Van Horsen (a rather exclusive American car club) have a deposit on one (a BMW Z10), so it does exist and it is planned for production, I'm guessing it will be revealed at the next big mototrshow, but it's meant to be a Gallardo rival. At this point it's specualtion as to what the car actually is, but Van Horsen has a deposit on one for as soon as it's launched.

Anyone care to specualte, until more news comes forth.

Hmm, they're calling that one the M10, I don't read German, but I can see M10 all over the place. The car ordered is a Z10.

I think they are, on 5th gear (where the scoop came from) they mentioned it as supposed to be like a Lamborghini Gallardo. Like I said, I xcan't read German, so that article means nothng to me .

Nothing special in the text, just speculations... That car would be a super sports car if they decide to built it....

If they've taken a deposit they are planning on building it, that's the scoop. You don't take deposits for concepts destined to never go into production.

Oh sure, but I just told you what the german text is about in one sentence...

That is the best looking bimmer i've seen in a long time. Very menacing, although, not too much with traditional markings. I'd almost be more apt to think it was a merc if the badge and grill were different.

I can't read German either, Live4speed, but the language of a hot car looking to take on the world is understandable in any language. There are mean lines aplenty. The "W"-type hood reminds me of a Lotus Elise (which I'm starting to see more of nowadays). The front looks pretty nice, though it can be better. Can this thing take the fight to the Gallardo? It already has a head start. I'm going to give this car 80% approval. Nice BMW. They may start winning back fans if they continue to design nicer automobiles.

Sorry didn't ge you properly, rushed post, I was about to pop out.

I can't see an option for that in the thread tools.

That has got to be one of the hottest BMW's I've seen in a while! If only it existed now!

Looks ok I guess, kinda a mish-mash of a Benz SLR, Chrysler Crossfire, and some Beemer DNA thrown in there.

So, from the looks of this, is BMW finally entering the "Supercar" market, or just returning with a Sports car to battle for a few years and disappear?

Lord knows the Engine is enough for entry into the Supercar market, if they can just stick it in the right body.

Here's hoping MR, under 3200 lbs, and a 50+ hp bump over the normal V-10.

Meh, we will see. Theyve been blathering on about a Z10 for years in Motor Trend, and nothing has been confirmed or denied. The last "concept" drawing I saw looked like a mishapen Z4 Coupe crossed with an M6, not a pretty looking car. Motor Trend is convinced that BMW is working on it after an interview with their product development guru Burkhard Göschel said that there would be more done with the M5/M6's V10 in other products...

IMO: I'd like to see BMW get compeditive and build a super-dee-duper sports car, but I think they should stick to something like the Z8. Going for a mid-engined supercar looks good on paper and sounds good when doing some armchair racing, but a front-engine RWD coupe would be cheaper to produce, cheaper to sell, and probably easier to drive on the street.

If anything, BMW should set it's sights on the SL65 and SLR, not the Gallarado or F430. They can make the car as capable as they wish, but they also cannot negate the fact that it will probably sell to wealthy business men looking for an expensive and sporty daily driver. That was why the Z8 was so awesome, she looked good, drove better, and could be a daily driver if the owner wished.

The Z10 was showen in AutoCar or AutoExpress mag last year Live.

.

According to the text it would NOT be a midengine car. Front engine RWD like you love it :)

If it's really going to be the Z10, then it's not going to be MR. It'll be FR and probably a drop-top, just like the Z8.

If it's going to be the M10 (or if they're planning on making an M10 in addition to the Z10), it would probably be an MR supercar type of deal, and would likely draw its inspiration from the M1 in both name and design without confusing people who are ignorant of BMW's history into thinking that it's an M-ified 1-series....Actually, that's a really good idea.

if it's going to be genuine new MMMMM-POWERRRRR car, it must have self-destructive differential too, like M5/6 has.. unfathomable iDrive.. and styling by bangle himself. yes, i dislike bimmers.. only M1 is genuine M-power car to me. light, MR layout, inline 6 instead of this V10 nonsense.. etc.

But that was pure speculation back then and there was nothign to say BMW would put a Z10 into production. This is almost as good as BMW openly saying they are actually working on it. You don't take deposits (especialy not from somewhere like Van Horsen) for a car your not making.
