What is the best torque upgrade (usually)? I don't care for the HP, just torque.

I think just upgrade turbo, the torque should increase together with horse power. I dont know there is any perticular part can help you improve torque.

Yeah, I think superchargers add mmore torque than an equivalent turbo. I put a Stage 5 turbo on one of my AE86s, and supercharged the other. Although the Stage 5 car had the edge in power(249hp vs 22xhp), the supercharged car had more torque(2xxlb-ft vs 197lb-ft).

the 4AGE is more suited to be Supercharged than turbo, i take it you're asking about this for your AE86? If so, stick to the SC..

To my knowledge i believe a supercharger will give u more torque, which to me sounds like a better launch. If you buy a reg stage 1-4 turbo ulll get a better top end acceleration than to an SC. In some cars i noticed some come with a Stage 5 turbo. If you read the description on it, it states that its more focused on the torque compared to the other 1-4 stages. I recommend Stage 5 if u want the best speed and more torque output. 👍

Correct me if im wrong. Thx

The major thing a Supercharger does to torque is it shifts it more towards the low end of the powerband. So you get better torque at lower RPM, whereas a Stage 4 turbo will put all the torque at like 7000rpm...

try a combination of s.c. if you can, along with port/polish, exhaust, and flywheel. the concept is to hasten engine response and airflow.

not always the case, i wont explain in full detail but i recoment you do a bit of research. a roots style blower is designed for quick massive increase in fuel/air volume resulting in immidiate high power threashold. however centerfugal supercharging requires time to pressurize because it is a turbo wheel compressor that is belt driven like the roots blower.

small turbo chargers that are exhaust driven such as the one used on the audi 1.8t powerplant are designed for quick power application because they require very little time to pressurize. you are correct in saying that a stage 4 or so turbo upgrade is for high rpm torque do to the long turbo "lag"

Too bad there's no difference between supercharger types in the game ;) And if you are only interested in torque, stay away from the turbos. Stick with NA or Supercharging.

Thank you all, this has been a great help. I appreciate what you have done. However, This is for my Carbon R, not my AE86. (Hell, I haven't even bought the 86! I was gonna, but it had a lot of miles.)

How do you increase tourqe? but keep horsepower the same. Kind of like WRC cars, 300 horses, but tourqe is closer to 400+? (IRL)

Didn't want to make a new topic, when this one kind of goes along with that.

It's impossible. The way that's done in WRC is the engines are tuned for 400+ hp, then restricted (via throttle body diameter) to 300 hp. One wish for GT5 or the upcoming network-capable GT$ is to allow restrictors to keep all competitors in a series within an hp cap.

The prices are the same, man :) Really, the tuner villiage is pretty much pointless, as the only difference they have is the original suspension (useless, in my opinion), stage 5 turbo (only availabe for certain cars, and doesn't make that big of a difference), and their full models. I wish they'd made them more tuner-specific (i.e. variations between parts from different tuners) and included tuners for American/European cars. Oh well...I rarely go there.

Thanks a lot man, appreciate it.

This may not increase torque numbers, but for a more "torquey" feeling you can just make the gear ratios taller. that will increase acceleration and get the car rolling more quickly.
