BRM V16 engine sound

This is an old racecar with a supercharged 1.5L V16 pushing nearly 500 hp. Just listen to the flyby near the end of the clip.

May I ask what the point of a 1.5L V16 is. I mean that is a tiny engine.

It will have a very smooth, flat torque band. There is very little time between power strokes. I wonder if that car would fire two cylinders at a time.....

Well, there was prolly no other reason than series regulations that the engine was just 1.5L

Wow, at high rev's it sounds like a pissy little multiple cylindered engine, but at mid rev's it sounds more muscular then a V8!
