The rules are as follows:

  • Entries will accepted until 11:59pm (GMT) December 26th.
  • Each competition's voting will last for one week. The winner of that round will choose the next theme.
  • All entries must have been taken within the last 6 months and preferably after the announcement of the theme.
  • Entries must be posted as a thumbnail no larger than 700px on the longest edge. Full sized images may be as larger as you'd like.*
  • You must submit only your own photographs, do not post anyone else's work.
  • Only one photograph per person, marked with Final Entry. You can change your entry, but must remove your current entry first and clearly state that you have posted a new entry.
  • You must not vote for your own photograph when the Poll is up. Only vote for a photograph taken by another entrant.
  • The photograph must be submitted with the following information: Subject, Date and Camera used and, if you'd like, the major camera settings - shutter speed, ISO, etc.
*While full sized images may be as larger as you'd like, you should try to limit them to approximately 1200px to enable viewing the entire image without scrolling. It's much easier to see the full effect of the shot when you can view it all at once and not have to pan.

Current theme, chosen by Week #12 winner DiabolicalMask:

While I like the idea of this theme, I'd like to raise just a slight issue with it.

All entries must have been taken within the last 6 months and preferably after the announcement of the theme.

I do usually try and take my photo after the theme has been announced, rather than plundering the archives. Potentially, I have an Autumn shot knocking around somewhere which I've taken before the season ended... but if I decide I don't want to run any of those shots, the Autumn boat has rather sailed for those of us above a certain latitude...

I see your point there HFS. I shall drop DiabolicalMask a message and see what he thinks about it and if he would have an alternate theme available for this fortnight. 👍

However if not I think that will be a rule I'm happy enough to be more lenient on for this time round.

I'd clarify that I don't object to using a shot I did take during the Autumn for the theme - my point is more that if there's nothing I really want to submit, then I'm a bit screwed as it's very much winter now - so I'll probably just sit this one out.

Not forgetting those in the southern hemisphere have had more than 6 months since Autumn anyway...

To be honest both of those points completely passed me by, but are both sensible. I have proposed the alteration to the theme to be 'seasons' so a photo depicting a season clearly which would leave the possibility of the Autumn shots as DiabolicalMask originally wanted. I will update it when he gets back to me.

This is great! There is no autumn in the Philippines! :grumpy:

Oh wait! I just went to Korea during fall! :D I'll think of which shots to choose!

Blasted away by theme change....

Guys, I'm sorry.

Now that you mention it, it was indeed a bit selfish of me to choose that theme. I don't actually have taken any autumn shots, but around me there are still lots of autumn colours and sceneries, that's why that theme came to mind.

I've already PM'd Soloracer3 with a new theme.

Again, sorry.

I was searching for the right autumn shot until this new theme got up!

Haha, sorry Jus. I decided it would be better for entries to alter the theme in this isntance as it would have been very limiting if not. This won't happen regularly as I will be more careful in my approval of the themes 👍

Blasted away by theme change....

Shame, that was a good shot you had there 👍

Nevertheless the new theme is a good one, I will have to head to the city centre at some point.

Seconded, sorry for asking about a theme change but there are some of us who basically wouldn't have been able to take part with the old one. Christmas lights should be a bit more all-encompassing.

Thanks for sorting that out, guys. I agree - 'twas a little late for Fall - which :grumpy: I missed this year - and I'm still suffering from withdrawals. Fall sneaked by so quick this year that I'm not ready for Winter at all - since I'm still waiting for Fall. Or Autumn as I once learned to call it, 'fore I was asked to forget calling it that . . . ;)

Christmas Lights seems a lot more appropriate - though cliched and hacked to death as a Photography theme - this only gives us a greater challenge to come up with something new.

So far it seems like only Jordan's winning - I'm finding it hard to beat the lights up here already - since they actually blink.

BTW - That was a great shot wfooshee - glad I caught it. 👍

See, that's the thing about seasons. They happen differently. Late for Fall? Not hardly. It's just getting here! That pic I posted was this past Saturday! Dang Canadians with their September leaves...... :dopey:

*** Looks around the neighborhood for something cool..... ***

(I see you made a Fall thread. I might go over there and play....)

Final

Panasonic DMC-G2 Exposure 0.167 sec (1/6) Aperture f/1.7
Focal Length 20mm ISO Speed 250
Going for the blurred light look.

I might get in on this action tomorrow. gives me an excuse to dust off the kit.

I look also for tomorrow. Had made a photoalbum for my parents for xmas which took an enormous amount of time. 400 Pictures PP takes time.

Trying to get back into the swing of posting on here again.

Isn't that by the jewelry store Joey used to work at?

I'll try for a shot tonight.

Yep, about a block down roughly. Looks so awesome year after year, I love going over to see it.

Only two entries so far? I hope you're all sitting on something for the last 24h of it being open

Yeah sorry haven't found the time to shoot something useful yet.

Wait a week and the thread should be full ;)

Cool shot, Nismo. Colors are pretty!

Looks like there is no more people putting shots in tonight so I'm going to give it another week if that is ok with everyone? Unless of course no one can get shots they like and are awaiting the new theme?

Another week would be helpful for me - I've been stupidly busy this week so not been able to get any shots.

I surely there will be more entries after, well x-mas. I'm posting mine when the x-mas tree is ready...

Now now, I'm all ready now I'm just trying to get more than two entries! :p

Maybe one from yourself even?

I'll probably go out tonight or tomorrow seeing how it is finally starting to snow and stuff :p
