UPDATE
Well bit of an up and down these past two weeks.
Firtly near Christmas time I was chasing up my insurance company about the money for the bike when they dropped the news that the bike was actually not covered even though initially they seemed helpful and made me send my receipt to them, police report etc...
On Friday I went out and bought a Specialized Rockhopper, really nice bike but cost a small fortune. Wasn't too much damage to me though as my dad went in halves as he was feeling a bit guilty for not locking the garage (really shouldnt have to lock a garage during the day anyway to stop thieving 🤬 but still, i wasnt complaining

)
Heres a pic:
Today(Sunday Morning) I get woken up by a phonecall from my mate at my local halfords saying they have my bike and arrested the guy who bought it in, bring your receipts and stuff to prove its yours and give a police statement.
I got ready and went to halfords and in the warehouse what appeared to be my bike! It was really in a bad condition both tyres were flat, wheel was wrong way round(caliper opposite to disk!) had mud everywhere and I couldn't believe how many scratches the bastards put on the bike in 3 weeks it was in a sorry state but it was my bike. Gave it a proper clean and quick service and it almost looks how it did before it was taken.
The guy who bought it in came to get the tyres pumped when one of my mates who worked in the bike section recognized the bike, he told the guy the bike was reported stolen and the guy started getting really nervous but waited for the police to arrive. He said first he found it in a river and then it was a christmas present and then changed it again to just buying it off someone off the street. His story had holes but I know it wasnt him who took it but he knows who did and was trying to protect them...
Thats it so far. Now I have two decent bikes, no where safe to put them apart from in my house which is tight for space already and am out of pocket a couple of hundred. Hmmm if I just waited two days before buying a bike everything would have turned out so conveniently....
Feels great getting my bike back, will feel even better if they get the thieving rat that took it, or procesute the guy that bought my stolen bike in the first place
