@BruceD do you have a template for your awesome CART 1993 mod ? Trying to make John Paul Jr's T91/00 from scratch but it's kinda hard without a clean file to start from.

ISO didn't make any, but I'm currently making templates for someone else to do the 1991 season skins. It's probably not the best because I'm doing them in a hurry, but should be ok. The wings file is seperate to the body file. Includes wireframes and AO layers for road and oval versions.

PS, been meaning to ask you if you would be interested in doing a 1992 season set, or helping with the 1991 set? I'm too snowed with other mod stuff to look at those but I think people would want them and I've got 1 person working on the 1991 cars soon.

I'd love to but come September I won't have much time to do stuff for AC, maybe I can manage some skins but not a full season sadly

Is there a listing somewhere that describes available variables for suits and helmets? How do I know that the suit is available in type 2? Is there a type 3 (or 63)? How do I discover what other gloves than <sparco_roadcars_rg3.1/red> are available? Does it vary for each driver? Help!

Ok, I just found a tutorial thing by Ben O'bro describing it... https://www.overtake.gg/threads/change-driver-suits-helmets-and-gloves.232527/
and of course in retrospect it's all logical... It's taking me a while to wrap my brain around drivers, suits, helmets etc. The VRC Alfa skins I made didn't have the correct suits when I used them on the non-csp Alfa. Turns out it was because the driver model was set different on the non-csp version...

Hello!

IMPORTANT: you can use them for what ever you want, skins or mods. Up to you, only thing, just be so respectful and give me the credit as the author. thanks!

As we often need better wheels over at TomSim and as i really enjoy modeling rims, i decided to upload a set of 27 Rims, they are ready to CSP swap. AO's for each wheel included

Almost all of them are build with centerlock, just a few have 5 Lugs, some models are older some are just done a few days back, so quality can vary a bit

included:

  • AMG Aero III
  • BBS E07
  • BBS E55
  • BBS E87
  • BBS Le Mans
  • BBS RE Forged
  • Enkei GTC02
  • Enkei RPF1
  • OZ Futura
  • Volk CE28
  • Volk TE37
  • Volk ZE40
  • Work Meister S1
  • Steelrim
  • SET-1.webp
    SET-2.webp
    SET-3.webp
    SET-4.webp
    SET-5.webp
    SET-6.webp
    set-7.webp

Enjoy!

I was wondering why I couldn't fit AMS, AMS2, RF, RF2, EVO, LMU, ACC, RBR full, iRacing and all other sims to my hard drive. Then I realized that my AC installation folder alone takes friggin' 500 Gigs. I'm old enough to remember when big games took 10 floppies and 30 Megs. :D

I bought a new 4 TB drive and now we're talking again.

How big AC folders you guys have? I'm sure mine is on the smaller side because I've only kept the essentials. :D
Mine is 250 GB - mostly compressed. 712 cars + 68 tracks. I'm quite picky, and I immediately delete skins that I don't really like righ after installing. Oh, and when I’m bored, I shrink down some ridiculously large skins and textures.

Is there a way to change a driver model with an ext_config? Skin.ini doesn't seem to do that. The VRC Alfa has the model set to driver_80 in driver3d.ini, I want it set to driver_1998. I know I could just distribute a replacement data.acd, but that seems rude in changing the settings for all other skins...

Years ago I found these instructions about driver model.

Install the Driver_60.kn5 model in your Assetto Corsa\Content\Driver folder.

Open Notepad and enter the following:

[DRIVER3D_MODEL]
NAME=driver_60
POSITION=0.0,0.0,0.0

Where driver_60 is the name of the model you want to use as listed in Content Manager.
Then save the file as ext_config.ini into the folder of the skin you want it to effect.

If you want it to effect all drivers of a car, regardless of which skin they have, you can save it with the car name into \Documents\Assetto Corsa\cfg\extension\cars.

Please be aware that the new driver will not show up in the CM Showroom, but he will be there when you race.

If you want to replace the driver for all skins of the car, and you want the driver to show up in the showroom as well:

In the car folder, open the Data folder.
If the car does not have a data folder, you will have to unpack those files by putting Content Manager into developer mode.
Paste the driver3d.ini file here, and click yes to overwrite/replace the file that is already there.

EDIT: I know this is off-topic, but it's important. The latest Windows update has a serious problem with potential SSD corruption. I recommend uninstalling it. More info can be found here -->

!!! IMPORTANT FOR ALL THE WIN11 USERS !!!

Maybe you already aware of it, but BE CAREFUL with OS Updates. With latest Win11 update with specific drives you can have crashes, slowdowns, and even drives disappearing from the system

Check this out and stay WINDOWS-SAFE

Ah good old Microsoft using us as their beta-testers while they find a new way to screw up their own product.

Creat a ext_config.ini inside the car skin folder and add this:

[DRIVER3D_MODEL]
NAME= (driver model you want)
POSITION=0.0,0.0,0.0

[DRIVER3D_HIDE_OBJECT_0]
NAME=DRIVER:HELMET

[DRIVER3D_HIDE_OBJECT_1]
NAME=DRIVER:GEO_Driver_FACE

then add the driver skin to the car skin folder

Most played racing games at Steam now:

Sim racing picks

6. Assetto Corsa
8. F1 25
10. LeMans Ultimate (not surprised, this is a great game GET IT!!!)
15. Assetto Corsa Competizione
37. DiRT Rally 2
41. iRacing
45. Forza Motorsport
52. EA Sports WRC
58. rFactor 2
69. Assetto Corsa EVO
90. F1 2020 (best game of the series!!!! but no longer available on Steam for purchase)

I doubt anything will replace Assetto Corsa anytime soon. We just have superior niche content that nothing can ever match.

LeMans Ultimate (imho) drives better than iRacing and ACC (esp. the GT cars). I was really impressed. It uses RF2 force feedback and the driving feel is very sharp. They should just create more stuff for offline racing. But it's a great game. DiRT Rally 2 still going strong and not surprised... I always enjoy playing it (although I suck). Amazingly enjoyable. Whenever I finish my RBR sessions I'm always in a bad mood but DR2 is always a lot of fun. :D

Speaking of, does anyone know if AC works on Linux? Any specific distros?

Speaking of, does anyone know if AC works on Linux? Any specific distros?
I used to run it on my distro I currently use (Nobara, based on Fedora) via Proton through Steam, even tho it was finnicky to set it all up via a tutorial and claims on ProtonDB, I managed to make it work and it ran fine, although CM is really buggy and is prone to crash a lot, not to mention the lack of perephials which have no driver on Linux so far (save for Moza and Thrustmaster).

So here's what I learned. Turns out it works with just skin.ini... for some reason I didn't need to hide the helmet etc for 1st-person view for some reason... ( can I do that hiding in skin.ini if I need to?)

The Alfa skins have been updated. They can be used for both csp and non-csp versions (I'd normally say so what, but there are issues)

I reworked the skins for the 2025 Aston Martin Valkyrie LMDh by iHTuning. Now, the IMSA skin has the correct logos and the WEC skins show correctly the car number. I also changed the ui_skin.json for each skin. The skins will also work with the FSR version of the car as it's the same car model.

I too am using Compactor to compress all tracks and cars...
download & details about Compactor , see here
Thank you for sharing your experience! I have a question I don’t understand: After using CompactGUI or CM compress tool, can the game still normally access these compressed files? If I need to modify or update a single car file, do I have to decompress all files first?After compression, is it the same as ZIP or RAR, forming a single complete archive file?
