BMW M power in GT4?

The exclusion of proper BMWs in the gt series has always baffled me, as they are some of the finest driver's cars on the planet. I mean, even need for speed has them included, with damage modelling no less. Ditto for PGR2. SO why not in Gran turismo, where they truly belong (I can think of no better Grand Touring cars than the M3 and M5, as well as the M1). Am I the only one lusting for Bimmers (and lots of them, maybe even some tuned versions such as DINAN...drool) in the next Gran turismo?

I think everyone thinks the BMW M cars should be in, it's all down to licencing I guess, I'm not sure but it could have somthing to do with EA.

it would be great to see Current M5 & M3 in the game and evne the M1, I Guess, it they could somehow get them in the game.

But the M3 is included in Project Gotham Racing 2, which has damage modelling also. So the EA idea doesnt fit. You'd think BMW would be pushing to have their cars in the GT series; it's like a badge of honor.

Why would it be like a badge of honor? It would an honor if it was exclusive, but its not. There is no honor in racing next to a pink vitz.

I'd be honored to race next to a pink Vitz. Or a Daihatsu midget for that matter. Though I'm not sure those came in Pink.

A more pertinent question is, if BMW M Power cars aren't included in GT3 for licencing reasons, then why are there signs all around the tracks - Grand Valley notably - saying "M Power" on them?

EA have an exclusive Ferrari licence, Ferrari is in PGR1 and 2, if a games maker is prepared to pay EA enough they'll let theem use the licence., if EA have an exclusve licebnce for BMW's M badged cars they probably won't be in GT4.

Isn't it BMW power rather than M Power?, I may be wrong of course, the licensing might be different between the two

That must mean a hell of a lot of game devellopers are paying off EA. Outrun 2 has ONLY Ferraris in it, Ferrari F355 challenge had, you guessed it, the F355. And besides, even if they DID have an exclusivity arrangement (which I doubt), what use would licenses to all these exotic cars be if their new game is centered around rice-crap economy boxes geared toward the "import" (read: people who suddenly think they're into cars since they watched those thrilling "10 second" races in a movie I've promised myself I'd never mention by name for fear of violent illness) scene?

EA hold the exclusive rights to Ferrari, Porsche and Lamborghini (unless that one has ran out now), and yes alot of makers pay EA for these cars, Sony isn't prepared to pay EA the amount of money thay are asking to share thoes licences.

I seriously hope they do put an M3 / M5 in it.. would love to take them out for a 'spin'

- the M3 in PGR2 is crap.. why? because it sounds NOTHING like an M3.

there was a guy on here awhile ago that had PD come and take pictures and sounds of his dads RUF and M5. he did post pics of it

Actually, it was his OWN Ruf Turbo R. He also owned a BMW M5, but they didn't record that - possibly because they'd already done an M5 (they ARE ten a penny).

The Ruf Turbo R is "based on" (meaning looks the same, superficially as) the Porsche 996 911 Turbo. Should be fun then.

oh i thought he said they did record the M5?.....oh well

They test every car thay want in the game, jsut incase. That doesn't mean the car will be in it though. It wouldn't suprise me if they had modelled a load of Ferraris for GT4incase a deal can be made and I know PD have been talking to Ferrari and that Ferrari want to be in a GT game it's finding a loophole in EA's contract or paying them off for it though.

If someone burned down the EA buildings, maybe that would solve the problem :D

But seriously, PD should include Ferraris in the game, think of how many Tifosi would buy the game just for the Enzo alone!

*Edit* come to think of it, I've never heard of EA owning the exclusive rights to Ferrari outside of this forum. Anyone got some sort of proof of the rights?

Look around the interweb and you'll find proof.

Do you own any NFS games, theres usually somthing in the licencing in the manual. I'll look around for a site.

Isn't it possible that EA has dropped the liscenses to the exotics? NFS underground is all japanese and american cars and I think its quite possible that they will be making a sequel to underground.

They might not renew them, but they won't drop them. If you've paid for a Ferrari licence until 2005/7 (it's one of thoes years) your not going to let it go when you can charge other developers to use it.

Don't worry M Power fans, I already saw a pic that PD is testng/photographing the M3 coupe in an Japanese Race track (I forgot where it is).

That doesn't mean it's in, theres been Ferraris at the tracks as well and there is a very very low chance of thoes being in.

I doubt it, but it will a huge surprise to us gamers if PD could make Ferrari in GT4.

I can remember his name, but there is one member M5Power I think who is in a BMW Club and he said the Polyphony people rung up, then went and sound tested their cars.

Sounds like M power will be in GT4

Yep i spent about20mins revving the M5 in increments of 1k rpm...also interior shots were taken...not for GT4 but for the future.

Should be good guys, i cant guarantee M Power, but i think there is a very good chance.

all the best
adam

Apologies Adam - I was under the impression they only did your Turbo R... :D
