The front element is designed to replace the central insert of the front bumper and tapers off on both sides like an additional front spoiler. In addition, Brabus attachments for the side air inlets in the front bumper offer a more distinctive appearance. At the rear, Brabus fitted a spoiler that attaches to the hatch as well as a rear bumper insert that mimics the under-ride guard design of the front apron. The stainless-steel sport exhaust with four tailpipes completes the styling upgrades.

In terms of engine tuning, Brabus offers the ECO PowerXtra D3 kit for the common-rail turbodiesel engine of the Mercedes GLA 220 CDI which adds 41PS (40hp) for a total output of 210PS (208hp) and a peak torque of 410 Nm (302 lb-ft). As a consequence, the tuned GLA 220 CDI sprints from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 8 seconds and reaches a top speed of 220 km/h (137 mph).

Gasoline (or petrol) AMG version of this car sometimes is incorrectly advertised as a most powerful 2.0 liter turbo motor ever. That gets on my nerves a bit because that's a total bull. Mitsubishi Evo X FQ400 makes 400PS, nearly 400bhp out the gate, 40 more than the Merc. Still, I've seen the AMG version up close and it is a keeper.

The FQ400 was basically a modified car. The Mercs are production cars.

Sure they were region-specific, and the motor was put together by Kia, of all people, but were marketed and sold by Mitsubishi themselves; much like Prodrive Subaru Imprezzas.
