Ever since its inception in 2008, the subscription based simulation service, iRacing, has often been lauded as the racing simulation service of the generation. Accurately modelled race tracks, vehicles, tyre and physics boast virtual experiences that several real-life motorsport icons have come to swear by.

In a world where renowned racing franchises release stylized simulators across gaming systems every year for fear of their offerings going stale, IRacing has persisted – Garnering an audience of over 60,000 in the years that have been, while steadily growing that number daily. The reason - A growing, evolving online Community.

Long time members Kip Stephens and Steve Richardson however, yearned for more - A structured, professional virtual Touring Car championship that would in many ways mimic, if not surpass the actual British Touring Car Championship.

A yearning that led them to putting together a small group of Touring Car enthusiasts, calling it the British Sim Racers, before eventually launching IRacing's first ever structured, most professionaly Touring Car championship in 2013.
22309139861_8f9db48cdf_b.jpg

Since then, the group has only grown in the past couple of years, having organized up to Eight varied seasons that have brought together real-world professionals and virtual enthusiasts alike, live streams & commentaries and even a prize fund of $1,000 for competing drivers and teams - before hitting a milestone like none other.

As its biggest season, number nine, launched with a 35 race, 102 round schedule, $10,000 prize fund and a new name - The BSRTC Pro Series- on the 1st of March earlier this year, MotorsTV, Europe's largest Motorsport channel sought to broadcast the fabled championship to an audience base of nearly 41 different European countries.

A deal was struck and since the championship's 19th seasonal race this year, MotorsTV has been covering every race on a weekly basis and will proceed to do so till the end of the season on December 3rd. It is important to note however, that these races are broadcast two weeks post their actual occurrences, which can be caught on ApexRacingTV's Youtube channel that not only streams the races , with commentary, live every week on Thursday at 8 P.M GMT , but is also responsible for editing and delivering the recorded streams to MotorsTV for the television broadcast.

Higher Eclectic Ground meanwhile, is an indie video game and art community that serves to provide a platform for independent video game developers, gaming innovators and other artists to gain exposure and broaden their audience.

And so, it will be working closely with the BSRTC community henceforth - bringing every racing enthusiast that lies within its own indie video game and art movement - an in-depth insight into the sim-racing phenomenon's happenings, best of the best race highlights, gossips, driver tete-a-tete's, creativity and so much more.

All of this of course, will be posted on this thread as they happen - hoping to pique the interest of IRacing fans that lurk within GTPlanet by keeping them updated of all happenings.

To set it all in motion - We've spent the better half of this month putting together its dramatic rise to national popularity in an elaborate never-seen-before biography of sorts; one that traces its rise from Stephens and Richardson's imagination all the way back in 2008 to their vision of converting it into a mainstream brand today. This biography can be found on our blog here.

The biography also explains where the group can be found. For any other questions, I'll be here to interact with.

Speak soon :)

Best,

Sean Braganza
Founder,
Higher Eclectic Ground.

Race 29 - Rounds 83 to 85 - Circuit Of The Americas - Live Stream
Earlier today we announced our partnership with the BSRTC Pro Series - iRacing's first ever Touring Cars Championship to be broadcast on Europe's leading motorsport channel Motorstv - explaining how we would be providing the indie game and art community with an in depth coverage of each of the seven races remaining in it's massive $10,000 prize fund, 35 race season. This announcement can be viewed here - https://goo.gl/zsHBj3

And now, in less than 30 minutes - the first race out of those seven races, number 29 is about to begin at the Circuit of The Americas on IRacing! The drivers have been practising since 5 P.M GMT and will now jump into Qualifying within the next 10 minutes.

Qualifying will have the drivers set their best times around the track, which will then determine their positions on the grid for the final race that will take place at 8.15 GMT. The race of course, will be broadcast live by Apex Racing TV on their YouTube channel - which can be viewed here.

Meanwhile, Higher Eclectic Ground has been making its rounds, gathering gossip, emotions, thoughts and more from the drivers as they prepare for the race. We of course, will be bringing you a detailed report of every thing over the weekend.

Till then, sit back and enjoy the three round race. If you'd like to learn more about the BSRTC and Higher Eclectic is a part of it all, be sure to refer to the OP of this thread :)

So can one enter just paying £5 for one of the rounds as a privateer as long as there are enough spaces on grid? If so, I may get iRacing for one of the remaining races and see how well I do if entries are still allowed.

Hey Saidur! :)

Unfortunately they won't be allowing privateers into the championship now as they are off to the final 5 races of the championship i.e 'The Showdown Races' which I'll be elaborating on in my race report for this week. However, they are running the Kia cup on Sundays and Tuesdays, along with practice sessions on Wednedays - which offer much of the excitement of the championship for when its full or they're at its end.

I've told them to expect you so, simply head down to their closed group on Facebook here and tell them Sean sent you!

Look to seeing you there.

