Bike just got stolen! - UPDATE 04/01 RECOVERED :D

It happened today while I was at home!!!

It must have been around 4ish, my dad bought it home from work at 3 and locked it to a wooden shelf. The 🤬 sawed through it while we were at home and took it! I could hear Tyson barking but I just ignored it. I just went to the garage now and the bins on the floor half the shelf the bike was locked to is hanging down.
Im sooo pissed off, what makes it worse was that I was at home, it was done right under my nose. ****ing snuck onto our property like a rat.

I spent so much time and money on it too. Heres a pic if anyone around London sees it around or on gumtree or ebay etc....

Damn that sucks! Hope you'll get it back.

I know what it feels like. I had the wheels stolen off my car, which was parked about 10 meters away from the (open) window I slept directly under. They took the wheels and put the car on stones, and I didn't hear a single thing.

Too bad it got stolen, but know this: It isn't a surprise that bikes get stolen that easily. I'll tell what really makes it had to understand: Stealing carrots.

I am not joking now. When I still was living in Belgium, we got home from the animal food store one day with two bags of carrots for the horses. We got out of the car and placed them in front of the gate to take them in afterwards. Just 5 minutes later, they were freagin' stolen! Now if you think it makes no sense stealing bikes, think about the guy who steals two bags of carrots. How desperate and poor must one get to steal carrots?! :dunce:

I've had a bike stolen out of my garage which in theory is way more secure than you're situation. I understand your position, but I'm also kinda swaying toward you were asking for it. I guess the only good thing about this is thank god it wasn't too expensive of a bike.

At this time I have a bike worth $2,000+ and my friend's will go to a restaurant after and leave their bikes out in the open. They don't care at all while I worry my ass off in paranoia. My bike lock isn't all that, but at the same time you gotta make sure you are locking it to something solid too.

I guess live and learn, it's what I had to do.

edit: Although, now that I think of it... if a tOOl wants it THAT badly no amount of protection will stop them.

Is it possible to put a Lojack on your bike, or does it need power?
 
That's happened to me before with an old Mongoose mountain bike. Hope you get yours back!

Thanks for the words everyone. I do have house insurance that does cover contents in the garage but I need to find the 2+yr old recipt somewhere :/

I live in Hayes, getting to be quite bad round here now, two days ago someone got stabbed in the subway less than a mile away...during the day...right by a school!, Last month someone broke into my neighbours front door to try and get the keys to their Range Rover and in the summer my other neighbours house got broken into!

Really gutted about the bike but I do take some satifaction in knowing its going to be a bitch trying to get the lock off my bike, it was a really expensive thick one you could use for a moped or motorbike.

I think I might give up on owning a nice bike, at least while im living here, thats my 3rd one stolen....
 
My bike got stolen in the summer. It really sucks, I was always off-roading on it too.

I know how it feesl, and it feels like a 30-pound bag of dog crap came rushing down on top of ya.

That's a nice bike, Rick. Tis' a bugger about it being nabbed, don't think I've heard of someone stealing a bike like that. House insurance will cover it, though it may only cover the initial cost of the bike, doubt the add-ons would be covered. On the other hand, it is a distinguishable bike and would be quite easily recognisable.

I presume you have reported it to the police and have got a crime number?

Hope the scumbugger(s) who stole it recieve a very painful and slow death. Did you have any of those identification numbers printed on the bike?
 
Good idea to check in some of those places like pawn shops... some scumbag will probably sell it for next to nothing just so he can get another bag of heroin :rolleyes:... I hope you can claim for it on your insurance, for which you'll need a crime number as Sureshot suggests...

My friends both got their guitars stolen last weekend when someone broke into their rehearsal room - sadly, they weren't insured, and one of their guitars had sentimental value too. Suffice it to say, I'd rather have stuff worth nicking than to be a pathetic low-life who needs to steal stuff from others. I hope you find your bike, but more likely I hope you get a replacement 👍
 
My sister's mountain bike was stolen a few months back, but luckily it was found at a nearby park with no serious damage (some things were tweaked out of position, but that was it). The odd thing is, it's always the furthest back in the garage, behind two BMX bikes. Is mine not good enough or something?!

A house up the road from me got broken into in the middle of the day, the thieves took their TV off the wall, took the keys to the owner's new Mini, loaded the TV into the car and drove off. All they did was kick the door in, right in the middle of the day.

Cheeky b*****ds. We also caught some kids trying to break into next door's house with a screwdriver, they had mates down the road pretending their car had broken down while 2 of them took to the window. My dad opened our window, stuck his air rifle out at them and shouted "I SUGGEST YOU **** OFF". They never came back :lol:
 
Lol, wow, I think my dad would welcome a situation like that. Not only have my parents recently taken up target practice, so they have a safe full of REAL guns, but my dad just bought an AR-15 semi-automatic rifle (totally peeved Obama won office, he's buyin' 'em while he can). He loves calling it his "evil black rifle"... I think he'd love brandishing that in some crook's face.

I had a bike stolen right out of my back yard a long time ago. You know what's funny about it though? I put the bolts on loose because I wasn't done fixing it. I'm sure that guy was pretty p*ssed.

Tough luck, dude. I've learned never to leave my bike outside, not even when tied to serious places. When friends of mine stayed over at my place for a party once, one of them woke up to find that his bike was no longer tied to the lamp-post - but that the lamp-post was missing, too. They actually sawed it off!

My mother rides road-bikes regularly, and bothers to haul hers up every time. She lives in the 4th floor, but the tradeoff is leaving an 8000$ carbon frame out there..
