and then one of AI cars put me into another wall at high speed on lap 3 of 5.

I battled my way back to second and coming out of that last open hairpin (under the overpass) on to the main straight I was a long way behind. I thought I was no chance, but picked up the draft - getting closer and closer, and crossed the line still not knowing if I'd won - got in by 16 thousandths of a second - yep, 0.016 of a second.

I jumped around in celebration for about 10-15 minutes - as you do.
 
Nice race.

My most competitive race where in the Type-R championship race in Amatuer league. I was useing a Euro Accord @ 310hp. They has a NSX and some other accords. I would only be able to catch the NSX in the 4-5 lap. I found some ways to fasten up my laps aswell :). I'm no expert thats why it was competitive :(

But now im stuck on gt world championship... damn viper :mad:
 
Were having a massive ass storm here... thought yous might of got it first?

Holy cow! Give yourself some credit! I ran the Amateur Type :r: series in a 300hp Integra. I never beat the Euro Accords by less than a full minute! Either you drive better than you think you do, or you spent some serious coin fixing that one up, man.

Nah - we got a bit of rain. I think the storms went through south of Wollogong.
 
So did you do allot of tweaking to the car or did you just do rudimentary stuff like extra downforce. Id like to know because I wouldnt mind trying that myself :)
 
I started the F1 Challenge with the Toyota GT-One and was doing fairly well. Actually you know what, that was the Road Car version ... I need to pick up the Race Car and go after it again. Unfortunately my friend still has my mem-card.

So that was the first race (I assume) - are you going to do the whole series?

I've put on the stage four turbo (up to a bit over 1200hp) and done a fair bit of tuning on it to sharpen the handling a bit, mostly diffs though, as the basic chassis set up on the R390 LM is pretty sound.

The Nissan's better in a straight line but the Poly001's slaughter it in cornering, because of their higher downforce and softer tyes - and therein lies the trick. Using the ol' superhard tyre strategy you can gain a useful advantage over the F1 cars and their medium-only tyres.

I will do the whole series - although boofhead here neglected to save the game!!! I ran the Midfield race again last night, SAVED(!), and had a little roll around in qualifying at Seattle - should be interesting (40 laps). I'll keep you posted with how it goes.

It should be fairly easy to win the series - the Nissan is quicker than the AI Poly002s (of which there are three) and the Poly001s will take points off each other. I figure four wins and an even split between 2nds and 3rd for the other events (which would give 70 points) should be enough, but I should win more races than that (hopefully I'll be more than 10 in front for the 76 lapper at Monaco and can skip that race!).
 
Hmmm I might try that then, although maybe in the Toyota GT-0ne. Although It has harder tyre wear, mind you as long as you dont have to pit every 6 laps it should be quite easy.

Doesn't work like that though. The same car will always be first of the AIs. Unless you 'assist' one of the others, that is!
 
I think you may be wrong. Some cars may pit more that others. This happened to me in another championship.

Yea it sure is nice to use a stock/arcade car to have some nice battles :D

sounds like an awesome race there vat. i might do the same (with the zonda racer or lambo) after i get 100% (only 2 damn races in the f1 series left!!!!).

For me, the most challenging races were the zonda only races (italia van'garde or somfin like that). My first time through those 2 races i did it with the C12S. OMG, those bastards drive like they are drunk! Every single turn (and i mean that litterally) they would ALL slam into the wall (and all onto me since i usually had the lead before each turn). And from there it was up to my massive amounts of HP to help me win. I finally won both the races after many tries (i got spun out by the pigfaces quite a few times). But once i had that purty Zonda Racer in my garage, it was all worth it. I went and did the races again but this time with the racer. WUT FUN!! i left it stock and just tuned it up, i did have quite an advantage in some instances, but it was still a big pile up. I forgot to mention i won one of the races with the C12S because all of the racers pitted on the last lap (they totally destroyed me on the last turn, spun me maybe 3 - 4 times).

Other then that, i don't recall much challenge in GT3. IMO, the ultimate fun is either aracde professional, or the GT All Stars in pro leage. Is it just me, or are the cars in GT All Stars pro leage fully sooped up? I tried running with a slightly sooped up 787B my first time, and i got MURDERED!! the slowest little bastards in the back of the pack would blow by me on every straight! I thought i really sucked ass after that. And then it hit me, big HP, they ALL have it :D
So i grabbed a nice big phat turbo (well actually NA tune, but that doesn't sound as kewl...lol) and ran it again but with the Zonda racer. Extreme fun. I still run that series quite often as i find it to be the most fun in GT3.
