Addiction is a feeling. Its not something that can be explained. If you read any of this thread and this game interrests you then buy it. If not then dont.
 
Hehe lol, I meant it in a sarcasm way;) Only thing I got to know about this game from reading this thread, is that it has monkeys and it's addictive:lol:

Pako not sure if you saw my last few replies but i was wondering how far you are now? I am on the 3rd island. I had soo much fun on island 2 and posted about it a few replies back. :) I still need to get some screenshots of island 2. I owned the entire island!

I can easily say this is one of the most addictive games I have played in my life!! I am currently on island 3. I beat island 2 and actually got to fight for the first time creature to creature. What a battle it was. My monkey and the wolf were just going to town on each other and there was blood flying off of them. I got some screenshots but they are at home. I was so impressive that even the main enemies workers left him to join me. I had over 6 and a half hours of real game time on that 2nd island.
I see myself playing this game for a very very long time any chance I get. I also have enough knowledge where I could play the expansion pack now.

Cool, I think I'll have to start training my pet for battle. I'm still on the same island. I didn't even boot up the game this weekend....just had too much going on and not enough free time for B&W2. Soon, hopefully soon. :)
 
I played for a few more hours this weekend and got quite a few screenshots. I thought I was only on island 3 but I guess I was on island 4. Now I am on island 5 which look like it is going to be a very very long difficult battle!!! This current island is HUGE!!! It is also loaded with angry soldiers. I still love this game and look forward to playing it every chance I get. I will try to post he pics some time soon from the last couple islands. I need to figure out a way to get more ore. Im having a very hard time with ore. Any hints?
My architectural layout of the houses was awesome on the last island. :)
 
I bought this over the weekend and stuck about 6 hours into it. I'm up to the second Japanese fella with the pyramid-esque main city. I'm loving this game a lot! Much better than the first B&W game.

The graphics are epic. Water looks lovely, trees and other veg look great and zoomed right in you can see ants scurrying around on the floor. Runs very weel on my PC, although to get a smooth framerate i've opted to turn AA off. Still the game looks gorgeous even with AA off which doesn't happen very often (Ghost Recon..).

The city design element is great fun. On the last island i had two massive cities with nicely laid out industrial areas and housing districts. My main city had a Hollywood-style housing area on the slope of a mountain with lots of nice buildings spread about :D

I chose the cow as my creature and he's grown to be a very good collector of resources and waterer of fields and forest. He's about 30% good, but still kicks arse in battles with his lightning miracle and uses trees as baseball bats :p

Biggest downside of the game is that you can't just start playing it with 30 mins of spare time. You need a couple of hours to complete a level.

Also i seem to have been 90+% evil so everything (ground and trees) looks nasty and evil. As my cow (Geoph) walks around my cities he leaves a trail of green grass, and as he waters and interacts with trees he turns them bright green. So it made sense to make him my head gardener :)

Being evil just seemed so natural, warring is the funnest way to play. Taking a 100 strong archer platoon and a 100 strong platoon of swordsmen into battle looks awesome. My creature seems to struggle with the differences between my men and the enemy though!

I am glad to hear another member from the board is enjoying this game. :) I got several people off this site to buy it and they love it!
You must be flying thru the game!!! Only 6 hours of game play and your already to the Pyrimid island!!! I guess I just enjoy the game soo much I spend way too much time on it. Also when your evil you can go thru the game a lot faster. It usually takes me about 6-8 hours for each island because I am good. I just love to build and create too. I also dont usually attack unless I have to. I let everyone join my city. That takes a long time but I dont mind at all.
I didnt get a chance to play this over the weekend. I spent my gaming hours playing Age of Empires 3 with Heather. Glad to hear your enjoying the game. 👍
You should get some screen shots. I dont know what evil looks like. ALT-S to take screenshots.
Dang I just realized I still forgot to post all my screenshots from my last island. I had hundreds of houses. Looked so awesome!
 
I didn't realise i was going through it quickly, but i have just noticed that there's only 3 islands left after this one which sucks a bit. I'm going to play through the game again after i finish and focus more on impressiveness than war :)

Oooh, this is a good point. I've got some pretty cheap 5.1 speakers, but this game amazed me with it's audio. Usually i have to set the speakers to work in 2.1 mode as most games i have don't support 5.1. This however does, and it adds a nice extra layer to the game. You get ambient audio through the rear speakers and other nice effects which is pretty cool 👍 The continuous heartbeat effect has got a bit irritating as it shakes through the sub, but i've just noticed that the 1.2 patch removes the heartbeat among other changes.

All this thinking about it makes me wish i wasn't at work right now!
 
Make sure you get some screen shots. ALT-S. I havent seen what the game looks like as evil but after I beat it as good I will be going back thru this game as evil. I also have the expansion to play (its a separate game). If you havent picked that up yet its all about battle and evil so you will love it too and its only $19.99. B&W2 Battle of the gods.
I cant wait until I can hear the game thru 5.1. Hopefully within the next few months I will pick one up.

