Had braces, now wear retainers at night.

Fun.

Retainers don't sound bad. Sound better than braces.

If I get these Invisoline things, I'll eat anything I want. Just take it out, eat, put it back in.

Said to be expensive though.

They get dirty very quickly.
It's almost hilarious.

The Invisiline ones? That's what I want. My teeth are really screwed and they played the "oh well let's wait until he loses all his baby teeth and then get them" game. A little late I should say. We still haven't even consulted the dentist on them...

I had mine for four years. I'd gladly do it all over again though, my mouth would've been a mess if it weren't for those damn things.

And also with the food thing, I ate whatever I wanted and never had a problem. :)

It seems to be a general consensus that you'll have them for about 2 1/2 - 4 years (max).
4 years max?! Not a chance. I got mine off about a year ago, and didn't know what to do. I had had some kind of that stuff in my mouth since third grade. That's right, i had braces for 7+ years!!! You guys are so lucky, only two years. Had to have surgery to get an extra tooth removed. Had to have other surgery to cut my gums up, in a hope that that would help my teeth stay straight. Now I STILL have to wear stuff every night. Not to mention my teeth are headed towards crooked again...

My advice to anyone is, don't get braces. I would much rather have had crooked teeth than go through all the pain and stress of having braces. Not to mention the thousands of dollars that would have been saved.

Oh, yeah, and be careful of sleeping facedown on rugs and stuff. When you try to get up, your teeth might just be attached.

Your case sounds like the extreme. Usually, that's how long braces are kept in someone's mouth...

By the way, is it your front teeth that keep growing crooked because if that's the case, I know exactly why.

You're an extreme case though. Most people do get it for 1-2 years, and find it well worth it (I know I have – my teeth used to be crazy crooked, but now they're almost perfectly straight). It's like saying that because you get in a bad car accident that rips off one of your limbs, nobody else should drive.

I got mine first day of spring break last year, I still have them on now. They really messed up my gums, tomorrow I'm going in to get some gum moved from one side of my mouth to the other.

I had them and I would easily do it again. Major difference before and after. Well worth the wait. 👍
I had the invisible retainer. Best invention ever. NO one could tell when I wore the retainer.
