at one point in the game, cant remember when, you win a buick special '62. DO NOT SELL IT. It helped me through loads of the proffesional and amatuer races. Its a SEMA winner i think, and although it looks bad, it is extremely fast.

Drive it,do not sell it. :)

I have maxxed mine out, Something around 850hp I think and with the gears streched out it gets up to 200+ mph in just a few seconds. I used this car to with the Supercar Festival with relative ease.

I had no idea what this car was when I won it and I really didn't look at the tech specs. I was just happy to finally have one that would enable me to enter the classic car comp. in the beginners series. I thought that I would have a sedate thing gently flowing across the track and that I would have to work hard to win. When I hit 320 kph on the Mulsanne straight I just laughed.

I bought a Skyline ('02) and see to be 100% honest, I would much rather have the handling of the Buick Special than that. Be it my modding or what, this thing does 200MPH without question and it turns like I wanted the Skyline to.

Very VERY impressed with this puppy. Will not be selling this at all, it's going to bring a lot of wins to its name.

You can't sell it anyway, it's just asking you to remove it from the garage if you don't want it.

It "looks bad"? No, says I. I've spent more time taking pictures of this car than any other car I own. Albeit, I own less than 20 cars lol. I fell in love with this car in GT4 and was elated to win it so early in GT5. In my eyes, it is a beautiful beast.

Well .. Must say like others I also had the idea;
'''Oh not again a crappy car''
The only 2 price-cars I like are the Veyron and.... the Buick...
Yes the Veyron is fast but a corner isn't his best friend...

Really like it! Done almost all the series and won 3/5 licences in silver (note; with out steer) so I hope there are good cars to arrive!

let me rephrase it, it doesnt look fast- i agree it looks good :)

Sorry mate. I misunderstood your meaning. Yes, it does look slow and unwieldy. Someone assigned the term, "sleeper", earlier in the thread. It is probably one of the best sleepers in the early game.

Not really related but sort of related: my favorite thing about the car is the line at the hood level from the front of the car drawing to the rear of the car. Snapshots of that line in the right light are pretty cool, imo.

Yes this car is definatley a sleeper. I was going to sell it immediatley until I found out I couldn't and boy am I glad I couldn't sell this thing:lol:. Its fast and I used it to beat that classic car race completely stock, I still have yet to put a single mod on it or tune anything at all.

Agreed, I laughed when I won what looks like a lowrider, until I realized how much horsepower it had in it. Tuned it a little and won a few supercar races with it. Only downside is it drives like a boat on turns.

thats ok :) i will give that shot a try

When this thing won and got entered into the game they must not have wanted to put a tank or a drag only car into the game so I think they negated all wind effects, stearing, and weight defficencies. It is not possible in real life for this car to achieve 220+mph on daytona with that body shape regardless of what it made of.

Besides the real car probably weighs like 5000lbs as it is filled with tons of crap since it is a show car.

Regardless I luckily used this thing immediately after winning it and realized it was super car fast. I used it quite a bit until getting the veyron, lambo and ferrari. I now would only use it for an old race or a FR race.

It's not as good as it was in GT4, which is a good thing. I killed the classic car championship with it for instance, but my bspec driver can't get around the other cars on eiger nordwand, which is somewhat realistic since it's a tight track for such a large car and only has a couple of stretches to use the power.

It doesn't corner as well as it did in GT4, but still very well for a classic car of its size. Sounds about right, it's got a custom racing frame, but still the big body.

are there any cheaper cars which can win the amateur muscle one? Dont really want to shell out 500k on one car for one race?

I got the 69 Chevrolet Stingray Premium. All it needs is the fully customisable gearbox and it's pretty fast.
I did the races with the standard tyres, but it could really use the upgrade to sports.
It's only 50,000 Cr from memory and about 30,000 Cr for the mods.

So I modded the 71' Mach a bit more last night and won the Muscle car challenge and recieved the Buick Special 62' , what a monster! I raced it in a classics challenge, I forget exact title but I smoked the pack like tobacco was going out of style. The car ran so well on tight technical courses just drop it into 2nd around turns, take your smooth time them punch it on the straights! I LOVE THIS CAR!

If I get time tonight, I'll try to figure out how to post the replay on here, its good for a chuckle or 2................................

Heh, I know it's cheap to do it. But, I used my Special on the Classic Car races in Ameteur last night just to save from spending money on a car I don't care to drive. I thought Eiger might present a problem with little room for flat out runs. But, that was not the case. 2nd gear in the switchback section and then smooth acceleration and a little patience on the throttle put me way ahead of the competition. Albeit, there isn't much competition in the field compared to the Buick Beast.
