I don't race much, but I can remember a couple of times where I bested my previous lap record by exactly .001...which is kind of cool, and lame, all at the same time.

Biggest was in New York 200 miles 17 laps (with Lancia Stratos Rally Car Stock)

smallest was 0.00.05 seconds in Supercar Festival (cant remember course)
with Audi RS6 Avant :)

wow massive overkill.

Totally agree it was overkill - I didn't realise what the competitor cars wer going to be, I was expected LM cars but it was touring cars and I'd chosen the Minolta. I didn't see any point in swapping it for another car as I had no intention of going for the a-spec points so I just wanted to make sure I got the win.

If you're gonna B-spec it anyway... :indiff:

Which brings up a question.

Does anyone actively try to have close races with the B-spec driver involved? Does anone actively coach their B-spec dirver through an entire race?

if i a-spec a race and i know its going to be overkill, i deliberately hold back near to the first place car until nearer the end of the race, so im not like miles ahead of him.

Ok, but what purpose does it serve?

IMO, it's too late already, just go ahead and kill 'em. But then what you could do is note down how much time you beat him by. Why? So if you want to go back later with a less powerful car you know how much room you have to work with!

Why certainly, check out some of the Bspec threads. I randomly switch back and forth between getting "Bob's" skill up and upping the Aspec anny. The Bspec gameplay is quite different, but when done properly it is more hands on than you would imagine. You really don't want your Bspec driver to kill the competition because it yields less points and skill increases. Also contrary to belief, you don't just put it on a given speed setting with overtake on and walk away when you're training your guy. If you cycle through speed settings and only overtake when it is best to do so, you will increase things at a better pace.

B-Spec bob has 89 course skill, 85 battle skill and 79 machine skill. He has like 9000 points. As you can see i get lazy sometimes and just get him to race.
