Wow, this thing is awesome. It's balance is unbelievable.

We'll have some amazing robo puppies in the next 10 years, that's for sure!

That, is incredible  -the way it handled been pushed like that and walking on the ice

Wow! I guess defence contractors have already got their pens out! Now as long as they can stop it from sounding like a swarm of bees I can see some great uses for this technology. Ditto the ice and the push that was just uncanny! Where and by whom was this made?

The only problem is that if one leg gets damaged I guess the whole thing goes, quite literally, belly up.

So, it IS by a defence technology group called Boston Dynamics. They also made this thing which is pretty funny...

Wow, I'm so glad I'm not 7 anymore... that would have given me nightmares for weeks.

I’ve only watched half the video, because that’s all my computer will allow… but the IA and balance of this pup looks absolutely incredible 0_0

It's amazing and funny at the same time to watcht this thing move, walk (dance).

It is amazing to see it move, but I'd take a shotgun to that chainsaw engine after about 3 minutes.

All the good words to describe it have already been used... :indiff:

It's unbelievable (has this one been used?) how our brain processes that vid in a way that we almost 'see' that robot as two actual people.
The way it instantly reacts to keep its balance when kicked to fall on its side, and the way it slips on ice and reacts probably faster than any human would so it doesn't fall down is... unbelievable.

The 2nd vid is also pretty cool, as that thing, which in the beginning looks like nothing special, proceeds to amaze on every new test and footage shown.
I'm already thinking of a vast number of things this thing could be used for. 👍

Did anyone else notice how, in the first video, it was sped up to 1.5x? during the part where it is climbing over the concrete (look in the bottom left corner, also look in the background at the guy who walks past)

Anyway, still a cool thing.

From,
Chris.

Has anyone seen the movie "Terminator"? :scared:
They are amazing though, and the second one is funny. They're not as impressive as the new technology that allows the mind control of rats and flys to use in say hostage situations to see what's going on, or find survivors in rubble etc. (yes they can actually do that now, I think they can do similar things with humans like extract memories from a supect in a crime for instance)

No, seen it in the news the other day. IIRC they don't have the human ability yet, only mind control of rats and flys. But they hope it will lead to the human stuff.

That's amazing, but it sounds like a fly on a window.

If you guys read some books, you'd know that there is already available technology such as that one.
I'm talking about the fly-thing.
US Delta-Force (at least) has fly-like micro robots that are both HD video camera, mic, and transmitters, all with the ability to fly silently. Remote controlled from a considerably large distante and rechargable by just sitting near a heat source (such as a simple light bulb) when not in use.
Meaning they can operate almost non-stop within close quarters (once they get in there) for undetermined time.

Probably the most amazing things are secret, so that the enemy can't prepare for it :)

Why does this thing remind me of the at-at walker? :)
hmm... perhaps because i'm watching starwars at the moment :d

Or because it's basically exactly the same thing, except it doesn't have giga-terra-mega watt lasers?

An incredible piece of machinery, indeed! The chainsaw engine certainly would not do much in the heat of battle, though. Does this mean that the North Americans will be staying in the Middle East longer? Or is the primary development goal to be an effective rescue robot?

If they ever make Half-Life movie, this thing should be in it. Is that how they got the name?

Am I the only one who is a little freaked out by that thing. Its sooo weird. But wow its amazing.

One come to exist in the garage, one in my house. Would become nice daily. Coffee use for, it must give to me. No no dogpoop.

Wow, this was a recent topic on another forum I visit.

Anyway, my only comment is: Metal Gear Solid
