Is that a thing??? I’ve never received one! Do you need to log on that day? How does it know your birthday?

It uses the date of birth associated with your PSN account.

My understanding is, if you miss your "birthday" (whatever date you entered in your PSN account) it'll just give you the birthday reward the next time you log in.

This has been a thing for a few Gran Turismo's now I believe (at least back to GT5 I can remember receiving birthday car rewards.)

I guess I never noticed it,mor have never gotten one. Who know which birthday date I have in that account.
 
I’m salty about this, I got a Lexus LC500, which I already had two off, and then my brother got a frickin LaFerrari
 
Ironically(?) enough I was gifted the Epson NSX as my first birthday car. The NSX is my car of choice, and my favorite car in the series is the Takata NSX from GT2.