You went a bit crazy with the villas me thinks! What was the most amount of people you could turn into a platoon at one time? I had about 190, but i'm assuming with all those villas you must have had a huge population :)

Thought i'd take some shots whilst playing, but just noticed i've only got four, and they're all quite boring! Sorry :lol:

Yeah I like making houses and all the people kept complaining they were tired so I kept making houses. :lol:
Now to answer your platoon question. At one point on one of the islands I could make a platoon up to 25,000 people!!! I couldnt believe it!! I only made a couple hundred just to save on food. Those soldiers sure do eat a lot!
The island I am currently on is very difficult. I couldnt find ore forever and now I just got hit by the enemies hurricane. Very hard. I killed one Tiger and now im going after the 2nd one. I still dont have a huge wonder. I cant ever get enough money to get one. I think they are around 200,000-400,000. I just never have enough money for them. I am on the island with the pyramid shaped enemy fortress. My army is just soo weak too so I have been trying to use my monkey to take over the other cities.
Thats funny about your foresters taking off and coming back the next day.

I completed the game on Saturday and didn't actually get a wonder until the last level and even then only used it once (Siren) on about 50 troops. Save up for the earthquake (800,000 i think) or volcano (1,000,000 ditto), they're both awesome :) The penultimate level gives you loads of tribute, i didn't have to do any battling at all (lowered my evilness from 90% to 40% in one level! w00t!).

Will definitely start the game again with another creature and try and be good, the evil hand and textures was/were quite depressing after a while. I want trees and stuff to be green not brown :(

When your creature walks around what color does the grass become since your evil? Everywhere my monkey walks beautiful flowers grow. Its awesome. I am going to be evil on the Black and white 2 expansion my first time around. Then I will go back thru it as good. I am using my turtle for that.
Also if you beat down walls instead of the doors it doesnt make you evil. When you beat the doors evil pours out!

I turned evil before my creature did, so he left a wake of green grass over the dark, cracked land. But eventually i turned him nasty so he had no effect on the land.

Would love to get the turtle. Apparently when he goes evil, he gets spikes that grow out of his shell :D
 
Does your creature ever go crazy and start scratching his butt really hard? My monkey starts screaming the reaches back and starts clawing at his rear. Its hilarious!! :lol:
Usually after he does that I use the water miracle to wash him off. This game cracks me up!
 
:lol: Yeah my cow dows that too, i didn't think he wanted a wash, the dirty like monkey (cow).

He does love using his udders as much as possible. For instance when in battle he likes to use them as a weapon, kind of humping the enemy to death... and he enjoys entertaining the villages by using them as a makeshift set of bongos :p

:D Yeah this game does really does a good job of keeping you amused, which is a good thing considering it takes so long to work through it. Will try and get some better shots next time i play 👍

Oh and i forgot to comment: 25,000 people!!! Crikey, that'd look awesome all as archers :)

I have a very short attention span so like you said this game does a great job keeping me entertained. There is just sooo much to do. Its like playing several games all at the same time.
I will try to load that other island and try to pop out 25,000 soldiers. Or at least get a screenshot of it saying that. I probably wont get a chance to play again until this weekend. If I play sooner I will post some screenshots off all those guys. I think it was the 4th or 5th island. I owned 6 or 7 other cities all on one island. I had soooo many people I couldnt keep up any more!

Haven't played in a couple of weeks....I'll have to do some catching up there... I think I'm only on the third island.

Now for the part everyone wanted. I have to make a correction to my other posts. I said I had 25,000 army. That was incorrect it was 25,000 ORE. However I still could have built a very impressive army on that island. I just loaded that same island and I can have up to 525 platoon!!!!! I took a few screenshots as the guys were coming out of the tent. That is a LOT of guys!!!:dopey: THere were so many guys they started falling into the ocean and dying.:dunce:
I just hopped on the game tonight to get some pics as promised. I probably wont have a chance to play the game again until this weekend.

Have you seen that you can link two or more platoons together? By taking one platoon's flag and holding it over another with the left-mouse button you can link them. This is really good for easy platoon control 👍 I like having a big swordsman platoon being backed up by a couple of smaller archer platoons; works a charm :p

I did not know you could link armies. That is very helpful information. Its no fun having 8 different armies and try to control all of them. I wasnt sure how to make archers. I think I just have the regular soldiers. Thanks for the helpful information. If I play again this weekend I will keep that in mind. 👍
 
I played this for a few minutes last night just to check out my new surround sound. It sounded pretty good. As someone mentioned somewhere in this thread, there is an annoying low hum through the sub the entire time so I just turned the sub down for this game.
I might have to redo this current island. I somehow turned evil on this island. :guilty:
 
I was pretty irritated by the continuous heartbeat as that kind of shook my desk, but got used to it after a while.

Haven't played this game in ages, being spending too much time on Hitman. Might start the game again from scratch and relive the fun times :)
 
This game was mentioned on another site and it reminded me of this thread.
I have been so consumed since I bought my xbox 360 over 8 months ago that I have completely neglegted this game. (and all my PC games)
I still say this is one of the best games I ever played on the PC. I even have the expansion pack and only played it 1 or 2 days. I forgot how great this game looks.
Unfortunaly toward the end of this game I did something wrong and became evil. I think it was because I had my monkey fighting everything.
