Ok to all the audio experts on GTP, I've got about 350 dollars to spend on a single 12'' inch sub and amp for my car. I'm going more for loudness than sql and it has to be louder than my previous polk dxi 12''. Im not into off brands, Ill pay more for a good product.

I'd save up more than that is you want something really nice. I know a lot of my friends have budget subs and they really don't sound good.

No this isnt like Hifonics or lanzar of budget or anything , the polk sounded good because it was matched well to the kenwood amp but I want more thump this time around. Heres one option I've been looking at right now.

Just not sure if thats going to give me the loudness I want, it will certainly be high quality though.

Kicker 11-500.1 D-Class Mono amp (500 watt RMS, but its Kicker so it will be higher, my 750.1 bench tested at 920 watt RMS)

Alpine Type R 2ohm DVC 12" Subwoofer (in a sealed box, Type R's aren't huge fans of ported or open air.

Then drive around and make the neighbourhood mad.

What kind of car is this going in? If the car's a hatchback you can rattle your doors off with a simple 10 inch sub of decent quality. My sub and amp setup cost about $250 total for aKicker CVR 10, and I've got it turned up about 1/4 of the way on the amp and usually most of the way down on the headunit. On a sedan where you've got it in the trunk it requires a little more punch.

Probaby going into his Trans Am but I'm not sure, I'm not him to say.

Well in the trans am it wouldnt take much for it to very hard but it will be going into my winter car/daily driver Chrysler Sebring which is fairly big and the back seats are thick in between the interior and trunk so I need good power for some nice big bass.

Bandpass box, 2 12s (that are 1ohm stable) and a monoblock amp that's 1ohm stable. You can wire the subs in parallel and pick up insane amounts of thump.

Also, invest in dynamat all over that truck so the trunk lid isn't just bouncing and rattling from outside the car

I just installed the sub and amp and all I can say is WOW! I got the rockford fosgate p2 12 and an alpine mrp-m500 amp from crutchfield and even with the gain all the way down it is on the verge of overpowering the speakers. I might have to get some dynamat though.

Maybe it's time to invest in new speakers haha. Nice though, enjoy it.
