Biggest "I'm an idiot" thing you've done in GT5

I did a flying knee-kick at my wall because the Chaparral 2J in the American Championship spun me out on the last straight.

I rather stupidly mistook a Mazda MX-5 SR-Limited (NA, J) '97 for a Mazda MX-5 Miata SR-Limited (NA, J) '97. Silly me, they are blatantly two different cars, don't worry I slapped my own wrists.

I had to read that 4 times before I noticed they were "different".

FRICK, double post >.>

Bought the another game for the another hardware because I believed it would have been a good purchase, I was completely wrong and kept playing GT5 ever since.

Spending 2.000.000 credits on a Veyron, forgetting that I had one just sitting in the delivery truck...

Did the same sort of thing - but I bought some DLC thing... went to the Premium dealership - promptly bought all the DLC cars - including the Newey MiG-31 Firefox prototype... just to put in storage... and a few days later when I had a peek in my delivery truck I had a full set of DLC gift tickets...

The Red Bull Fireball XL5 ground effect fan car.

Now I've two of the carbon fibre things

(In the novel the Firefox MiG-31 was immune to radar and could fly at Mach 5 and was way beyond what the west had... mostly as it had thought guided avionics... The Pilot had to "Think Russian" to fire any of the weapons.

The RedBull car is the same sort of deal - you have to imagine you are through the corner, several seconds before you even reach it.

I think I mist something. What novel? And are you referring to the X2011?

EDIT: lol try clicking the "link to original post". You'll get some funny results from a thread that got over 110,000 replies in two years.

Early on in GT5, I couldn't do the Supercar challenge with any car I had, so I bought a McLaren MP4-12C, but it understeered so badly stock (I couldn't tune then) I raged and sold it again.

Waste of a precious (at least back then) 300k.

Craig Thomas - Firefox is the Novel (Clint Eastwood was in the Film) - It was written in the mid 70's. SPy thriller espionage thing - all good stuff when the world was about to nuke each itself.

I was comparing the Fictional Soviet Jet Fighter with the Fictional Red Bull X2011 Prototype.

Another thing I did so this doesn't chunk the thread up.

Had a Veyron... black and Scarlet - as a prize... and then painted it white... and suddenly realised I'd never get it to look nice with just one paint chip when I had a pretty good combo to begin with.

Took me 14 months to get online and get another Veyron

Actually laughed at this. But it's true: not a single car in GT5 is worth the money selling. I remember the good old days in GT4 when doing (B-Speccing) the DTC tournament over and over again then selling the CLK-GTRs. Ah, nostalgia.

Thinking that the Ferrari P4 330 would win the A-Spec Online Challenge Grand Valley Speedway race against the Ford GT LM/McClaren F1 GTR.

Waste of a 1967 ticket (not really) and about half an hour of my life resetting to get it.

Tuning a Chrysler 300C to the compete in the 600pp supercar shootout over in the tuning forum. I didn't finish last though :dopey:

Spending 20 million on the Ferrari 330 P4, then, while grinding seasonals to get money back, the 2J shows up in my UCD. I was over 5 million dollars short. It'll probably never come back... :(

I have two Veyrons also, both look horrible. One is an ugly pale pink/baby blue and one is an ugly Silver Chrome. Anyway, I once did the Indy 500 in an X2011. Not fun, not fun at all. Still have not even touched the Jag I won. Can't wait until I do the 24h races in my X2011. That will be buckets of fun. :yuck:

That's the story of my life on that game really! It sold for like a ridiculous 700k Cr. or something?!

The most stupid thing I've ever done is probably turn off my PS3 in absolute rage thanks to someone online after being kicked from their lobby, just to turn it back on the next day and find my save file corrupted. :ouch: I lost my 39ASpec 39BSpec Levels and had to restart from 26 and 24 respectively.. :( :( :( :(

Pushing too hard in the 10th & final lap of the Eifel Circuit Ferrari F1 challenge when I had a comfortable lead, ran wide a little, touched the white paint & boom the back end kicked out, finished 4th with a shoddy coin reward when I could of had the 2J If I came in first place.

Thankfully the 2J remained in the UCD for another two days & I was able to buy it after 7 long months of trying to find it :D

Kicked from lobby=kicked from save file. Maybe the host was Agent Smith? I once thought that my '69 Skyline could beat historic race car cup. That was a bad decision.

Race: 200 Miles Laguna Seca
Car: Ford Mustang SVT (upgraded)
Idiot: Did a 360º before the finish line , with the second car less then 3 seconds, i hit the wall, loose the race (stupid)

I do 360's if I have a lead of 15s or more. I don't take chances normally xD

Plowed around 100k into a Chevelle trying to win the muscle car championship only to have the thing still turn like the Titanic in the Panama Canal

Buy the fully customizable suspension, then change the front camber to 1.5, the front dampers to 10, front and rear ride height as low as possible, and front spring rate to about 17 or 18.

Well, here's mine... And it's fresh.
I've always wondered why PD didn't have a way to see what online rooms my friends were in, and let me join those rooms.
Yesterday while reading another thread here on GTP, I find out you actually can do this.
I've spent all this time going in and out of rooms looking for friends. :head slap:

On Madrid, in the GT World Championship.

Squeezed past the Falken GT-R on the first - then triggered the hit detection on the yellow/black barrier at the end of the pit lane, spinning me out with engine damage.

Had to redo, even a LMP car wasn't good enough.

Before the game was updated to ask "Are you sure you want to quit the race" I did quit the race by accident several times, mostly on 4H Nurburgring, had to try that 5 times before I actually finished it (from 30 mins to 2,5 hours wasted on earlier attempts)
