Hi All,

Having raced my Yella Tuned Viper for some time now especially at Suzuka i have finally maxxed out the car with the best Time of 2.08.55. During a Race you constantly strive to be quick but also consider your driving to avoid unwanted excursions intentional or not but be aggressive at he sme time to be competitive.

During a race i can really focus to catch the car in front and apply pressure and sometimes the car in front will try too hard and lose time for over driving. However as you get closer and closer you then have to adapt very quickly to avoid hitting your leading opponent in the rear end as different cars have different braking points. Theres nothing worse than holding a good position for a while to be caught by another car only to be tagged and shoved off the road. From experience the car chasing sometimes slows to allow you to regain the position he/she feels they have taken from you unjustly as do we all but overall it breaks your rythm and that of the car your leading or chasing not to mention the 3 or 4 places you end up losing.

This has lead me to be very very mindful of cars leading me when i catch them particlarly braking a touch earlier and this makes for fantastic racing and the other cars respect your driving knowing your not a **** with a heavy right foot and no consideration for other drivers.Example - Flying down the back straight flat out and drafting the car infront knowing the big (180) LEFT hander is approaching but you also know you need to kiss the apex in order to carry good speed to then brake for the chicane. So instead of taking the risk of passing via the draft i backed off just enough to allow for braking upto the chican and passed beautfully on the inside, no knocks, rearenders just clean racing that had me pumped. The other racer (forget the name) was then on my tail for the reaminder on the race and passed me at the very same spot an took the win. Coming second actually didn't bother me too much because the other car fully deserved the win but it was the racing that gave me the buzz - in my eyes this is the way to do it close nip and tuck all the way. Of course things are bound to happen but with a bit more of a racing brain and to be patient enought to grab your chance outways the risk of losing 4 or 5 places and pissing someone else off at he same time. Racing this way has produced for me some truly geat races and victories.

Sorry to waffle on but wondered what you all think !!?

I know what you mean. When I'm locked in a tight race my heart really starts racing. I've lost a few races by chocking on the pressure of looking at the guy in your rear window. You know the guy chasing you is motivated and pushing it to the edge. If you push too hard you'll make a mistake and give up the lead. If you play it too safe he'll overtake you.

I've been playing Daytona Road Course and I must say I love that track. That track is pure adrenaline rush. You have to go from 180 mph trail brake to make a pretty tight corner and then there is that deadly fast chicane that you have to get just right.

You have to do all of this while trying not to crash into the guy in front of you.

It's funny but in a race sometimes you're faster than you are in hotlaps because of that extra motivation. The adrenaline sharpens your skills.

Anyway, Ferrari F430 at Daytona road = Adrenaline rush braking!

I love how real this game is. It truly does emulate real racing and how agresive it can be. Theres are people that like cars, and people who like to race them. Big differnce to me..IMO

When I follow cars online I tend to give them plenty of room because I don't know the driver who is in it, his braking points or skill, and his car's capability/setup.

I only get close when a good corner for passing approaches. Other then that I try to give room but at the same time try to stay close to them to pressure them into a mistake

I usually don't get pressured into a mistake, I always drive at 95% anyways, even when I'm trailing someone. It's a good thing to have a mind of an endurance racer as I do, even in 3 lap sprint races (If you can even call 3 laps a race)

Sometimes I screw up a turn and brake to early and get slammed from behind. In those cases I just blame myself. It's hard to brake in time if the guy in front of you brakes way too early for a turn.

Its just like today when we were racing at Suzuka, You put enough pressure on me to overdrive the car and I went for the kitty box.

I have done that before too..But everytime I race online I am so timid about braking. Because in every race I usually get booted from the behind from someone braking too hard.

BurttonJ is right, it is a balance thing. Until each track is ingraved in my mind I will always have the driving line on to help me brake in the right place.

I hate to get off topic, but has anyone noticed the understeer effect when you are behind someone? And when you are under braking?

It think its a really fun to watch someone over drive their car. When someone is trying caught me I watch how they come off the corner in the mirror, if they are side ways they are adding time to their feat. Then when I am following someone I try to scare then into thinking I am trying to pass and they underbrake and go off the track.. Its easy to apply the right kind of pressure.

That was fun when we raced Earth, lol I didn't realize you were that close, other wise I wouldn't have slowed down.
