Have this problem quit a bit. I go to paint a car black and want it very dark and super shiny, but when I paint it and take the car to the track it looks not as dark as I hoped.

What black color have you found is the darkest most beautiful black out there?

I think it comes down to the reflections GT5 has, the shine takes away from the black especially in bright tracks and makes it almost look gray. Doesn't matter how dark the black is it does this.

Try Tuxedo black or one of the regular BMW colors. I think it's Black Saphire metallic. Though I suggest that you go for a mica type of color instead of a metallic one. The Toyota Tacoma's black is super dark, as well as the one that the Lexus ISF has, but I can't remember the name.

But at the end, it's like Jay says. You'll probably see them like grey in bright tracks.

I was actually just wondering this myself...
go to paint your car
search texture: solid, and sort by hue.
Scroll down, and you'll start seeing grays. They will progressively darken into the blacks as you keep scrolling. Then you will come to the end of the blacks and another color will start. The last black technically has the darkest hue. Look through the last few blacks, as they are the darkest but differ a bit in their texture. Some are "shinier" than others.

I have been doing my own test with whites and balks for months now and yes on bright tracks some blacks look more gray. That is exactly the problem. I race at Tsukuba a lot for drift and the color of black matters a lot. I found Nero pretty much any version looks really good always. The problem is there is obviously more that look good meaning I can use them as well instead of having to buy lambo gallardos just to use their black. All the blacks that I own that have like 10 chips each for are always the garbage ones which I use for rims since you can't tell.

My personal "deep" black is Crystal Galaxit Black from the Mercedes SLS. Superdeep black, with an impressively glossy finish. Otherwise I use Saphirschwarz from Opel, which has a neon blue undercoat which only shows up when the light hits it just right.

This is the Saphirschwarz

That color looks cool. I like to have my cars match so if it's black with a blueish hue I would need to paint the rims blue so it matches. In the case I face right now I want to paint a 350z totally dark shiny black with black rims. Maybe a matte black not really sure yet, but it's definitely going to be murdered out.

I'm sorry, may I ask which NSX is that on the pic? Awesome color, btw. It looks like BMW's version of the Black Sapphire, though BMW's has a grey hue when lit.

It's the RM'd Acura NSX.
The effect of the blue works best on cars with angular panels, rather than smooth, curvacious ones.

If you did use the Saphirschwarz you'd be best just using a plain black for the wheels, like I say the effect only occurs under exactly the right conditions, so for the most part the car would appear black.

Ok thanks for the suggestions people I will check them out and choose one now. As for the guy above who said the Nissan black. I'm doing a 350z and go to buy it and it's one of the only ones that do not have that black available lol. So disappointed.

Ok I went with crystal galaxit black and it is super dark. Like Wesley Snipes dark. So dark light hits it and is absorbed. Perfect lol. Thanks everyone.

If you want Black, I would suggest Nissan's Super Black. It's available from the Nissan Dealership. :)

I agree with Kenny!

I used the Super Black paint chip to make my GT-R Black Edition the correct colour..... The black is just so deep, and shiny too, it's very very impressive!! Easily the best I have found so far! Just have a flick through the various cars until you find it, I promise you will not be let down!!

Another one to mention would be the Moonraker Black Metallic from TVR. It's one of my favorite blacks in the game...

Best of the season to ya!
