The AC is pretty mean when specced up/

Try the Jaguar E-type if you really want a classic with great everything. 👍

Handling, power, all that, the e type has it.

In fact, when I won my e type, I tuned it to be at a crazy pwr and hp yet kept all the suspension, tires, etc. stock.
Suprisingly, even with stock suspension and 3 times the hp, the e type still felt balanced.

It might be one of my favorite cars in the game.
If you haven't tried it out, go give it a run.
You might like it. ;)

I would, but I got it in a yellowy brown colour.

The time I've got for the 12 was 6'57.588 at the Ring, theres a guy on another forum who claims he's done it in the 6'40's. Then again after seeing a vid of a stock BMW M3 CSL doing a lap around the 7'10 mark I think thats possibility drivne by the right person. I'm a big TVR nut so I tend to drive the TVR's most of the time in GT games so although I'm in no way the bast GT TVR racer around I can drive the stock ones really well, I'm not much of a tuner when settings come into play so while I still get the lines right I can't for the life of me set a car up well enough to compete with the better racers, thats my downfall.

Right on L4S. 👍

Quick tune may have come into play with that 6'40s lap you mentioned.
Then again he might just be a bad arse racer. :D

As for me, I believe it would be easily possible to pull a few of the cars mentioned above under the 7 minute mark.

The NSX LM road car is easily the winner in the group I mentioned, but that's also because it handles like a dream.

I really enjoyed doing that little comparison but after a little thinking I started to realize that doing tests based on pwr might be pretty hard in arcade mode.
I would actually have to do the math myself!

For now I'm just gonna let the idea simmer, but I may turn up the heat shortly and see what sort of tests I can do.

In the mean time, while that test is on the back burner, I'm gonna try to get the Skyline GTR LM road car.

Has anyone driven it?
With how well they improved car handling for so many of the hogs from gt3 I have a feeling the gtr might be nice.
Not sure about that, but in the last game I thought the 12 was horrible, the xj220 was really bad and the zondas were just pathetic.
But with gt4 it seems all of those were improved. 👍
Let's hope the same for the gtr road car. ;)

From what we've talked about we have a pretty good handle on what are good low/mid/mih-high power to weight.

For the high and super highs I guess:
tvr
aston martin
nsx

what about RUF cars... and hmmm mercedes??? any good p.w.r. BMWs??

Mercedes?
:indiff:
Maybe the SLR if you're looking for a heavy weight with a good pwr.
Other than that most of them are pretty heavy.
The SLK might be worthy of checking out but I haven't done that so I can't really say.

BMW?
Nothing really comes to mind in a pwr discussion.
I love the BMWs in the game, m3, m coupe, etc. but most of them are pretty much average with no unusually light or fast cars to mention (if race cars were the subject it would be different :trouble: ).
The torque to weight ratio on the diesel 120 is great. 👍
Check it out if you have the time & Cr.

RUF?
Excellent brand. :D
Standouts are across the board.
The 3400s is a great MR car with an excellent balance of power to weight. Handles well and seems to be good with braking too.
The CTR2... I don't know this car very well at all... Time for some testing. :trouble:
The RGT is one of my favorite cars in the game, its PWR is nothing to get crazy over but the car's potential is amazing.
... BTR & Yellow Bird...
These are the monsters of the group. Light weight and powerful, they are some of the best cars in the game.

Well,
That's my take on the companies mentioned.

However, I just want to add that one car hasn't had much attention paid... The RX7. 👍
Any generation, any year- they are all powerful and light weight. :D

Kent the GT-R LM in GT4 I thought was much better than the one in GT3. Still feels dated compared to the more modern machinery but it's more of a race car than the heavy handling brick it was in GT3.

I found the time to win the gtr cup. :(
The LM road car is alright, but not great.

I was really looking forward to seeing that sweet 1270kg weight from some of the other new-age skylines.
Sadly, the Nismo R33 LM was at about 1320kg (being nice about that est. too). :indiff:

Luckily it still had some redeeming qualities in the form of good handling.
Brakes weren't great, but the turning under throttle wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.

Don't get me wrong, the thing isn't exactly full speed turn material, but tight turns are easy and free moving.
Even more so as the speed of the car goes down.

Moving on:
I'm really looking for something new in gt4.
I feel like there is a super car somewhere and I just can't find it.
Btw, I really enjoy the street cars in this game. 👍

If any of you know a great street car worthy of mention, please say something. :)

on the topic of speed 12 someone probably already said this in another post but in gt4 it has major wheelspin problems so its 0-60 is serverely sacrificed, on the other hand all that power does = a very impressive top speed

the Zonda is my fave. it was my fastest round the ring at 7'02 or something. the nardo beats it though. under 7 mins. ad yes, the jag is awesome and so is the saleen.

live4speed
The Speed 12 is the fastest stock car round the ring in GT4, the ZZ-II may be able to beat it in the right hands but that comes with adjustable parts so you can tweak it to the track. I've ran the 12 at under 7 mins at the ring and I'm not that good compared to many, but thats far faster than any other car I'd be driving, the ZZ-II with stock settings is closest at around 7'10. It is a far better performer in real life, however I did manage to win the last race of the GT all stars in my stock one beating cars like the 787B, Sauber and 88C-V.

