A friend got stopped two months ago riding an R1. He got knee down at 85mph on a B-Road in the UK.

The punishment:

£1500 fine (pounds not dollars)

His £10000 bike got crushed.

3 years driving ban

The judge was going to send him to jail but the jury said if he did that they would find him not guilty!

Motorista and riders are a bottomless resource to be pumped for money to put into our damn decrepit railways and nothing is spent on our roads.

I am so angry with this government. Wait till election time!
If a few fox hunting supporters can change the Governments view then surely tens of thousands of motorists and bikers have some clout.

WE NEED A REVOLUTION!

Unfortunately, all governments are the same, so whoever you vote for you'll be screwed over. The Torys will take from the poor and give to the rich, Labour screw things up; the Lib Dems I haven't seen in power so I don't know, but they can't bowl. One thing is for certin: there will always be more speed cameras.

Where was it? and what time? Actually, it doesn't matter. It's still wrong.

Yeah, so he's knee-down at 85mph on a B road. Let's be straight here, that's cornering flat-out at 25mph over the speed limit? On a corner? And you think that the punishment is unwarranted?

Those sorts of antics are best confined to track days.

Track days certainly, I agree with you there
Having a guys bike crushed though sounds a bit extreme IMO, but on the flipside to that, how often was ya mate caught doing the wrong thing?

I saw speed cameras (revenue raisers) mentioned earlier
At least your cameras are marked (from what Im lead to believe) they aint here
In some instances they are mounted on the back of a road sign (in the same direction that you are travelling) so you have absolutely no chance of seeing them at all
The powers that be "claim" they are reducing the road toll with these things, yet the has been barely a drop in fatalities while revenue is up a **** load

Mounted in known high accident areas I can understand, as it makes perfect sense, but NOT on a downhill piece of bitumen to nail those who who never speed

The police here have enforced a 3% tolerance on the cameras, yet the STANDARD for speedometers here in AUS is +/- 10%, so if your speedo is wrong ya gonna get screwed any way
