Biggest game-changing feature Polyphony could add to GT series?

Two things I can name for now, REAL-TIME IN-CAR GAUGES. I mean everything, even electronic screens. Second is Soft and hard Dirt/Snow tires.

how does 1 say real time gauges? i thought the gauges in the premium cars all moved, which ones are you refering too?

Gran Turismo 3 style rally handling

Really? How bout richard burns rally handling? You know, the most realistic rally sim by far ever made? The one that no other rally racing game has come even close to?

...just sayin.

Plus he talks about GT not having mechanical damage and so people drive like they do in Forza when in fact Forza does have extensive mechanical damage. So that statement makes no sense anyway.

It was more about how people drive in those games than whether or not they have damage or not. Forza's mechanical damage is far more extensive than what's in GT5 but not as harsh as GT5s heavy damage, that's my opinion on the matter. Frankly I think they both could learn from Iracing and PC sims in many ways, but especially mechanical damage

Never played that so just sayin

I might as well put a serious answer here, because this thread seems to be filled with joke answers and a growing Forza vs GT flame war.

There are a couple things I think could really turn around the series. Such as building your own cars from scratch. Like, you design it, pay a very large amount of money, and in a month or so game time you have your own car.

Unfortunately GT needs more than one game changing feature, it needs across the board improvement (and I find GT5 to be a really really good game despite it's faults). The basic foundation is there for an amazing game, it just needs focus, attention to detail, and follow through. But here goes:

-day/night transition for ALL tracks
-weather for ALL tracks
-more endurance races on real world tracks(Daytona 500, 24 Hours of Daytona, Spa) plus appropriate class cars and flags
-more real world tracks
-competitive AI
-much larger career mode
-career progression paths
-more series championship events rather than single race events
-better damage model, damage and tire wear in A-spec
-expand of track creator
-event creator with credits and experience
-ability to join racing clubs/teams with team tag in name online
-expanded online features (set race time length for endurance events, pace lap, parts allowed, etc)
-better utilization of series licenses
-match making online
-seasonal events available as currently done plus as online race, similar to GT5P
-leaderboards
-better tuning options
-new event types
-better event restrictions
-manufacturer events for all manufacturers
-only premium cars and tracks

Could go on and on, sorry for long list.:)

You nailed it! and absolutely NO standard cars.

Yes he did 👍

The game can't have only 1 game-changing feature because it needs and can improve in so much points.

Sound, tyre physics, AI, better A Spec,...
Just everything.

The biggest game-changing feature would be sound for me.

Interesting topic with many good ideas and tastes.

There are several aspects of the game I would like to see with advanced or modified features. For me, the driving/racing aspect is most critical and so with respect to this, I would like to see:

- Free-practice sessions with traffic
- 'Grand-prix weekend' layout with free-practice & qualifying for each single and/or championship race
- Grid starts with warm-up laps
- Fuel level settings/options and their effects on vehicle dynamics
- Ambient & circuit temperature variations and their effects on power & grip
- More varied and realistic weather changes with subsequent effects
- Realistic tyre wear
- Realistic and varied damage physics
- Mechanical/electrical failures
- More profound engine sound dynamics
- More realistic and intense sounds/visuals for replays
- 'High-speed camera' replay functions

... to name a few

i wanna see a solid rim selection
Enkie
Advan
Works
SSR
BBS
Volks
Gram Lights
American racing
Konig
HHR
Weld
Yokahama Designs

I want adjustable wheel offset, rim size, and rim width ... for example i want a pair of 10.5x18 with +15 offset ssr wheels for the rear of my 240sx and on the front i want 10x18 with +25 offset ..

Or they can make selected cars premium and no standard cars, also the substitute driver thing where you can have a substitute B Spec Racer which races with you in the endurance series. But there are flaws though like if the driver fails to corner correctly or even spun out even if your food there's a great chance you'll lose the race.

Rewind

[trollface.jpg]

(Though rewind is legit)

Anyway, the two biggest things that I could think of, and I'm not really sure of are, in order:

1. High fidelity physics
2. Open mode

The first one will basically make 99% of cars exciting to drive practically by itself. Differences between vehicles would be accurately modeled, and this could include response to modifications and tuning and environmental conditions. In my opinion, you would exponentially increase the longevity of the game by taking the main content (cars) and adding multiple layers of depth to them.

