In GT4 my favourite always was 787B and Nissan R92CP because their unique style and exceptional driving experience. But I'm not so far in GT5 so I will see...

The Mclaren F1 GTR Race car is a nice surprise in GT5... a lot quicker than it was back in GT4... you can win any race whit this beauty 👍

The Audi R8 prototype is also a very good race car. In GT4 I used both the R8 and the 787B in a lot of races. Both of these cars did great with tire wear and fuel. The 787B is my favorite but I do not like the green/orange colors. I used the black one in Gt4.

The Mclaren F1 GTR was very fast in GT4 as well. Still can't hang with the big boys but in the GT classes it can hang with the best.

I also like the Mercedes CLk GTR That one is seriously fast. I was smoking my brothers fully modded ZR1 RM with the CLK GTR and all I did was changed the oil and put tires on it. Haven't even upgraded the engine yet :)

I'd take the minolta on an oval track and the formula GT on any road course. Minolta lb. for lb. Is top 10 car in game. And you win it for free. The real question should be, which car to buy to win "gone with the wind" and GT all-stars.

can't hang whit the big boys? have you tried the F1 GTR yet? if yes how can you say something like that?!... and the ZR1 RM is no mach against the CLK GTR!! you like easy winning :D

The F1 GTR is not as fast as the group C cars and LMP's if that's what he means by the 'big boys' :)

I tried it in the arcade mode ("hard" lv) and the C group cars (AI) stays far behind me... of course is not as fast as the 787 or the Minolta but I have to push hard my R8 to keep whit the F1... so LMP cars are similar to the F1.

Mazda Miura (win in level 6 B-spec Mazda event)

By the big boys I mean cars like the Minolta, 908, 787B and such.

To answer your question, no I have not tried it yet in GT5 but it is a GTR which means it should be close in performance to the CLK GTR which is very strong but can not hold it's own with the big boys. Of course if the AI is driving the big boys you can win with ease on many tracks using these cars just not when a good driver is behind the wheel. That extra downforce will get you every time.

The bentley speed 8 is by far my favorite car to drive. I have all of the cars stated in this thread except for the clk gtr and the bentley takes the cake. Not sure as to why but i just feel so much smoother in the 8.

You mean the Mazda Furai, the Muiras a Lamborghini. The Furai is what I used to win both races in Like the Wind, not used the 88C-V yet though. I plan on giving it a go in the GT All Stars later.

Well you kind of have to separate the cars into different categories. The Zonda R and Citroen GT race car are both production based models. So is the McLaren F1.

The LMP (Le Mans Prototypes) cars are the 787B, the 908 and the R10. Those are the only premium model modern LMPs in the game. The beautiful Ferrari 330, the Ford Mark V and the Jaguar XJ13 are classic prototypes.

For me personally, the Zonda R is the fastest and best performing production based race car in the game. I like the McLaren F1 better but the Zonda is a little faster. The Citroen race car's best attribute is its looks. It's performance is a bit clunky in comparison to the other two.

In terms of LMPs, I really love the 787B but the Peugeot 908 is the best prototype in the game. You have to play with the setup a bit in order to get it into the sweet spot but once it's dialed in, the car is unbelievable. I haven't used the R10 but the info available suggests that the performance is beneath that of the 908.

Sitting here cycling through the used lots looking for the FGT. SO many awesome racecars keep coming through. So tempting... :(

lol i did this with 10.2 mill credits, needless to say my bentley came up first for 5.5mill then 1 more cycle for my fgt for 4.5 mill lol blew 10 mill in 2 cycles

oh another thing about the bentley, its a standard car so you cant take any nice photos of her :( same for the fgt :ouch:

Not had the pleasure of trying the 787b yet in GT5 :( it's the main car left on my wishlist too :ouch:

The Minolta is awesome to drive though and if i can get a car to beat it around the ring clean ( other than an FGT ) I will be impressed and happy as a pig in muck ;) 👍

Yep, the Minolta for me too followed by the Sauber. That said I haven;t driven many.:grumpy:

The Toyota 7 is a colossal disappointment for me. After all the effort to get it in the game, then its crap.:dunce:

What? Can't take pictures?? Why?

i was wondering which race car i'd need to get to do the like the wind, ive got a fully tuned Zonda R but it doesnt seem to get anywhere close :( ?

I'm only at level 19 currently, but I was wondering if any of you have tried out either the Mazda Furai (saw at least 1 person comment on it) or ZR-1 RM for those later events and how successful they were against the competition. Fully expecting that they'd both likely need to be maxed out to be competitive.

Like the Wind is winnable with either car, but the Furai is the cheaper option of course. You receive the Minolta for winning Like the Wind which you can use to easily win the rest of the races without restrictions.

Thanks for the heads-up on that. It'll probably be about a month or so from now that I actually get to that point, though, as the Mrs. has been on my case the past few days about my playing habits. :)

Toyota Minolta is so far the fastest car i have driven, how much faster are the F10/F2007/FGT compare to the Minolta?

The FGT is capable of about the same speeds as the Minolta but it accelerates faster and corners better. On any kind of tight track it will destroy all of the LMP cars but on a very high speed track they will fair a bit better.

Of Course the X1 destroys everything everywhere.

My favorite is the Furai, only because it's dirt cheap to fix and is dead sexy. I don't want to grind in the Minolta because the repairs are so damn expensive.
