best rally game to date.

so what do u guys think? i bought cmr 3 but im thinking of taking it back, becuase playing with just the focus is kinda gay as its always been my least favourite wrc car. so it basically boils down to: is cmr 4 really much better than wrc II extreme or indeed the first wrc?

cmr3 is just too little, two modes of play, one car, no proper car setup and 3 views... it sucks a55, theyve taken a step back from the 2nd game, which i loved on pc. the driving model, sound and graphics are really fantastic though. its too small a game, imo.

help me out here...

i didnt get that sensation with WRC although it gets my vote nonetheless for best all time rally game....

i havent played the full version of CM4 though....only the demo.

Its a close call between CM4 and WRC II EXtreme.

CM4's strong points include the range of cars (4wd, 2wd, Group B and a good selection of specials), imaginative track design and excellent level of vehicle detail. It's weak points are very poor replays (only important if you bother to watch them) and limited setup options.

WRC II Extreme's strong points are mainly to do with the licence, it has all the 2002 session WRC cars and drivers (bar a certain Scotsman), the tracks are also taken from actual WRC stage data and look very impresive, the replays are pretty good (the cars however do look a bit floaty at times). It's weak points are the limited range of cars, you can open a few Extreme models of current WRC models and a few very poorly designed 'fantasy' stages. The handling also divides opinion, you tend to love or loath it, very few people fall into the middle ground.

I would be had pushed to pick one as being better than the other, thats why I have both.

If you just want a good solid rally game then I would go for CM4, it gives you more scope and options. If you love the WRC then go for WRC II Extreme, it will let you live the fantasy of driving the actual cars on the actual stages.

If possiable buy both from a shop with a good return policy (Game in the UK for example), then you can take back the one you don't like. However be careful - you may end up keeping both!

Hope this helps.

You are right about CM3, by far the most limited rally game ever. Force me to drive a bloody Focus will you!

I think we'll have to wait untill WRCIII comes out. I hope the dammage model is improved, it sucked in WRCII.

Can't argue with the damage bit, drive into a tree at 120mph, the result = a small dent!

Or fly miles into the air and land on your roof = your bumper falling off. The internal damage wasn't too bad though.
CMR4 is great in showing damage though, just from playing the demo on the X-box.

Do you really mean WRC and not WRC2 Extreme? WRC2 is pretty good..

^well out here, wrc II is half the price of cmr4, so i guess ill go that. i love the wrc and the fact that it has licsensed cars and tracks... should be awesome. ill wait for wrcIII to come out, then maybe cmr 4 will come down, till then i think wrcII seems to be the winner.

i meant WRC not WRC2, i have both games and prefer the first....i hate the way you always spin round to face teh opposite way when you hit a wall or tree in wrc2, its very frustrating....
despite its inferior graphics, i prefer the first....its more fun

i just swapped cmr3 for wrc II. im extremely impressed by the game. the model took some getting used but yeh, it rocks, heaps of fun and realistic. the cars sound and look unreal too, as do the tracks. its much better value for money than cmr3. i might look at cmr4 when the price comes down. does wrc II have the japanese rally?
