Blinking chase

The only time I flash my lights is when I'm passing somebody in FIA qualifying (who's going slow) or I feel somebody just unfairly blocked me (weaving), both of that happens very rarely.

However, when I used to drive with a DS4, I was constantly accidentally flashing my lights through corners.

Same here, I use it like a horn honk when people weave block or barge pass me. It takes some of the frustrating out without having to actually get revenge. I mean it's right under your left thumb on DS4, at this point it's like a reaction.

That is like the most petty thing I've read in awhile - but at the same time kind've hilarious.
Tuesday's race on Brands Hatch GP for me, all of the distance signs ended up being wiped out over the course of the race - made the last 5 laps interesting to say the least.

Also, Monza is a ****fest, even at the highest level.

It was so frustrating, I dont understand why these guys try to race you in qualifying after they spun 2 corners earlier. I gotta learn braking points without the cones, I dont understand how people run them over on the straights but if you hit an errant cone it can throw you off track, they can really upset the car!!!!:eek::eek::eek:

If you are not getting lapped dont worry. Let them try to earn the overtake rather than having it spoon fed.

Why though????? A lapped car isn't in the same race as the lapper so why give a fight? I hate that kind of mindset; if you're being lapped, give me my room because you're not racing the same race as me. There's no point in resisting. Thank god for ghosting lapped cars, saves me the hassle of people who think they have an actual chance of fighting the lapper, even if it's utterly pointless

I mean cars that are getting lapped must give way of course. Blue flags in my opinion are needed.

When I get overtaken I do try to defend but a lot of the times I yield. Let them pass no point when the person is faster. Some times there are motorsport battles sometimes it does not happen after all we are not Gilles or Senna.

My post is about people blinking the lights telling people to move.

I might be a massive tool myself, but I use my lights to indicate to a car in front of me that I'm about to attempt a pass.

I do exactly that, to give them a fair warning so we don't end up crashing, although I also use them to show disappointment if I'm heavily blocked in a straight or a similar situation.

Sidenote, I use DS4 and I can say I haven't really ever flashed my lights by accident, so you guys must really be pushing on the controller hard for that to happen.

In real races with multiple classes of cars, flashing lights is standard practice to warn the slower cars that a faster car is approaching. Since they aren't really racing each other, it benefits both drivers.

Since GT Sport doesn't have races with mixed categories, this doesn't apply. Maybe flashing a lapped car would be similar, but without an etiquette guide, I wouldn't expect the lapped car to know what to do. Lapped cars get ghosted (usually anyway) so shouldn't be a problem.

In GT Sport, there aren't any rules against flashing lights to distract, but I think it's just bad manners. It's like honking your horn in traffic, just shows everyone around what a jerk you are. I've said it before and will say it again:

Don't be a Flasher!

I'm the beginner in GTS (DR D/ SR S) and thus I'm aware my lap times are average and racing line not perfect. But I'm doing my best trying to prepare to all online races (daily one) hotlapping like crazy until I'm at least consistent.

However in nearly all races there are at least one or two players chasing me and blinking lights, like they'd like to tell me "get out of my way, I'm faster, you have to let me pass". Unfortunately it's often ends with some bumping or squeezing out of the corner.

As I wrote my racing line is not perfect but it's fair, and what's more important I've never tried to intentionally block any faster players’ attempt to overtake.

Do they really think I'm obliged to give them safe way? Or it's it me misunderstanding any rules of road?

(Of course I don't mention multiclass races that GTS lacks).

Many players use the controller.

The high beam is on L3, which means when you are pushing hard to turn, it's possible to flash the highbeams.

This same phenomenon happened in GT5 and GT6 when players had the horn on L3. You'd be honked at constantly.

The trouble with using your lights to convey any kind of message/intention, is the other person will most likely interpret it differently from how it was intended. I always simply ignore anyone flashing behind me.
