OK, I hate E-Brake as much as the next guy, but I don't get it when some of you guys say that "E-Brake Sux0rz" and then tune your brake balance so that it goes something like this.
Brake Balance 10/24

E-Brake completly locks up the rear wheels correct? then isn't that THE EXACT SAME THING?

also, I won't be able to read replys over the weekend, so don't think I'm running away or anything.(going to Condor Con, D&D/Sci-Fi convention in San Diego)

What E-Brake is fine even pro drifters use it in D1!!!!!!!!!!

Instead of going to the SCI-FI go to the D1!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

GOTO D1 and watch D1 drifters E-Brake away

I use the e-brake when it is necessary, and I find it to be a useful technique. I don't know why everyone puts it down so much.....;)

Feinting and braking drifts require more precision and in turn, skill.
The most appropriate use for the e-brake that I found is more of a corrective tool, say if I cut too soon and trace my line into the wall or something.

It's also useful for drifting through short straights into a turn of the same direction as the last one, like at the bottom of the hill on Cote d'Azur at the end of the straight after the last hairpin.

Below is an example of how to suck at drifting.

Simply cut in too soon and start drifting towards the inside wall.
You should be accelerating forward and sliding sideways.
Now clutch in (GT3 does this for you) and e-brake.
With no force acting against inertia except the friction of your tires, you have no forward acceleration. So instead of sliding in an arc or curve, your car only slides sideways in a straight line.
Time it right and *alla-ka-suck!* you magically drift through the turn and gain the admiration of all the clueless women watching.

nice drawing there street fighter :)
I always use the E-brake under that kind of situation... it helps corrects many of my mistakes, and in the end, the drift turn out to be so cool :)

Even though some people may like brakes at 10/24( i have my own settings for each car) that setting doensnt instantly lock up the rear wheels like the e-brake plus gt3 has ABS and the only way i can see that you can lock up is during a spin or certain parts of your drifts.

I don't use e-brake at fr and in 4wd. I only use in it FF cars. For me the e-brake is crap because the rotations, then I don't like it.
I use a braking drift modified sometimes, depending the curve, I brake for the curve, but I oversteer and brake at the same time, that in Gt2. In Gt3 my opinion of e-brake is the same, but I don't like oversteer with brake, I do light brake, then I do racing drift, and I think with this last technique can be more fast than braking drift. In Gt2 I will continue with braking drift, but in Gt3 I will use racing drift.
I don't like feint drift, too confuse for my mind.
Racing drift: open the throttle at the beginning, and then do full throttle causing oversteer.

thats cos u are superior.:p
e-brake can be a useful tool in the event of an emergency, or if you're cutting your line in a little too soon..
its not that i try to avoid using it, its just more challenging to preted you dont have it while your playing gt3, thats how i learned how to drift the way i do now.

With the wheel I'm getting (DF Pro), using the e-brake will prove to be extremely difficult if the buttons are switching sides all the time. Solution?

Well stated and good picture!
I've provided a video demonstration of this.

I guess I forgot to say that you let off the e-brake and accelerate and drift on the newly corrected line.
That could solve alot of problems that people may be having with this :p

I actually increase my front brakes to about 11 or so. A very important thing to remember when using the e-brake is to rev match so that when you let off, you do not end up spinning. This is the only good way to shift lock, and it is extremely difficult. You do not actually see the E-brake much in D1, unless someone is holding back, or in a battle (Watch Komatsu). And just a note, in GT3 it is not ABS, it is simulated Threshold (spelling?) braking. (The menu does not exactly tell it like it is)

It does the same thing with the steering.
It only lets you steer so far in one direction and varies according to speed.
This is to make the game a little more playable with a Dual Shock controller.

There should be a way to turn it off if you ask me.

There is. That is what the different Steering Asist settings are for. If you put it on Pro, it does not give any asist.;)
