For the uneducated amongst you, here is how the Volkswagen ownership works. Porsche have 50.76% stake in Volkswagen AG, who in turn have controlling stakes in Volkswagen cars and commercials, Scania, Audi, Lamborghini, Seat, Skoda, Bentley and Bugatti.

Right, for the original post; I can very much understand why they would put Bugatti in France, but am befuddled by the mini listed as German ( finding that one out after purchasing and modifying one before trying to enter the British lightweight league :()

Porsche sure have 50.76% in VW group but it does only because they don't want a competitor taking over VW group which would probably mean the end of the Poscher/VW AG relationship.
VW AG is pretty independent concerning its subsidiaries.

Interesting stuff.

I thought it was odd to see the Alfa Romeo race car in the German Touring Car Championship extreme race - aren't they an Italian car manufacturer?

The DTM series isn't exclusively for German cars, even though most of the entries were German (in fact, right now they all are) every carmaker from every nation could or can participate.
It's the German touring car league, not a league for German touring cars. :)

Porsche do have plenty of say in what Volkswagen build; up until about 5 years ago, Porsche wouldn't let Volkswagen build anything they thought would hurt their sales. And Porsche use Volkswagen 4wd tech in their cayenne.

Volkswagen is British , it's just owned by Germany.
Yes?
