Biggest hard drive (pissing contest)

Just curious - why would you partition that small of volumes?

My personal files are on the big partition, programs on another, and OS on a 3rd (the last is for temporary files/log files). So it's easy to reinstall without losing my configuration.

My main drive is a 80GB (which is partitioned into 40GB for windows and 40GB for linux) and I have another drive thats 30GB.

LoudMusic, I love the amount of space used/size ratio on your Mac Server I guess it has changed a bit since then.

Yeah, it's up to about 310GB of used space now. If my backup drives would ever ship I'd be ready to put another 640GB on it.

I've got a pair of 250GB disks in my home computer, set up as RAID0 for 0.45TB formatted.

We've got 1.46TB (formatted) on a file server in London on our network, and the client has a SAN with somewhere in that region too.

Today I maxed out my HD and had to turn off system restore and delete a bunch of crap.
Once I did that I ran the generic disk cleanup thing, and it showed me this:



Anyways it gave me a chuckle

I'm gonna be getting a new comp in the next few months, and I'm probably going to upsize to a 160GB hard drive (since they're cheap), and just keep large media files (mainly Movies and TV shows) on DVD-Rs.

what do you mean cluless?! I think you shouldn't comment. I admitt As of now I havnt experimented with liquid cooling or SLI cards (because they are out of my budget) but it does NOT mean im clueless! jesus christ I hate comments like that!

I've got 2 drives. One is 40GB and the other is 80GB making a total of 120GB of storage. the 40GB is my main drive with all my apps and Windows. The 80GB is for storage. I've got around 20GB of music and probably 2GB of photos.

If you play games or install lots of stuff it will be slower than the 7,400rpm drive. (as I have a 40gb 5400rpm drive and I sometimes use the 80gb 7,200rpm drive)
If you do smaller tasks it isn't that much difference, it's only when you really demand alot out of it. For example "File Splitting".
