Not forgetting that she has mingled with public vermin in her past life as a commomer before she married into the Royal Family.

A posh commomer, yes, but a commoner none the less.

Spent two weeks earlier this year in U.K going over some training with the development team in Wolverhampton. I had a friggin blast. Met some awesome people, took a spin in some awesome cars (EVO FQ400 and McLaren 650s) had wayyy to much beer and had an awesome time all in all.

I would go back in a heartbeat.

Q: What, in your opinion, were the biggest differences between the United Kingdom and the United States?

Frankly and honestly, people in the UK were very open. Being that I grew up in Spain one tends to have a little more in common with people from Europe than say America (sports, exposure to various cultures and the like).

A lot of people were very curious about life in America and although they definitely had their perceptions of what it was like, clearing up some of the stereotypes was fun and quite revealing.

So to sum it up:

1: People in the UK are in much more knowledgeable about world affairs
2: The UK is EXTREMELY diverse, people from all colors creeds and nations speak with a British accent.
3: Very talkative, I was asked countless times from random people who heard me speak "What part of America are you from, oh I visited "X" place, it was grand".
4: Interesting fact, some people aren't over the Revolutionary war and are well versed in what battles turned the tide and how close we were to actually losing many battles.
5: A lot of petrol heads in the UK, like HARDCORE, know every F1 driver in history type petrol heads. I had a awesome conversation with a colleague on Francois Cevert. Whereas here in America most people have no clue of what F1 is.
6: Gas in EXPENSIVE!!! It's probably more than double of what we pay here in the U.S.

It was good experience. I had never been to the UK but I had a good time, I am looking forward to the next time I head over.

Attack with a garbage truck in Glasgow? Or is it a tragic accident?
6 people feared dead for now.

Witnesses saying they saw the driver slumped over the wheel before it came to a stop. It's currently being treated as a serious traffic incident.

Awful accident whatever the cause. Especially at this time of year when the streets are packed.

Absolutely awful news... :(

Initial reports suggest the driver of the lorry was slumped over the wheel and the lorry was out of control from the Modern Art Gallery in Queen St., all the way up to George Square where it crashed into the hotel at the entrance of Queen Street Station, one of Glasgow's busiest stations.

edit: The driver is alive and receiving treatment in hospital.

All signs still point towards a tragic accident.
It's still a terrible situation but that's a small positive thing at the moment.

As terrible (and melodramatic) as it sounds, when I was in Glasgow city center at 2:30PM and seen loads of police cars and ambulances I presumed the stress of Christmas shopping had lead to a stabbing or something singular like that, couldn't comprehend what I had heard when I seen the news. :indiff:

Absolutely terrible scenes.

I'm jealous of your gently curving highways. In the US, if you aren't in the mountains then the highways are straight as an arrow. It's miserable.

I'm also amused by the number of defunct military air fields around the country. General aviation airports seem rare comparatively. And a lot of the old military fields aren't used for anything at all besides the buildings. Upper Heyford caught my attention as it seems to be used as nothing more than a parking lot, so much that parking spots are stained onto the ground.

Lots of weird relics of war around England.

A great deal of old airfields form the main bulk of our race tracks now. You get the odd war relic like Bletchley Park which is preserved as a museum, but with a lot of things they're either still in use or it's a just random fortification somewhere.

Well a lot of them are yours. A lot of the old airfields are ex USAAC.
As for the famous ones from the BOB then a lot of them were just mown grass WW1 style and Manston is now an international civilian airport.

I'm also jealous you guys have a wall to keep the hoodlums from the north out. I wish I could do that with the hillbillies from down south.

It would be more effective if it ran south of Sheffield, since it's way up in Northumberland and Cumbria it may as well not be there. :D

You really shouldn't be jealous.

Our motorways are over-trafficked, monotonous and devoid of scenery for the most part (and you can't appreciate the scenery we do have because you're on maximum alert for the traffic needlessly stopping in front), our A-roads are littered with speed cameras, poorly surfaced and clogged up by old gits in Nissan Micras, and our B-roads are spoiled by eight-foot high hedgerows that prevent you seeing around corners.

From my experience of driving in the U.S, if you plot a line between two places and the distance is 140 miles, you will do that journey in two hours because you won't have to drop below 70mph over the entire distance. By contrast, it's about that far from my new flat to my parents' place, and it regularly takes me 3.5 hours. Getting anywhere in the U.K. is a frigging nightmare.

BT just, without my instruction, decided to put BT parental controls on my connection. What in the hell 🤬

"You're welcome, Evan."

When you get a new BT hub, you have to go through a few things before you can start browsing for the first time. Parental controls are an option, got a new hub?

This my friend is the Tory porn block. You need to phone them up now and have an embarrassing talk.

Or use TOR.

I'm aware it's opt-out, but I'm also aware that I said no to parental controls when I signed up 7 months ago.

So why did it change? It was resolved through an entirely pointless online process. But why did it change! ?

Package, contract, Ts&Cs change recently?

Nope, nope and nothing I'm aware of.

However, I did just check my emails and there was one asking if I wanted to activate, but makes no mention that it would start 45 days later!

I feel a ranty email. ..
