Yup I have finally been able to pass the medical part and I will be joining the United States Marine Corps. After taking the ASVAP test I was told I could basically any job I wanted. So I signed up in the electrical engineering catagory.

I'm going to recruit training after I finish this semester in school, so that means next summer I'm going to be heading off.

And I know I'll be asked why I joined since I have been from many people. Well number one I've always wanted to join the armed forces but I could not pass the medical for some reason, but we won't get in to that. Another reason being that I want to serve my country. Finally I'm having a rough time paying for college so the Montgomery GI Bill in something that will help me as well.

So any other Marines on the board? I'd be curious to how you went through everything.

Awesome man.👍, nice to see you joining the forces and protecting the country. Even though I'm not america......

Best of luck to you Blazin! I myself am preparing for a career in the Canadian military, possibly as a Pilot or an Engineer. I'm probably going to be visiting a recruiting center soon to inquire about attending Royal Military College in Kingston, Ontario, and about going to University under the Regular Officer Training Plan (This would mean the military would pay for my education, and I would have guaranteed employment upon completion of University). So I could be in the same boat as you come next summer!

Good luck. My friend is throwing a going away party this weekend because he has been called to stay there for over a year. He has to train for over 3-4 months first. He is a little nervous but we wish you both the best of luck.!! 👍

Well, that is awesome man. It's not going to be easy at all trust me. I am in an Army program at my school also known as ROTC. It's my 2nd year in the program and I have to say, it's pretty cool although I don't plan to stay in it next year nor am I planning to join the Army or Marines.

There was a senior that came to talk to us, he just recently joined the Marines, and he said it was hell. Especially the trainning part, at our school he was in very good shape, out of almost 150 + cadets (students) he was in the top ten as far as physical trainning is concern. He said when he got to the Marines, they just destory him physcial and mental. Be papare to do some really hard work.

Marine is not going to be a stroll in the park, just to warn you. ;)

Good luck.

Thank you. It is good people like you who keep America free. 👍 👍

Best of luck to you!

ACtually, one of the original moderators Jon has been on deployment in Iraq for some time now. He's occasionally stopped in when he's home. Shadow Drifter is on tour as we speak.

So yes, there are a few Marines here.

Good luck, and thank you.

Thank you .

As others have said, good luck and thank you! Excellent work in getting in. My words of advice: get in great shape before you report. Basic is going to be gruelling enough, but trying to drop 10 pounds and get your wind up at the same time is even worse.

Good luck and keep safe.

Congratulations, Blazin! You don't just say you love your country...you have the balls to back it up! To a true patriot: thank you. :) 👍

Thanks guys for everything you got to say. I will be getting in shape until I go, at the recruitment off they offer work out sessions 3 days a week so I go there when I can.

But I can't wait to start serving my country.

Say hi to Jon if you see him! 👍

That's a great thing your doing, Blazin. 👍 Wish you the best of luck.

Let me offer my appreciation and regards as well. I have nothing but respect for those who put themselves in harm's way in order to protect this country. 👍 I also hope you will never have the need to deploy, but sleep better knowing you will be ready to.
