So, out of nowhere, in the last few days, Ubisoft removed the original game from digital stores with NO advance notice.
And then soon after, we have a trailer and release date for the new edition which is out next week.
I played the original 20 years ago and LOVED it. I will wait to see some reviews/feedback from my usual reliable sources (hint not IGN ) and if the price point is right, I really look forward to playing this classic and unique game again.

Did you play the original? What are your thoughts on the latest version and the stealth removal of the previous "HD Version"?

(PS nothing new has come to light on the lost in development hell second game).

I'm really excited about this, it's one of the most memorable games I have ever played. I played the original 20 years ago and the HD version, though I don't recall them removing stealth in it but it's been a while since I've played it. Hoping the music is still mostly the same, as it was/is one of the greatest videogame soundtracks in my opinion. For such a relatively short game it delivered an experience some massive, big budget games can't even do.

The 20th Anniversary Edition is 20€/$20/£20 and it's available now it looks like, I checked the PS store.

Also, Ubisoft has confirmed that the sequel is still in development as of today, but nothing other than that on it.

I'm wondering if a sequel is even necessary. I'd have loved to see one but it's hard to imagine they can make a game that captures the feel of the original while still making it appealing to modern audiences and new players. I'd also love to be proven wrong. They did apparently add a new mission to the 20th Anniversary Edition game which will be a link to BG&E2.

I downloaded and started playing the 20th Anniversary Edition last night. Played for a good few hours (after frustratingly trying to log into a Ubisoft account) and having a good time. The visuals are good, pretty sure they added new lighting and possibly updated/more detailed textures in some cases, may be wrong on that, but it looks good overall. Had a quick look at the added gallery, it's nice to see art and concepts of the game as far back as 1999. Also looks like they added new weapons, character outfits and colors for the hovercraft.

Hard pass. The trailer they released a few years back convinced me the game wouldn’t be for me.

Will likely pick up this remaster, haven’t played the original for about 15 years. So many games in the backlog though.

I put down this game until it's patched... sadly my game is glitched and music is no longer playing after a few hours in. Bummed because that's a big part of the game!