Alright, Kicking off Higher Eclectic Ground's collaboration with the BSRTC Pro Series - is our coverage of Race 29 of the 35 week season that took place at the Circuit of The Americas on the 22nd of October, the live stream to which is above if you missed it.

Please do not expect clean finishes, boring podium interviews and applause within the course of this article. There's controversy, bitter rivalries laid bare, profanities and even something about drunk driving in there!

With 20 drivers fighting for a shot at the Pro Drivers' and a $10,000 prize fund - this is motorsport meets back-alley street racing at its finest . Read more in the full article here :)

Race 30 - Rounds 86 to 87 - Donington Park ENdurance Race

Starting today- Higher Eclectic Ground will now be offering its indie members and their projects a chance to be featured on Europe's largest motor sport television channel that reaches out to over 41 different countries, Motors TV!

Race 35 of the BSRTC Pro Series - an iRacing based Touring CarsChampionship with 50 drivers and 11 teams competing for a $10,000 prize fund is going live at 8 P.M GMT on Apex Racing TV 's YouTube channel linked below!

This week's race is different. For one, it is solely team based and will determine which of the 11 teams will make it through to the last five races - called 'The Showdown' races - wherein the top 18 drivers and top 3 teams will be competing for the prize fund.

Moreover taking place at Donington Park, the race will be Endurancestyled - meaning each car will be driven by two drivers that will swap turns at the wheel once during the 40 minute race in a test of their durability and mental strength.

And finally, as part of a partnership with the BSRTC unlike any other - we will now be giving our members an opportunity to 'sponsor' a driver for the duration of one or several races within the next few weeks of the season's calendar. Sponsoring a driver for a tiny fee, will have your game/product/blog/organization's logo imprinted on his/her car - making viewers of the races' live streams and television broadcasts aware of your brand.

Furthermore, the ApexRacingTV's broadcasters Andrew Woodhouse and Adam Bath that play commentators during each of the races will be giving your brand a special mention through the course of the race along with what it's all about.

Don't believe us? Tune in to the race and check out the community's first ever member to be featured in a BSRTC race - A&J Apps and their iOS app, Eyegames - a mobile portal to the latest news, reviews, videos andTwitchTV streams of over 30,000 games that range from Atari classics to upcoming releases.

EyeGames will be sponsoring Team Engine Oil Direct, currently running in first place for the Team's Championship.

An official announcement regarding the 'sponsorship's will follow tomorrow. Till then, enjoy the races :)

Rounds 88-90 - Okayama Short Circuit - Showdown Race One

At exactly 8.15 P.M GMT, slightly over an hour from now, the first of theiRacing powered, BSRTC Pro Series Showdown races will be going live onApex Racing TV at the Okayama International Circuit.

The Showdown races, which are the last five races of the Touring Carschampionship's 35 week season, will see the top 18 drivers and top 3 teams of the season thus far competing for their respective slices of a $10,000 prize fund.

Couple that with the Okayama Short Circuit's tight, winding turns and you get more of the ferocious neck-and-neck touring car action that we've only seen escalate in our coverage of the races the last couple of weeks.

Higher Eclectic Ground will be there of course - this time with member Video Game blogger Mike Blundell in tow, whose revamped Video game blog Mike's Pad - mikespadblog.wordpress.com - will be supporting BSRTC Team Apex TV 's number one driver, Sebastian Job, currently running in second for the PRO Driver's title.

More importantly, the race will also be aired on the 24th of November on Motorstv, Europe's largest motor sport channel. For now, be sure to catch the live stream on the link below.

This stream is brought to you as part of our collaboration with the BSRTC, wherein we aren't only helping them reach out to the mainstream gaming community but also providing our members with sponsorship opportunities to get their creations noticed on European television. EDIT:

The iRacing powered, BSRTC Pro Series race late last night on Apex Racing TVwas to have one of our members, Video Game blogger Mike Blundell, sponsor one of the competing teams' vehicles as part of our collaboration with the BSRTC.

Unfortunately, a minor technicality on the administration side of things led to Mike's sponsorship not going through altogether, which explains why there was no mention of his Video Gaming blog, Mike's Pad last night.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you. Rest assured, the matter is being looked into meaning Mike and Higher Eclectic Ground will be there next Thursday for the second of the last five races of the season.

Till then, don't forget to catch the race above if you haven't already and do stay tuned for our juicy race report over the next few days!

I Will Survive - Race 1 Of 5 Of The BSRTC Pro Series' Showdown.

22956821471_4e548641f6_h.jpg

Last week, the 5th of November, bore witness to the launch of the iRacing powered BSRTC Pro Series Touring Cars championship's Showdown - wherein the top 20 drivers and 3 teams of the season so far would compete alone for a slice of the $10,000 prize fund.

Taking place at the Okayama International Circuit - besides issuing a sense of extreme claustrophobia, the three round race at the circuit not only broke the record of being the most civil of the BSRTC's outings in recent times in its first round- but also undid that achievement in its next.

