As I am currently designing my cockpit I am uncertain on which wheel I want to go with. Keep in mind right now the only limitations is that it will be dedicated to the GT series on the PS3.

Right now the only thing I see are:

Fanatec GT3 RS Version 2 with Clubsport and Shifter

or

G27 with Perfect Pedal mod

Modding isn't a big concern as is why I am leaning towards the G27. Are there any mods or aftermarket mods to the G27 shifter??

Any suggestions would be awesome

As a Fanatec owner (Porsche 911 Turbo S Clubsport Edition) I would have to recommend the GT3 but with the Clubsport pedals as the Perfect Pedal mod seems less value for money with no discernible advantage over the Fanatec pedal's commonly held brilliant performance, fantastic build quality and adjustability. If modding is not an issue for you then also get the adjustment kit for the pedals that allows you alter all 3 pedals to your preference as opposed to simply the brake.

I have noticed however (on the UK site at least) that the kit is not on the website as I type

If you have seen my videos my general consensus was this. Unless you can get the g27 pedals; gas and clutch to feel as good as the Fanatec pedals they will always be inferior imo. Just because the perfect pedal brake is awesome/amazing the rest of the pedals (gas and clutch) are majorly lacking.

Of course you could get some CST pedals once they make the ps3 adapter, I plan to.

Thanks stega, I did watch your videos, I missed a lot of info in there you were making me nervous, :)

Is it possible to reverse mount the clupsort pedals, also are there any distributors out there that sell the pedal tuning kit as fanatec doesn't have it up in there store I tried contacting them but they never answered either of these questions.

Racer XO has reverse mounted his Fanatec Clubsports...

The process would be simple but somewhat time consuming.
If you want some help just ask.

As for the tuning kit, Fanatec is the only spot.
I don't see it on their site either; must be out of stock. But I have one ;)

I think the GT3RS v2 you have your eye on is the way to go. The Perfect Pedal sounds awesome, but you're still stuck with a G25/G27 pedal set. Don't get me wrong; I think Logitech has the best truly mass market pedals on the market. The ClubSport Pedals, overall, are really, really nice.

Don't worry about the tuning kit for now. Yeah, all the new bits and pieces are nice (I like the shorter metal space combined with the brake adjusted for short throw), but you can still make a ton of adjustments to the stock set. You can adjust spring tension with a nut on the back. You can adjust pedal stagger and position. You can even adjust brake throw.

Chunx over at SimHQ posted a great tech article covering a lot of the tuning possibilities: http://www.simhq.com/_technology/technology_016a.html

Hi stega, teccboxx

There was a very detailed guide on inverting the pedals here >>>> dead link >>>>http://www.gtforums.co.uk/gtforumsc1/showthread.php?tid=224

However the forums are now dead so the only thing I could recommend is that you follow Thomas` youtube vid on adjusting the pedals and just switch the end connectors for the clutch and gas http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=54iQktxDQOM&feature=related

Just be careful of pulling too much on the cable that attaches to the brake sensor and the gas pedal, other than that it's pretty straight forward.

That was actually my guide, sadly GTF is no longer...

Was it Latte I didn't know that

Ive got a surprise mod in the pipeline for mine and it will do something thats quite interesting.
All will be revealed in time during the build process of my own project. :sly:

To do the invert is rather easy, heres the PCBA photo...

Pedals reversed and upside down.
Holes on the feet mean its easy to bolt these pedals inverted to a secure wooden or metal upright

Fanatec's CSP little bit of magic with rumble brake but what if more could be done to increase the immersion?
I wonder, mmmmm

As for the OP keep in mind Fanatec will have a new shifter coming probably by next year but many of us at GTP would rate the Fanatec over the G27

My vote absolutely goes for GT3 RS V2. I knowit's hard to make an absolute statement, especially if you haven't used a GT3 RS (I haven't). But I do own a G25 and have been reading about Fanatec wheels for a long time and I really do think they are the way to go. Especially since the new version was released and all the problems people previously had are fixed. I think it's a way better buy even if you don't take the quality and performance of clubsport pedals into account.

Thanks guys, I will be placing my order shortly for the GT3, I was wondering does anyone have any pictures of the fanatecs shifters opened up?

Latte are there any voltage specs on the brake rumble motor. Any clues on your mod!!

If you search on youtube for Fanatec shifter mod you can find pics/video of it opened up. And what do you mean by opened up? I have pics of mine w/o the knob and stuff like that.

I hate secrets!! :nervous: How did u make the abs vibration better lol!??!

Every-time I seem to be content with my cockpit Latte will go ahead and show me something and I'm like "noooooooo I need it/that!!!"

I think I got the way I want to do my sequential shifter mod, and will just wait for the CS H-shift but waondering has anyone been able to add a ebrake to the fanatec??

Yes there are videos/pics online. You need to solder a wire to the ebrake button on the pcb, just like the g27 shifter handbrake mod. Fanatec is also making a CS Handbrake fyi.

May be a dumb question, as I am waiting forr my wheel to arrive, can anyone veryify if you have a wheek hooked up if you can use the wheel and ps3 controller at the same time. In other words use the steering wheel to steer and the controller o brake/shift.

No this isn't how I am going to drive just deciding how I want to design my cockpit.

No you can't do this. As either the controller or wheel will be recognized as player 1.
