Best on-track fight with AI ever!

I've finally started my quest to win the Formula GT series with a non-F1 car - weapon of choice being my Nissan R390 LM car, tuned to around 1200hp.

I actually managed to jam the big fella on pole with a lap in the 58's, but ran on a strategy of running on superhard tyres and stopping on lap 15 of the 30 laps race.

I battled away on cold tyres, knowing that I would start to catch the AI as my tyres warmed up, and as the A1 tyres went off.

Sure enough, I got past the three Poly 002s fairly easily, and started to pick up the draft on the two leading 001s as they made their first stops on lap 8 and 9.

They fell behind until I made my stop on lap 15, and I came out right behind them - and so the battle raged until lap 27 when the two 001s stopped again.

It was brilliant - I had the straight line speed to get in front anytime the track opened up, and they would get past in the corners, particularly where there were quick changes of direction or heavy braking. It raged for 12 laps, including coming out of the constant radius left hander at the back of the circuit three wide (that got pretty wild through the fast right hand kink!), and everyone drafting each other down the pitstraight - very exhilirating.

I saved the replay, so I might take some shots with the ol' digital camera.

my best on track fight with an ai would have to be on grand valley when it was the last lap and i was driving a c5r and the front tires were like dead and 2nd and 3rd place came closer every turn and on the last 4 corners we were running 3 wide on the turns and i was lik an inch from each ca and then wen we got to the straightaway my vette didn't get a good run off the corner and the dodge viper team oreca and the altezza lm were on each side of me to the finish line and i won by .00010 err something like that. I watched the replay about a hundred times by now and its still nerve racking to watch.;)

me in my 300zx against a clio and supprisingly a pug no far behind me :)
 
battles with the AI can be funny....when i am bored i choose a low-medium power car....(the Fiat) and compete in the Amateur American championship on the Laguna Seca circuit...

what a bloody hoot...:lol:

the AI cars cant stay on the track especially the Cobra and they'll bump you off all the time...i am sure this was added as a joke by PD....man it must have been...its like a visit to the circus....
 
I had a fun battle last night. Just trying to get used to my Logitech Wheel I thought I'd jump in the archade section and do some quick races.

My weapon of choice is the stylish Calsonic Skyline (arcade, stock) and I took it out on the Grand Valley Speedway under the Hard (five lapper) setting. I'm not quite up to Professional with the wheel yet (:

The first lap I was trailing bad, but quickly jumped to third place passing the two NSX (Raybrig and Castrol) and whatever the other car was. All I had in front of me were the two Supra, Castrol and Denso Sard, which were trading off the lead consistantly with me jumping in and out of second place.

I kept thinking "MY CAR IS PRETTIER THAN YOURS! LET ME THROUGH!" ... they don't listen to reason though.

On the fourth lap I made it into first (with a little nudge here and there) and maintained it until the last S-Bend before the long right into the finish straight of the final lap where the Denso got a hold of my rear bumper causing me to get a bad exit. I couldn't get my speed up to maintain a first and he edged me out by 0.072 seconds. I was a bit miffed, but alls fair in bump and nudge racing. I felt good, though, because it had me racing hard instead of just running off from the pack like I usually do in an over powered car. Close battles make for so much better replays too (:

man, that should work....

if life was fair, that WOULD work....maybe some of the experts can tell us the flaw in this logic?
 
Mine would have to be the Trial Mountain Enduro I ran about 3 months ago in a Orange Honda S2000. I was up against the Honda NSX and he was pitting every 5 laps to my 12 lap schedule. However, he was about 2 sec a lap faster than me. We were swapping the lead throughout the race. Right at the end, he came out of his final pitstop @ lap 71 9 sec back. Towards the end of the lap, i was slowing down to avoid doing another lap. The NSX closed up on my ass in a hurry but i still beat him by 0.012 of a sec after getting rammed by a lapped Evo.:p
 
For me, I ran the GT-All Stars in pro level (I think it was the GT-all stars) I had my stock Castrol Tom's Supra (love that car!) and racing Grand Valley Reverse. I was against the Mazda 787B, the Nissan R390 gt 1 race car, and the Toyota Gt-one race car. Also the Jaguar race car and the GT40 race car. I don't qualify and start in sixth. I pass the jag and the GT40 early but struggle to keep up with the supercars. After 4 laps I'm closing the gap, only a few seconds behind but the tires are fading fast. The AI's tires were fading rapidly too as I finally passed the 787B for first on lap 5. I pit then and get passed by all 3 once more. Come out of the pits around 20 secs behind the 787B. The toyota pits the next lap and I move into 3rd. A lap later the 787B pits and I get 2nd behind the R390. I figure he'll pit on lap 8 and I'll pass him but he doesn't pit! Uh oh! I buckle down and run the fastest laps I've ever done, finally overtaking the R390 in the middle of lap 10. I hold on and win by 4 seconds despite being underpowered by about 33%. A most satisfying victory and a saved replay.
