BOP Stock 991 on RH tires @ Nurburgring

Here is my lap to kick off.
I made a few slight errors, overcooked the casserole carousel and I went a bit conservative at the end as I was so far ahead of my baseline ghost.
But its a fair representation of what I've got. I like to think nobody can beat it by more than 5 seconds.

Time trial, Nurburgring noon track, penalties on strong.
991
BOP on
RH tires
no tuning
Stock gears
Edit : No aids except ABS





EDIT: it was noon track! Not afternoon.

did you manually set BoP weight and power?
curious, as, I've not seen the BoP option in the "time trials" menu...

BTW, nice lap, I'll try and come close tonight, not going to beat that... nice to have a "rabbit"

If you do time trial and then go into the tuning menu for the car under the picture for the car there is a option to select BoP
 
ok, one more BoP ? and then hijaak is off... is there option for BoP in custom races?
 
Not sure about custom races, it may be, but I would guess it just affects your car and not the AI.
 
So, I'm home now, and watched you in car video... sweet goodness! That looked fast.
6:37.894... I checked my replay from practicing "race pace" (BoP set manually) and it says... 6:44.020.
I doubt I've got 6seconds in me, but... here goes...
 
I had the curtains closed and was going balls out up till I nearly went off at carousel :eek:

In all seriousness, I think I’ll give this a try. It will probably be more fun than the Alsace demolition derby.

How do you manage to have the settings screens in the video? I tried but the share video kept stopping when I came out of the menus?
Does the live stream go straight to YouTube or do you need to publish it when it's complete?

It wasn't so terrible, especially with hardly any miles on your 991, it's pretty much all I've driven in the game for over 100 hours. And Nurburgring is my best track.

Not many folks would post up a video showing that they were significantly slower, much less a video with wrecks while making the attempt.
For instance, I didn't even save my 6:42.xxx lap. :shame:

I watched your entire video. It's a great reminder just how difficult and unforgiving this track is.
It was pretty clear that you do not know the track "like the back of your hand" which is required to get laps like @JacksHerer posted. I know the track (in game) very well and have probably "raced" 25 or more 4hr endurance's, and spent as many or more nights doing nothing but hot laps for 5-6 hours sharing driving with a buddy of mine, critiquing one another (ok, ball busting) and enjoying some beverages... So, I know the track, and just cannot get it done like Jack can. My formally mentioned buddy, is faster on Nords than I am, but, has no interest in online racing... forums... the internet in general.
So what's my point, right?
You are not terrible, you are inexperienced on that particular track.
Once you know the track, it's an addiction... I can't wait to get the game up and running (wife is still sleeping) later today and have another go at Jack. :). ...
 
Yeh I like watching learning laps, it's nice to come back at a later date and see how much you improved. I get thrashed in online lobbies by some aliens i sometimes meet, but they never use the 991.
I'll have another run later today as that carousel is bugging me lol

Edit : @jasguer @cleanLX sorry guys, I just made a new video showing the settings, and it's the noon track, I didn't realise there was also an afternoon track. It will make a difference on grip.

There were laps yesterday where I was holding 3.8-4.2 in the blue on my previous best... but i just couldn't hold it at that level/speed...

edit : @JacksHerer ah, noon... don't know that it'll make me "faster enough", but, thanks for your honesty... now I'm more excited to give it another go.

edit2 : also notice this is on lap1 correct? So, starting the lap on cold tires... arg... it just keeps getting better...
 
I would have kept quiet if I did the less grip track, and come out if needed lol.
Interestingly I got carousel right this time, but got overtaken by my ghost lol, so getting out of carousel early is looking like a quicker line.

Edit: still waiting for my new lap to upload. I started out down after the first corner, I thought I would make that up at carousel and by pushing after carousel, I was up quite a bit and then messed up the 2nd last corner. So I only took about 4 tenths off.

Nearly there just under a second off your time but crashed out at the end of the home straight when quicker by two tenths arrgghhh this is great fun.
 
I always go to 2nd gear (gentle throttle) before exiting the carousel... I find that slight moment of 1st, and the shift, eat some time, but grabbing second and rolling out to be faster... ??

Live stream goes straight to YouTube. You can edit it afterwards but no publishing or editing required.

I have *maybe* 100 laps on ‘the ring’ in my lifetime. However, I love that place, its beautiful, exciting, fast, slow, challenging, dangerous and scary all at the same time. It’s the best race track in the world!

Thank you, very much for your response. I have to admit, the first time I went into the grass I though, ‘oh great, the forum is going to be great to read after this is done.’ So it was a nice surprise to read. Like I said in response to @JacksHerer, I love that track, I just need some more experience. Now, Interlagos or Yamagiwa, I have tons of time on both those tracks and all 4 of my wins have been at Yamagiwa.

I was thinking about starting a weekly Nurburgring 4 hour endurance challenge one day a week if there would be enough interest and there was on set up already. I’m not the fastest, but I’m trying. Thanks again cleanLX.

Nice, 16 seconds faster than your previous lap too! that's a huge improvement... and all on the pave. :) ... easier said than done.

A bmw I think, the clip is well old, I remember seeing it on another forum when I was thinking of going to the ring. I never went in the end, I'm happy to get my fix with VR nowadays.
 
I didn’t want to post this in its own thread, but I just had to vent. This is some of the crap I have to deal with, I had two similar run ins with this player yesterday, so when I saw he was behind me, I just knew what was going to happen. Skip to 14:25 for “the action”

 
Its a shame to see stuff like that, id love to have a chat with him and hear what his logic is for the way he 'plays' the game.

There is a big problem with a lot of players who only know how to bash people out of the way, they've honed their wrecking skills in GTA and other games and bring them to GTS.

Dont let them get to you.

Yeah, I was livid, driving like a mad man trying to chase him down. I saved the replay and was going to take some race photos today.
 
That’s a fast time. Gave it a quick go this morning and my best was a 6:44.279.
 
How do you set penalty to strong ?
