Is it just me? I'm bummed that even in 2017/2018, PD don't let us view cars at our own leisure - meaning giving us control over the camera, like most other games do. That is true for the "View car"-mode which shows you some pretty drivebys and also on track where you can not rotate the camera around the car unless in photo mode.

All that even though there is a great viewing tool already in the game - in the livery editor, with rotating and zooming and everything! Unfortunately you can not view racecars in it because it strips colours and decals from the car. Why can't PD add this as an option to the "View car"-mode?

Try this:-

Choose a track and time of day which provides the lighting you'd like
Enter a race or Time Trial, position your car how you want it
Terminate the event immediately
Go to "replay", and when your car is in the chosen spot, enter walk-around camera mode

I wish we could take photo mode shots in the livery editor.

Yeah, that works, but there should be an easier way of doing this.

How would you take photos of a car in real life? Pretty much as I described I'd guess. That's too hard?

My qualm is not primarily about taking pictures - the photo modes in the game are marvellous. It's about the intricate car details, and the fact that you can only do that on the track. I've always liked model viewers in games, be it planes in Ace Combat or the protagonists in the Arkham games.

The level of detail on the car in track photo mode is much lower than the full models presented in for example scapes so it's not really optimal if you want to see the cars to their full potential.
