i was thinking of getting the Thrustmaster RGT FFB Clutch Racing Wheel For PC & PS3 but im not sure its compatable with gt5 and that but otherwise best wheel for under 150?

You're only real options at 150$ are a DFGT with no clutch or used g27with clutch. Everything else is junk pretty much at that price range.

The Thrustmaster RGT is no junk. But (I have only the older version with 2 pedals) I am not sure, if clutch is supported by GT5.

The wheel works with GT5, but in a limited way. There is no chance to map the buttons. That's why I am thinking that maybe the 3rd pedal (clutch) is also not working in GT5...

Maybe someone else has experience?

Well the thrustmaster site claims to be compatible with GT5, this is really what Logitech needs to do to the DFGT, would make a lot of guys happy.

Sorry I was just going by the 270 degree wheel rotation, I just couldn't imagine buying a 270 degree wheel when you can get a dfgt or G27 for close to 150$. You could probably even pick up a used 911 turbo s wheel or other 900 degree fanatec wheel for 150$. I used the microsoft wheel for awhile and it was 270, i couldn't imagine going back to a 270 now since there are much better options in that price range.

I used a microsoft wheel to start with and i think it was 270. After using a 900 there is no way I would recommend a 270 wheel if there are other options in that same price range.

And really the clutch in GT5 is pretty bad anyway, I wouldn't base what I am buying to go with the clutch in GT5 if it is going to take away from more important wheel functions, like 900 degree rotation, good force feedback, and decent pedals (G27).

Really by far the best option in the 150$ range for new is a DFGT, or if you can go used a G27.

I didn't get your point here TBH.

Basically the RGT is compatible. But with handicapd (no mapping of buttons for example).

If you ask me, if you should go for the DFGT instead of RGT for GT5 (and forget the clutch) I would say YES!

In a different situation (PC) it might be a different story.

I agree with most of the people here. If you are going to invest $150 then wait if you have to, to spend a little more. For that extra $50 to $100 you will get a lot more for your money.

Like someone mentioned if you could spend an extra $100 you could get the GT3RS V2 bundle from Fanatec that comes with the CSR Elite pedals.

Wait, the RGT works at all with GT5? I have the clutch edition but I haven't tried it since there's nowhere to set it up for my PS3 and I heard it wasn't recognized at all. I might have to try it now.

I would like to see, if you try it out. As I said, the older RGT with only 2 pedals works basically. And according to Thrustmaster's homepage the clutch edition should work as well. I am just not sure about the clutch pedal, as my RGT works in a limited way. As I said, I have no possibility to map the buttons. And the two analogue paddles behind the wheel are gas and brake for example. Also the sequential shifter (the stick) does not work, only the digital paddle shifters do work.

Carrera Fanatec does all you want, I have one it is a great wheel and very inexpensive.

The Carrera wheel has been discontinued and the pedals are the weak point of the package.

LOL, nostalgia, that was my first Fanatec wheel, I had it for 2 weeks.
...because it gave up the ghost with 888 failure...

...but Fanatec kindly upgraded me to a GT3 RS.
Might have kept the pedals if BasherBoards pedal filter been available back then.

It was a good deal for the money when it was available though, included H shifter too for (US$)159.95.

The closest entry-level package that includes a wheel and clutch from Fanatec at present is the Porsche 911 GT3 RS V2 Value Pack US for (US$)199.95. Unlike the original Carrera bundle this does not include a standalone H-shifter.

Entry-level Porsche shifter sets are available for an additional (US$)29.95 on Fanatec's USA web shop.

Thank you, Billy Mays! (This comment is meant to be a joke, as you were ignoring the OPs question and instead giving information about fanatec wheels that he clearly didn't want as it was above his price range. If he goes up to 200$ in his price rance, this post is useful. Untill then, however...........

Bunt that ball Reggie J.! (meant as a joke), actually my post was a follow up to the two preceding comments by Cote Dazur, and Mahnegold. I guess you overlooked that in your "Scholarly" zeal to inform me I hit a foul ball? 💡

So let me re-phrase for your benefit, as the Carrera wheel is no longer available, it does not answer the OP question (strange you chose not to address that either :sly:), and the closest package to that now available from Fanatec is above the OPs price range.

Potentially useful information to those that might not be aware of the pricing of said product(s).

You are correct, I thought the Carrera was still available in Europe, but it is not.
If it is anything like here, there seem to be a lot of used Carrera available on the 2nd hand market. As for the pedals, mrbasher as a very efficient fix for the issue with the brake. This package was quite a bang for the buck for anyone wanting to get a taste of a set up with good ff and clutch with gate shifter.

There really is nothing in the $150 price range of any significance. If you are going to extend yourself to $199 then I suggest you go the rest of the way and get the Porsche 911 GT3 RS V2 XL package with the Elite Pedals and Shifters.

So these 2nd hand Carrera wheels.... I don't see any of these on the west coast market. In fact you seldom see any Fanatec stuff at all (2 times in over a year), where there are always G27 packages available.

There are several Fanatec wheels on ebay right now...

One guy in particular has them quite a bit. Kind of odd really.

When he said 2nd hand market I thought he meant locally, as in Craigslist. But even when I put Fanatec in eBay not a lot comes back, in fact I just did it now and all I got were wheel stands save one wheel for an old speedster wheel.

Maybe not not now Ripster, but there are constantly people selling Fanatec stuff on eBay.

Please excuse the OT excursion all.

Gotcha. But there are several wheels on ebay, some with stands, some not.

No matter, none are in his price range with the exception of this one (2nd one down) and it apparently has some issues and no pedals:

I think I have seen those too.

Way deep in the OT woods and far away from MrPainCake's OP now...

Partially back on OT now, I think this old Fanatec Speedster 2 wheel on eBay UK with integrated shifter (but no clutch) is the one Ripster mentioned.
