First off, I just wanted to thank you guys for getting this competition to week #10 (or, more accurately week 20). Keep it up, everyone!

The rules are as follows:

  • Entries will accepted until 11:59pm (GMT) September 26th.
  • Each competition's voting will last for one week. The winner of that round will choose the next theme.
  • All entries must have been taken within the last 6 months and preferably after the announcement of the theme.
  • Entries must be posted as a thumbnail no larger than 700px on the longest edge. Full sized images may be as larger as you'd like.*
  • You must submit only your own photographs, do not post anyone else's work.
  • Only one photograph per person, marked with Final Entry. You can change your entry, but must remove your current entry first and clearly state that you have posted a new entry.
  • You must not vote for your own photograph when the Poll is up. Only vote for a photograph taken by another entrant.
  • The photograph must be submitted with the following information: Subject, Date and Camera used and, if you'd like, the major camera settings - shutter speed, ISO, etc.

*While full sized images may be as larger as you'd like, you should try to limit them to approximately 1200px to enable viewing the entire image without scrolling. It's much easier to see the full effect of the shot when you can view it all at once and not have to pan.

Current theme, chosen by Week #8 winner Azuremen:
Still life, but not strictly speaking studio arrangement
Outside, inside, it's all good, provided it's inanimate!

Good luck, everyone!

Well, now, that's going to bring everything to a standstill. ;)

Thanks to you, too, TB for all the effort you took - and are taking - in getting this going and keeping it running. In fact it seems more people are coming in every week - so, that of course means more work for you, hee hee.. . . 👍

The classic still life is the customary bowl of fruit or vase of large droopy flowers, but I'm going to hazard a guess that there'll be none of that!

Aaaaaahhh! I hate still life!

FINAL ENTRY

I AM FILM

21/04/2012

Nikon D200 | Sigma 30mm f/1.4

They say film is dead, so I'm pretty sure that's inanimate.

Ohh count me in after I forgot, hadn't time the last 2 comps.

final entry

canon rebel t3i (600d)
f/6.7 • 187mm • 0.7s • ISO-100

I've been waiting to use this photo for something. The photo information is basically irrelevant because I don't remember what lens I had reversed for this shot.

Been looking at a few still life photographs and I'm realizing mine doesn't really fit the category, will try to get something different up soon.

hello folks , well iam not quite sure about the theme or my entry i hope i understood it right so ... if it´s wrong just PM me and i change it asap.

cheers

Cool theme :) Lets see if I have anything fitting to post 👍

I intended for it to be fairly broad in nature, mostly things that "still" and inanimate versus grand landscapes, action shots, or portraits.

Inspiring shots so far.
I have a few of my own in mind, but not sure yet what to submit. Will be back later.

TB, do you need help running this? You've seemed a little short of time the past few weeks.

Yeah, I guess as a full-time Dad, like me, he probably is in a state of physical schitzophrenia. Like the movie Multiplicity.

TB - you've done a great job getting this going and maintaining it - so please - if you need us to take over and keep it going . . .just say the word. I can't help out much myself, but I think there may be other photodogs here that could bark and keep watch if not equally well, then at least capably. ;)

I do hope everything's fine with you - and my kind regards to your family. 👍

Should someone go ahead and create the poll? I could do the thread for week 11 seeing as I'm choosing the theme?
It say's TB was active just 6 hours ago, not too sure what's going on

I PM'ed him about it a day or two ago but he didn't get back to me, I think he's been quite busy lately. Not really sure what to do

So here's the deal.

First off, I got a week off and should have, but clearly never did, checked back in here to see just how far behind I was. :dunce: Then Solo's PM had me thinking for the last few days, and as it was so close to Wednesday, I figured I'd just let this one slide for a few more days to get back to Wednesday, which I should have conveyed to you guys earlier. My apologies there, too. :guilty:

I've got a PM in to Pagey for the next theme and once I hear back the new theme will be posted. The poll will also be done tomorrow.

If I'm completely honest, starting the new threads don't take all that much time but for some reason I just can't get on a decent schedule. In part, I blame being on the app more than on the computer and starting the poll just isn't possible and the new threads are a bit of a pain to copy/paste.

One thought I had, and I'm not a fan of it, is the winner could host their competition - start the new thread, the resulting poll and then pass it on to that winner. My fear is that might be too much jumping around between people.

Either that or I can get off my lazy ass and keep better track of the dates to stay on schedule. :)

Really, this is not a got idea. For all sorts of reasons.

Why don't you just pass the whole competition to someone else? Or give someone the permission to automatically post new competitions/polls when you slip a date for some reason.