The second would drastically improve the game by letting you actually get into in it. Playing GT as it is now is like sitting in traffic trying to get home on Christmas. You know there's a good time to be had, but there is a lot of junk in the way that's just keeping you from the fun. If the waiting was made optional, it would allows players to more quickly explore the game and develop their own ways of playing. It would also cater to serious racers who want to set up competitive online competitions as well as tuners and testers who want to master everything.

The first is more important, but the second one is also very high in priority. Put them together and you'll basically have a whole new game.

GT6 needs A LOT more game changing features. I am thinking about selling GT5 to get NTG Inside Line just because the AI aren't competative.

This 👍

+ no standards
+ no B-Spec

Check in your premium car. Not all gauges move.

ah... ive never really noticed that before. Then again i really don't look down when im driving to notice, i kinda just do everything like shifting and speed through corners just by sound and perspective of what speed im going :)

-Adding onto this thread...increase sense of speed. doesnt look right

Biggest thing to make racing more exciting/interesting is to make sure they force players to think more about racing strategy and add more random challenging events during the races. This can be acheived for example the following points:

- Better implementation of the weather system (and real-time weather!) for all races, not just a few of them.
- Make more use of pit stops during all races (not only the longer ones)
- Better tyre system
- More intelligent a.i. that can drive agressive or tone down to save tyres/fuel for example, all depending on the situation
- Add damage and repair time in the pits
- Add failures (to a certain extent) (can be switched off)
- Add more endurance races
- Add accurate fuel tanks
- More driver mistakes and dangerous situations to cope with
- etc.

All these changes would make racing much more interesting and that would be a huge game-changer for me, because Gran Turismo always had that very sterile racing feeling to it and this would spice things up

While all these sound like they will definitely make the game more exciting, I think we need to keep in mind that most races in Gran Turismo don't last long enough for Pit Stops to be too big a factor, other than fueling time. If all Gran Turismo races are over 1 hr long, maybe. And how many people actually would play Gran Turismo everyday if all races were 60 laps/1-3 hrs long?

I don't see too many online races that are 10+ laps. or even 5+ laps. those you most likely can go without tire changes or fuel stops (barring Nurburgring Nordi23!#$@#$, idk how to spell it). And for these short races, if you have to go in and fix a broken fender or wing or some other parts, the fix time will just automatically mean you're done with the race. So why bother spending development time?

Don't get me wrong; I'd love to see such changes, but the reality of a game (even for simulations) real racing ususally lasts longer than gamers would dedicate for one race. People will just get tired of it and not play much.

well, when many of us GTPer's talk about "making more use of pit stops", one thing comes to mind:

An option to introduce mandatory pit stops into a race. This way we can still have our little 5-lap sprint races, and also have the fun, experience, and challenge of pit stops.

In something like a 20-lap race at Spa, I may want to have 2 mandatory stops. Of course, all of this would be way more fun if we actually had the option to control the car throughout pit lane. One can only hope, huh?

They should add: Motor Racing!

I've always wanted to go motor racing in a GT game, not just drive cars on tracks in fantasy events that bear no resemblance to anything in reality.

We need to be able to;

  • tune/practice & qualify for every race
  • have a proper flag system
  • have a race engineer communicating with you
  • have realistic penalties like drive throughs etc
  • have a stewards program (not knee jerk fantasy penalties)
  • have adjustable AI to suit our individual speed
  • race in teams offline (B-Spec driver as partner)
  • have championships with points tables like IRL
  • be limited to a budget for the season

Just add as many real world dynamics as possible to make the events more of a realistic motor racing experience instead of the fantasy drivel we have now. GT needs to grow up with it's audience imo, most of us like real motor sport so just add that. PD need look no further than the GT5 Online Competition forums here on GT Planet for inspiration, the events that most guys are running over there put their efforts to shame.

Had No Idea but 100% they add new cars lol

maybe they will add vynil editor (so many fans wants it, higher chance PD will add this)

or C spec and free roam mode

Thiiiiis, so much. GT nailed the driving part, all they need is to add the racing part of the game.

Vehicle customization (real world licensed aftermarket parts), vinyl editor, pallet wheel or some other type of color model.

About the aftermarket parts, i would actually be ok with them waiting to release the majority of it as DLC so they dont mess up any of the models and have time to provide a quality product.

An autosculpt would be really cool too to edit stock cars and ones with kits already on them.

And test tracks, doesnt have to be exactly like a track an actual manufacturer uses, but a a track thats basically all the good parts of real worlds test tracks.
