Is there really a breaking in time frame for new cars, and if so what is it, and how do you do it?

Yes, typically a few hundred miles. You drive the cars in a or b spec.

Let bob handle it.

I drove the hell out of one of my new cars and then that nite put it in 24hr endurance and it has lost HP, did I break it?

Change the oil. You also need to change the oil every few hundred miles.

The oil has been changed and it has been washed and all those easy things have been done!????now what

use searchbutton...this is done to death

by the way run in distance is about~ 500KM

if you run 24H race... well haha?!

During a Endurance Race your Car looses hp => after the Race do an oil-change and then a Motor-Reinforcement (or whatever it is called)
=> your lost hp should be given back and maybe some more due to engine break-in.

You Oil Change every 200km (124miles). This is constant on every car. And the break-in period lasts for 300km (about 186miles). This is also constant on every car. You can start over the break-in process by buying the Engine Overhaul, but is recommended at around 5000km (about 3,107miles). And I'm not sure about Chassis Reinforcement, but I think you only buy it when your car starts to have instabilities when going over bumps or when you constantly damage your car (mechanically, though).

but not if you run 24H race
my mazda 787b was at race start 50km.

After the race... it was about 2500~ km ofc the engine loses power, but at this point, only the engine refresh will help you out (you have to break in the engine again)

thank-you I got my answer. I kept asking friends if you would lost HP in the 24hr. races and they said no, but that was the only thing I could figure out happened to it. again thanks:idea::sly:

run the car in certain races like in Tsukuba and change the oil every race, when you car reaches 190-200 miles driven all the Hp added from each race will now stay on the car and has to maintined everytime you race (engine overhaul, oil change)
