Having played Forza3 alot while GT5 was taking its time coming out, I got used to the red, yellow, green color of the tires to know when the tired were worn out. On this game however you basically go from blue to almost white. Common Sense tells me that blue is cold.

My question is at what point, especially when doing time trials, do you go ahead and just restart the session or pit? How do you know?

The tires turn red to indicate they're getting hot if you skid and wil have reduced grip until they go back to normal. As far as wear is concerned the indicator is a bar graph, they will lower as your tires wear out.

the color (blue, light blue, red) are the temperature of the tire.

when your tires start to actually wear, youll notice the 4 little icons actually losing color/draining like a battery icon on a cell phone.

Really? I thought it just meant the tyres are really hot, don't know about reduced grip though.

Awesome, this explains it. Thanks so much.

Yes. Heat in a tire, to a point, makes it stickier.

Too hot though, and it gets greasy.

It's quite evident in the game. Get those back tires red in a RWD car and you'll have essentially no grip. Which will keep them spinning, which will keep them hot, which will give them no grip, which will keep them spinning ... :)