My stock Ford GT ran about a 6'59.909 in the 'Ring', and I did mess up a couple of times.

If any of you know a great street car worthy of mention, please say something. :)

You already know, but that RUF BTR has got to be the drive of the game. Fully Upgraded 700hp with Stage 3 weight reduction and Super Softs, it's awesome.

Mine does do the stangest thing though, It under steers towards the inside of the corner sometimes, if that makes sence.

It's not that the back wheel have lost grip either, they are clearly gripped to the ground. The front wheels just seem to defy physics. I saved a replay of it, I watch it and it boggles me everytime...

Well for $5700 right at the start you can get a good ol crx sir 160 hp (from 2nd hand yard+oil change only) and it weighs 938kg stock :D.
Was able to get all sunday cup and FF races no trouble on my 2nd time through, drives like a go cart heh

caterham 7 fireblade 225bhp at 10450rpm and weighing in at 335 kg =1.471 power 2 weight

also... WHY is it called RUF????? isn't it PORSCHE??? what the hell damn it.

inferno
The speed twelve is crazy, but others are catching up. Still no one is even close though.
Did anyone say Koenigsegg CCR?

also... WHY is it called RUF????? isn't it PORSCHE??? what the hell damn it.
Because that's what it is, an Ruf, not a Porsche.

Let me explain, Ruf does use Porsche bodies and a few other parts from the Porsche production line. The reason they arn't tuned Porsches is because they don't take a base model and tune it, they take the parts they want from Porsche before they are assembled or become part of any particular model, then the use their own parts to complete the car, they use quite a lot of their own parts actually. So because none of the Porsche parts come from a car, theres no base car to tune up in the first place, they can't be classed as a tuner, and they use enough of their own parts to be classed as their own marquee.

As far hp/weight ratio what about the the s2000 , viper and corvette C5?

zoxxy
Did anyone say Koenigsegg CCR?

Could someone post a picture of this thing? Please.

Not sure I know what this car is. :dunce:  :D

koenigsegg.jpg

It's currently the worlds fastest production car ever, beating the McLaren F1's speed on a tighter circuit.

Oh, that's why I didn't recognize it.

I didn't know what it was at all.

I thought there was a super car in gt4 that I didn't have.
Out of curiosity, has anyone spent the time to go through the entire car list and sort out what's really worth having and what's not.

For example, right now I am trying to gather every last one of the super street cars.
Any thing with something special about it... Something really worthy of being in the GT games.

So with that quest in mind, I feel like I'm missing something...

Oh well, catch you all around a little later.
For now I'm off to start one more saturday night! Yeah, saturday night!

That depends what you've already got, I don't always enjoy the fastest cars, I like cars with a kind of personality when you drive them. It's Sunday for me though, Saturday's come and gone.

Ya so true. That's why I am enjoying all the classic cars of this game way more than any of the new cars or super cars!

I mean I got plenty of the super car enjoyment from gt2 and gt3. there's something to be said about the beauty of the classic cars. and most importantly the personality of the classics that new cars dont have.

Most of the best art (anything creative) is not perfect.

*but maybe i am reading into it way too much and being a complete idiot :ouch: :dunce: :dunce: :dunce: *

No, that's so true, cars like the Ginetta while flawed and not as fast as more modern cars, it's a blast to drive. I enjoy driving modern cars as well, but if it has a good character, the way it handles ec, thats the most important. Thats one of the reasons I persisted in learning the Speed 12, it was a pain in the ass, but it drives like nothing else in the game.

Just yesterday I got a new super car that I really enjoyed.

It was after winning the Type R meeting in the honda dealer...

The Acura HSC.

I was suprised by this car for several reasons, however, it was the handling that suprised me the most.

The HSC felt just like I had hoped... It felt like a bad-ass NSX. 👍

It doesn't hurt that I drove a '92 NSX type R in A-spec for all of the races.
That gave me a great sense of what to expect from the NSXs. 👍

Well, when I got that HSC I went straight to arcade mode and tried out a full quick-tune version of it. :D

It was really nice. 👍
The power wasn't all that high (around 350hp) and the weight was pretty low (about 1050kg).
This ended up giving the car a really well balanced feel thanks to the reasonable PWR and the great handling.

I was impressed and not in the same way I was with the other cars mentioned in this thread.
With other cars I was suprised simply because the previous versions of the car were horrible.

This time there was no previous version of the car so my judgements are based soley on the car tested in GT4.
With that said, I was still impressed with the overall handling and feel of the car.

Sure it's not the best in the game, but it surely is one of the better cars to pick from. 👍