Why? Because apparently cars were being sabotaged with 'duff setups' and age old spare parts, drivers were 'crushing' on each other like adolescents and others were selling tickets to the tyre barriers. Doesn't make sense? It usually doesn't - Read our race report of Rounds 88-90 of the BSRTC Pro Series here.

Rounds 91-93 At Interlagos Livestream.

It's Race Day again - jeez, where does the week go!

In less than an hour, the IRacing.com powered BSRTC Pro Series Touring Cars Championship will see the green light at Autódromo José Carlos Pace - as part of the 2nd of the last 5 races of its 35 week season.

These 5 races which will be broadcast by Apex Racing TV on Youtube and Motors TV - Europe's largest motorsport channel - two weeks later, will determine which of the 50 Sim racing drivers and 3 teams will bag their slice of the $10,000 prize fund.

Also in presence besides us will be Higher Eclectic Ground member, Mike Blundell, whose Video Game Blog Mike's Pad -mikespadblog.wordpress.com - was unable to sponsor a driver last week due to an administrative issue.

Regardless, Mike's Pad will be sponsoring Team GT Omega, currently number 2 in the Team Championship standings tonight.

This stream is brought to you as part of our collaboration with the BSRTC, wherein we aren't only helping them reach out to the mainstream gaming community but also providing our members with sponsorship opportunities to get their creations noticed on European television.

The Way Of The Samurai - Round 2 Of 5 Of The BSRTC PRO Series' Showdown.

22499475033_ea8643518a_h.jpg

The iRacing powered, $10,000 prize funded BSRTC Pro Series set history last week at the Autódromo José Carlos Pace for being the most enthralling, entertaining and disastrous Touring Cars race all-in-one in its three year history. Nothing new.

But claims of committing Seppuku, racers posing for the camera when they should be racing, Kia Optimas orbiting the moon, accusations of an Apex Racing TV commentator being unnaturally presumptive and a leading BSRTC driver threatening to leave the series for good - that's new. And you're going to want to read it here.

Rounds 94-96 Mosport Livestream.

The third of the last five races of the iRacing powered BSRTC Pro Series - a $10,000 prize funded Touring Cars Championship broadcast by Apex Racing TV and Motorstv UK - is set to go live at the Canadian Tire Motorsport Park at 8.45 PM GMT.

The Championship set history last week at the Autódromo José Carlos Pace circuit by being the most enthralling, entertaining and disastrous race of the Series' three years.

This week however things are to take a whole new turn. IRacing.com's ongoing maintenance has caused quite a bit of delay, meaning drivers have not had their share of the regular three-hour practice.

Qualifying meanwhile will entail only a single car at a time setting their fastest laps on the track, which will then determine starting grid position.

Will history repeat itself? Will drivers give up all sense of on-track morality as they chase their slice of the prize fund? Tune in to find out.

This Really Is What A Serious IRacing League Looks Like - Round 3 Of 5 Of The BSRTC Pro Series Showdown.

23307479875_058846429e_b.jpg

The iRacing powered, Motorstv broadcast BSRTC Pro Series's outing at the Canadian Tire Motorsport Park was the embodiment of what made sim-racing motorsport so special. Why?

Because, infuriated by one blogging entity that decided to regard the BSRTC Pro Series as an embarrassment to IRacing, Sim-Racing and the United Kingdom as a whole, the $10,000 prize funded league decided to clean up its act and show the world how it's really done once and for all.

Act? What Act? Read the full report here.

23058059873_802483909b_h.jpg

The iRacing powered BSRTC Pro Series came to an action packed, dramatic end on the 3rd of December, 2015.

Owing to the downtime that continues to intermittently plague theIRacing.com servers post a recent update, our report of the finale's proceedings was delayed longer than usual.

Regardless here we are, post what has been a more than eventful yet befitting end to 35 weeks of adrenaline-fuelled sim-racing. Come take a read of the usual - and some not so usual controversial talk by one BSRTC PRO Series driver who was far from emotional about its conclusion.

As always, you're going to love this. Read the full report here.

It's been ages, hope you've all had a great, great holiday and well -- its time for us to head into the New Year :)

First, with news!

Released on the 25th of this month, Sim Racer Magazine‘s first issue of the year now features the elaborate, never-seen-before biography of the British Sim Racers & their increasingly popular, BSRTC PRO Series Touring Car Championship on IRacing — as written by us at Higher Eclectic Ground back in October, 2015 and seen at the top of this thread!

This biography of course, arrives exactly a week after BSR made one of its grandest announcements in the midst of its on-going Winter Series’ race at Silverstone last week — IRacing has picked up the official title sponsorship of the upcoming, tenth season of the BSRTC PRO Series scheduled to launch later in March this year. This is in addition the the Series’ being granted 45 episodes on Motors TV International, with 2 repeats each, garnering it 130 hours of International Television time for the upcoming season.
